7 Takeaways from the Bears’ close loss to the Vikings

From Justin Fields’ development to the disappearance of the Bears defensive vets, here are our takeaways from Sunday’s loss to the Vikings.

The Chicago Bears played two games in one on Sunday when they faced off against the Minnesota Vikings. The first half felt like going back in time to the Marc Trestman days as the Vikings drove up and down the field, playing perfect offense to score 21 points and seemingly bury the Bears 21-3 late in the first half.

But Chicago dug out of a deep hole, clawing their way back to make things interesting thanks to a rejuvenated offense led by Justin Fields and a defense that finally clamped down on the Vikings. The Bears scored 22 unanswered points to lead 22-21, but a late Vikings score and a costly turnover ended any hope of sealing the comeback win. Minnesota won 29-22 to improve to 3-1 while the Bears fell below .500 for the first time this season at 2-3.

It was a roller coaster of a game that elicited strong emotions, both positive and negative. Here are our takeaways from Sunday’s game.

7 Takeaways from the Bears’ sluggish loss to the Giants

From Justin Fields’ improvement to Luke Getsy’s situational playcalling issues, here are our takeaways from the Bears loss to the Giants.

The Chicago Bears traveled across the country to take on the New York Giants and the only points they scored were from a guy they signed off the street on Saturday as they lost 20-12. Kicker Michael Badgley, playing in place of Cairo Santos who missed the game due to personal reasons, accounted for all 12 points of the day with the Bears offense unable to find the endzone for the first time all year.

It was a lackluster performance for all phases. The offense struggled to stop the Giants pass rush, the defense couldn’t stop anyone running the ball, and a special teams blunder eliminated any hope of a comeback late in the game.

Despite playing the NFC East version of themselves, the Bears were outcoached and fall to 2-2 on the year. Here are our takeaways from the game.

7 Takeaways from Bears’ narrow victory over the Texans

From Justin Fields’ regression to Roquan’s big bounce back, here are our takeaways from the Bears’ victory over the Texans.

Contrary to popular belief given the panic amongst fans, the Chicago Bears found themselves with a victory on Sunday, defeating the Houston Texans 23-20 on a last-second field goal by Cairo Santos to improve to 2-1 on the season. Thanks to a devastating ground attack led by Khalil Herbert, Chicago did just enough to squeak by the winless Texans and defeat former head coach Lovie Smith for the third time since he was let go 10 years ago.

The victory felt hollow, however, as the Bears passing offense continued to sputter with just 82 net yards and questions surrounding Justin Fields’ ability to succeed grew louder and louder. The same could be said for a number of Bears defensive players as well, though they clamped down on the Texans offense and made clutch plays to give the offense a fighting chance late in the game.

It was a weird game, with many writing off Fields and ignoring the victory while others continue to preach patience for his development during their celebration of the win. Want to know where we stand? Here are our takeaway’s from Sunday’s win over the Texans.

9 Takeaways from the Bears’ disappointing loss to the Packers

From Justin Fields’ awareness to Kyler Gordon’s rough evening, here are our takeaways from the Bears’ loss to the Packers.

The Chicago Bears played the Green Bay Packers in a primetime game at Lambeau Field and got their doors blown off. It’s become a tradition at this point, no matter who’s coaching the Bears. It was Matt Eberflus’ maiden voyage into Green Bay as the Bears head coach and unlike most of his recent predecessors, he was unable to have success his first time up there.

The Bears took an early lead thanks to a punishing ground game, but soon fell behind quickly thanks the Packers own running game giving the defense fits. Green Bay relied on their two-headed running back monster of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon and they carried the team to a 27-10 win. The Bears and Packers both settle at 1-1 two weeks into the season and the Bears will go back to Halas Hall to figure out how they can improve heading into their matchup against the Houston Texans next weekend.

As usual, there aren’t many positives from this game for the Bears. Here our initial takeaways from Sunday’s primetime loss.

7 Takeaways from the Bears’ comeback victory over the 49ers

From Justin Fields outdueling Trey Lance to the impactful play of the Bears rookies, here are our takeaways from Sunday’s win.

A new era of Chicago Bears football began on Sunday as the team kicked off the 2022 NFL season with a new regime in place against the San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Matt Eberflus made his regular-season debut and braved the elements at Soldier Field. Torrential downpours made conditions tough for both teams, but it was the Bears who were able to overcome them when it was all said and done.

After a sluggish first half with no points and very little offensive production that resulted in a 7-0 lead for the 49ers, things began to turn around. With key adjustments by the offensive staff, quarterback Justin Fields settled into a groove and the Bears scored 19 unanswered points to defeat win 19-10.

It was an ugly win for an ugly game, but thanks to timely offense and clutch defense, they got the job done and start the year off 1-0. Here are our takeaways from the game.

7 Takeaways from the Bears’ preseason finale victory vs. Browns

From Justin Fields’ return to Cleveland to Kindle Vildor’s surprising play, here are our takeaways from the Bears’ preseason finale win.

Preseason games usually leave football fans wanting more, but it’s fair to say Chicago Bears fans are happy with what they saw from their team as they put a bow on the offseason. The Bears defeated the Cleveland Browns 21-20 but it’s what the starting offense showed that has people talking.

Quarterback Justin Fields was masterful in his return to Cleveland, completing 14-of-16 passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns. His quarterback rating was 146.9, just shy of perfection. The Bears jumped out to a 21-0 lead and held it until the final seconds after the Browns reserves made a late comeback that fell short.

This game was a dress rehearsal for head coach Matt Eberflus and it appears his team is ready for opening day in two weeks. He should have a lot to be happy about when looking at the tape because there was a lot to takeaway from this game. Speaking of takeaways, here are ours from Saturday’s preseason finale.

7 Takeaways from the Bears’ preseason win vs. Chiefs

From Braxton Jones’ solid debut to the unacceptable field conditions at Soldier Field, here are our takeaways from the Bears’ preseason win.

The first preseason game is in the books for the Chicago Bears and after falling behind early, they scored 19 unanswered points to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs 19-14. The Bears saw some flash plays from their starters such as quarterback Justin Fields and wide receiver Darnell Mooney, but were saved by their reserves.

Backup quarterback Trevor Siemian tossed two touchdowns in the second half to bring the Bears back and the defense came alive to create turnovers and stifle the Chiefs second and third stringers to steal the opener in head coach Matt Eberflus’ debut, albeit in a meaningless game.

Dissecting a preseason game is a bit different than the regular season, but here’s what we took away from the game on Saturday.

5 takeaways from the Bears’ dominating 29-3 victory over the Giants

While the Bears’ blowout win over the Giants doesn’t mean anything this season, it was nice to enjoy a victory. Our takeaways:

Fans of the Chicago Bears who braved the cold and somewhat snowy conditions to attend the game on Sunday at Soldier Field were rewarded with a convincing victory in the team’s final home game of the season. The Bears dismantled the New York Giants, winning 29-3 thanks to a dominant defensive performance against Mike Glennon.

It took the Bears just two plays to take the lead, one on defense and one on offense. After stripping Glennon of the ball on the first play from scrimmage, creating a turnover, the Bears punched it in on the next play and never looked back. It was a game where you could put your feet up on the couch and enjoy a beatdown that featured a historic moment as well.

Though it doesn’t mean a thing this season and won’t change any of the outcomes this offseason, it was nice to see the Bears kickoff the new year with a victory. Here are my takeaways from Sunday’s win.

6 takeaways from Bears’ comeback win against the Seahawks

The Bears pulled off a comeback victory over the Seahawks on Sunday. Here are our takeaways from their fifth win of the season.

The Chicago Bears and the Seattle Seahawks played a fun, down-to-the-wire game in the snow in Seattle. The Bears ended a three-game losing streak and ended any hopes for Seattle’s playoffs.

Led by third-string quarterback Nick Foles, the Bears pulled off the upset as he threw the winning touchdown and 2-point conversion to give the Bears the 25-24 victory.

Here are my takeaways from what we witnessed on Sunday.

5 takeaways from the Bears’ divisional loss to Vikings

The Bears laid an egg in their final prime-time game of the season against the Vikings. Here are our takeaways from the loss.

For the second time in eight days, a national audience was treated to a special brand of football that has become all too familiar to fans of the Chicago Bears. Playing in their final prime-time game of the season, the Bears laid an egg against the Minnesota Vikings, losing 17-9 and falling to 4-10 on the season.

Though they were aided by a strong performance from the defense, the Bears couldn’t put together a complete game, missing too many opportunities on offense to make an impact. If not for a garbage touchdown as time expired, the Bears would have been shutout from the endzone for the seventh time since the beginning of the 2019 season.

With the Bears losing, they not only clinched their first season with double-digit losses since 2017, but were also officially eliminated from playoff contention. And speaking of no postseason aspirations, that seems like a great place to start for my takeaways from this game.
