Bears QB Caleb Williams connects with fan after jersey mishap

A Bears fan went viral on social media after Fanatics told him his jersey wouldn’t arrive for months. Caleb Williams came to the rescue.

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has only been a professional for a couple of months, but he is already showing that he’s a man of the people.

Late last week, a Bears fan by the name of Connor Burns made waves on social media when he posted a message from Fanatics about a Caleb Williams jersey he ordered. Burns was outraged when the company told him the jersey he ordered back in April would not arrive until late September. He called on the Bears and Williams for help in his post, which went viral with 6 million views.

After Burns posted the back and forth between him and Fanatics, Williams responded. “I heard that there was a bit of confusion with the whole jersey situation, so just wanted to reach out and let you know that Fanatics said that you’ll be one of the first to receive [one],” Williams said. He also provided Burns with another gift. “Much love, thanks for the support, and I got a little gift for you. We’ll be inviting you to a game on our behalf. Like I said, much love and thanks for the support. Go Bears.”

Though Burns tagged Williams in the post, the Bears quarterback had zero obligation to respond as the issue was with Fanatics, but he did try and remedy the situation as best he could. Williams has already ingratiated himself with Bears fans, like being out at Chicago Cubs, White Sox, or Sky games or showing up at his teammates football camps, and now he’s helping fans like Burns who can’t wait to support the new Bears quarterback when he steps on the field.

Though he has yet to throw a pass in any sort of NFL game, Williams has already won over the fanbase in part thanks to his charismatic behavior.

Kiran Amegadjie’s old Bears tweet has unbelievable connection

The rookie used to vent his frustrations about his favorite team on social media and one post has a wild connection to the current squad.

New Chicago Bears offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie realized a dream last Friday when he was selected by his hometown team with the No. 75 overall pick. Amegadjie, who grew up and played in Hinsdale, made it clear that he was a fan of the Bears growing up. It didn’t take long for everyone to see just how big of a fan he was, however.

Shortly after he was selected, his old tweets started popping up that proved he was living and dying with every play. Amegadjie, like many Bears fans, was venting his frustrations about the team during the 2020 season on Twitter/X when they endured a rollercoaster season. Comments like complaining about blocking and play calling were nothing nefarious and were warranted given the state of the franchise at the time, but one post in particular stood out, and it turns out it has quite the connection to the 2024 squad he just joined.

During the Bears’ prime-time matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, Amegadjie posted a tweet that simply read “Make the pain stop please,” an evergreen message Bears fans have probably said many times during their fandom. Based on the timestamp, it turns out that tweet was in response to the Rams scoring a touchdown to put the game out of reach in the third quarter, made by tight end Gerald Everett, his new teammate who signed in free agency. The Bears would eventually lose 24-10, which kicked off a six-game losing streak.

Amegadjie very likely doesn’t remember the specifics of his Bears-related tweets. He’s already deleted quite a few of them, after all. But seeing that he’s now teammates on the Bears with the man who made him want to wish away the pain of being a Bears fan back in the day is quite the twist. That could be a fun icebreaker as the two get to know one another.

Bears fans are back on tank watch after 19-13 loss vs. Vikings

Another Bears loss has fans looking toward the 2024 NFL Draft.

The winning vibes were fun while they lasted. The Chicago Bears were unable to create a winning streak, falling 19-13 in a sloppy game against the Minnesota Vikings. Chicago fell to 1-5, while Minnesota improved to 2-4 on the year.

The Bears’ potent offense ran dry after two games of putting up at least 28 points. They couldn’t muster a touchdown until the fourth quarter and had no answers for the Vikings ferocious pass rush. That pass rush eventually cost the Bears their starting quarterback, as Justin Fields was lost for the game with a hand injury. Tyson Bagent took over in relief and provided a few big plays, but had two costly turnovers that didn’t allow the Bears to complete a comeback.

Defensively, Chicago improved quite a bit, holding Minnesota to just 12 offensive points. The Bears defenders were flying and did enough to keep them in the game, but it didn’t matter in the end. The Bears are now back at the bottom of the standings, and the fans are officially looking toward the future with the draft.

At the moment, Chicago holds picks No. 1 and 2 in the 2024 NFL Draft. Two elite prospects would be available for the Bears to jumpstart their rebuild, and fans are all for it after this loss.

Bears fans were thrilled with the 1st half performance vs. Washington

The Bears had an excellent first half vs. the Commanders and fans loved what they saw.

Did that first half really just happen? The Chicago Bears looked like a brand-new team during the first half of their Thursday Night Football matchup against the Washington Commanders. Chicago is pouring it on, leading 27-3 at the half.

The Bears started hot to open the game and didn’t let up. Quarterback Justin Fields went 12-of-20 for 189 yards and three touchdowns. It was the second game in a row where he threw for three scores after his outing against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. D.J. Moore accounted for 137 of those yards and two scores as he torched Washington’s defense.

Speaking of defense, the Bears front four finally turned up the heat and made life difficult for Sam Howell. They held the Commanders offense to just three points and got a pick late in the second quarter. It was all Bears for the first 30 minutes.

Naturally, fans were loving it and couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Here’s how fans reacted on social media.

Bears fans are inconsolable after their shocking loss vs. Broncos

Bears fans are going through it on social media after their crushing loss to the Broncos.

There is no rock bottom for the Chicago Bears. There is only a pit of despair that is never-ending. The Bears suffered perhaps their worst loss in franchise history when they blew a 21-point lead to the Denver Broncos, losing 31-28 to remain winless at 0-4.

This game was all Bears for the first three quarters. Chicago was up 28-7 with just over four minutes left in the third quarter, but allowed the Broncos back in the game with soft defense, costly turnovers, and a coaching decision that deserves to be enshrined in the Hall of Shame. On 4th and short just outside of the red zone with the game tied, the Bears opted to go for the kill instead of taking the field goal and burned a timeout in the process. They were stopped short, and Denver responded with a field goal to take the lead. Justin Fields’ lone interception of the game on the final drive sealed the game.

All of this happened despite Fields throwing four touchdowns, three of which came in the first half. But what should have been an easy win is now a crushing loss that has fans wondering how head coach Matt Eberflus keeps his job going forward.

Here is what Bears fans are saying on social media following the loss.

Bears fans are ready to fire Matt Eberflus after this loss to the Chiefs

It’s not even October yet, but the 2023 Bears season might already be over. That has fans ready to move on from head coach Matt Eberflus.

It’s not even October yet, but the 2023 Chicago Bears season might already be over, and that has fans ready to move on from head coach Matt Eberflus. The Bears wrapped up a tumultuous week with one of the worst losses in recent memory, falling to the Kansas City Chiefs 41-10 to begin the season 0-3 and give Eberflus an overall record of 3-17 since he was hired as head coach. The defense was dominated by quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense until the starters were pulled midway through the third quarter.

The Bears offense, meanwhile, continued to play with very little rhythm and had costly turnovers that turned this game from a lopsided affair to a complete blowout before halftime. Their first points didn’t come until the fourth quarter, and no one seemed interested in playing out the rest of the afternoon. That lies with the coaching staff, and Bears fans have already seen enough from them to want a change.

During and after the game, Bears fans took to social media to express their disdain for the team’s early-season failures. The general message? Fire Eberflus and the coaching staff.

Bears fans are beside themselves after the crushing loss to the Buccaneers

Bears fans are going through it after the crushing 27-17 loss to the Buccaneers.

Any hope of a comeback by the Chicago Bears against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was erased thanks to one questionable play call that led to a defensive touchdown. Bears quarterback Justin Fields had an opportunity to lead a comeback down three points, but a screen pass to Khalil Herbert deep in their own territory ended up getting picked off by Buccaneers linebacker Shaq Barrett for a pick-six, icing the game for Tampa 27-17.

The Bears officially start the season 0-2 with too many questions and not enough answers. The offense was too inconsistent despite showing flashes early, and the defense could only bend before breaking in the suffocating heat and humidity. It was a game that was within reach for much of the day, but now Chicago is winless and staring down the barrel with the Kansas City Chiefs waiting in the wings.

With another loss, Bears fans are going through it, wondering why offensive coordinator Luke Getsy called a screen pass when they were backed up in their own territory, questioning Fields’ play, and everything in between. Here’s how fans are reacting on social media.

Bears Twitter reacts to the release of OL Alex Leatherwood

Bears fans were somewhat surprised to see the team move on from Alex Leatherwood.

Another Chicago Bear is hitting the market ahead of Tuesday’s roster cutdown deadline. The Bears announced they are waiving offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was first with the news. Leatherwood was drafted with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Las Vegas Raiders as the team’s future right tackle. He struggled mightily throughout his rookie season, and a poor 2022 preseason led to his release from the Raiders.

The Bears put in a claim for Leatherwood, hoping to get something out of the former Alabama standout, but he missed the first half of the season due to mononucleosis. He saw action in just four games near the end of the season, with mixed results. Leatherwood spent much of the 2023 offseason at guard and had moments during the preseason, but not enough to guarantee a spot on the 53-man roster. Leatherwood, who carries a $4.5 million dead cap hit, will now look for his third team in as many seasons. The news came on the heels of the Bears releasing backup quarterback P.J. Walker.

Given the Bears have question marks on the offensive line with Teven Jenkins out for multiple weeks and Nate Davis missing much of camp, seeing Leatherwood cut has Bears fans somewhat surprised. Here is how Bears Twitter reacted to the move.

Bears fans celebrate the signing of DE Yannick Ngakoue

Yannick Ngakoue is a Chicago Bear and fans are thrilled with the move.

At long last, the Chicago Bears found their prized pass rusher. The Bears are signing free agent defensive end Yannick Ngakoue to a one-year, $10.5 million dollar deal. The deal was first reported by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Ngakoue was the top edge rusher left on the market and the Bears, with plenty of cap space still available, have had a hole on their defensive line for months. A signing was inevitable and general manager Ryan Poles was patient with how he approached the market. Now it’s finally come to fruition.

The 28-year old pass rusher comes to Chicago after spending the 2022 season with the Indianapolis Colts. In 15 games, Ngakoue totaled 29 tackles (eight for a loss) with 9.5 sacks and one forced fumble. He’s been a menace since he was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016.

Ngakoue has never notched less than eight sacks in any year and his 21 career forced fumbles are fifth-most in the NFL since 2016. He instantly upgrades a Bears pass rush that totaled just 20 sacks in 2022 (6.5 of which came from the defensive ends).

The signing is the cherry on top of a busy and fruitful offseason for the Bears and fans are thrilled that Ngakoue is coming to the Windy City. Here is how Bears Twitter/X reacted when the news was announced.

Bears Twitter reacts to the Cole Kmet extension

The Bears signed Cole Kmet to a contract extension. Here’s how Bears fans are reacting to the deal.

Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles made his first significant contract extension of his tenure. According to ESPN NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Field Yates, the Bears agreed to a four-year, $50 million deal with tight end Cole Kmet. The deal includes $32.8 million guaranteed.

Kmet was selected by the Bears in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame in hopes of bringing stability to the tight end position. He grew with the team and after splitting time with veteran Jimmy Graham, became the unquestioned TE1 in 2022. That was Kmet’s best year as a pro up to this point. He caught 50 receptions for 544 yards and seven touchdowns, all of which led the team last year, while establishing a strong rapport with quarterback Justin Fields.

Now, the Bears are betting on Kmet to continue to ascend in his development. Despite entering his fourth season in the NFL, Kmet is still just 24 years old and is just now entering the prime of his career. The expectation is he will continue to be a valuable weapon for the Bears offense for years to come.

The news of Kmet’s extension sent shockwaves through Bears social media. Here’s how fans reacted to the deal.
