It’s even more important after the Vikings lost to the Denver Broncos on Sunday night. The Vikings currently sit two games down from the Lions and can climb within 1.5 games with a win on Monday night.

Bears Wire mock draft sends Vikings edge rusher in latest mock draft

Jarrett Bailey of Bears Wire released his latest mock draft and sent the Minnesoat Vikings an edge rusher in round one

Za’Darius Smith has reportedly requested his release from the Minnesota Vikings. Although the team has yet to grant his request, they still have a need at the edge rusher position.

Jarrett Bailey of Bears Wire released his latest mock draft on Saturday that had the Vikings selecting Clemson edge rusher Myles Murphy.

After cutting Eric Kendricks and Adam Thielen, with Za’Darius Smith rumored to not be far behind, he Vikings have entered rebuild mode. That said, their defense can’t get worse than the toilet soufflé they trotted out every week in 2022.

In college, Murphy continuously displayed great levels of power and speed while pass-rushing. That, combined with his size and length, is what teams are most intrigued by.

Murphy is one of the most explosive athletes in this NFL Draft and would provide the Vikings with a young player on the defensive line that they can rebuild their defense around.

Bears Wire sends Vikings a pass rusher in latest mock draft

The idea of the Vikings adding a pass rusher is not one that is talked about enough

The Super Bowl is over, and now it’s officially NFL Draft season. The Minnesota Vikings have a lot of holes to fill this off-season. The hope is that with a new defensive coordinator, they can rebuild their defense on the fly, either through free agency or the NFL Draft.

On Monday, Jarrett Bailey of Bears Wire helped the Vikings’ defense out in his recent mock draft by having them select Notre Dame edge, Isaiah Foskey.

“Good lord the Vikings defense was bad. They need someone who can get pressure consistently opposite of Danielle Hunter. It feels like they’ve drafted cornerbacks in the first round for the last decade, none of which have worked out. This class is deep, though, so they focus on getting a pass rusher in the first round.”

Za’Darius Smith and Danielle Hunter were the main edge rushers last season for the Vikings, but they are getting older. By taking Foskey, they’ll get a young pass rusher who can develop and potentially supplant Hunter or Smith in the next few years.
