Which Badgers in the NFL to watch in Week 17

Every week, Wisconsin football’s official Twitter account has been lending us a helping hand in putting together a guide of Badgers in the NFL.

The standouts this week include J.J. Watt’s second-to-last career NFL game, T.J. Edwards leading the Eagles defense, Russell Wilson looking to salvage something late in the season against Kansas City, and many more.

With NFL training camp now here, Badger stars are gearing up for another season while rookies are looking to find their way onto final rosters.

A number of Wisconsin Badgers were at top of the league last season, as Jonathan Taylor was arguably the NFL’s best running back and T.J. Watt took home NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2021.

Overall, there are 37 former Badgers currently on NFL rosters with a number of those players now in new locations.

After going undrafted in the 2022 NFL draft, Wisconsin cornerback Caesar Williams didn’t wait long to find his NFL home.

The former Badger is joining a number of Wisconsin offensive lineman in Los Angeles, as he signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent shortly after the conclusion of the 2022 NFL draft. The news was first reported by Pro Football Focus’s Doug Kyed.

Speaking of Pro Football Focus, the website gave Williams the highest coverage grade (84.8) of any CB prospect in the 2022 NFL draft when targeted 10+ yards down the field.

Williams had a career-high three interceptions as a senior in 2021, and finished his Wisconsin career with 19 passes defended.

Stars on both sides of the football are hoping to hear their names called anytime between Thursday and Saturday. The prep work is all but finished, and it’s now time to see dreams realized.

Pro Football Focus recently released their final NFL draft prospect rankings for 2022, and four Badgers made their list of the top 250 players hoping to see professional dreams play out.

A pair of offensive and defensive stars from the 2021 Badgers are listed, with the top Wisconsin player coming in at No. 36 overall. Here is a look at where the four Badgers stand according to Pro Football Focus:

With the NFL draft set to begin on Thursday, a number of Badger hopefuls are patiently waiting to hear their name called.

While there aren’t any Wisconsin stars projected to go in the first round, linebacker Leo Chenal has flown up boards and is now the highest-rated Badger at No. 48 overall per ESPN.com’s Scouts Inc.

Ironically, two of the best current NFL Badgers were not selected in the first round. Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was a second round selection, while new Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson was taken in the third round by Seattle.

It was another eventful weekend for Badgers in the NFL as former Wisconsin players found the end zone, set records, and more.

Former Wisconsin running backs had specifically eventful weeks, while Russell Wilson set another career milestone.

For the second time in just three games, Raiders FB Alec Ingold even got lucky in the coin toss as the captain picked tails and Las Vegas got the ball in overtime. Oh, he also found the end zone in regulation.
