Three Buffaloes earn preseason media All-Big 12 honors

Colorado was well represented on the preseason media All-Big 12 football team

We are about one week away from the Big 12 football media days in Las Vegas, and to get fans excited, the conference released its media preseason All-Big 12 football team on Tuesday.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders, cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter and defensive lineman B.J. Green II were the three Colorado Buffaloes players who made the team.

Sanders has routinely been rated as one of the top quarterbacks in the country, and while the Big 12 has talent at the position, the senior got the nod. Heading into his likely final college season, Sanders could go down as an all-time great for the Buffs.

Hunter was voted to the team as a defensive back but could have garnered votes as a wide receiver. The two-way star was also recognized as the preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

The hype surrounding Green is only growing ahead of his first season with the Buffs. Playing his first three college seasons with the Arizona State Sun Devils, Green has shown the ability to rush from multiple spots on the line while creating havoc in opposing offensive backfields.

In the Big 12 preseason media poll, Colorado was picked to finish 11th in the conference.

One eye-opening statistic about new Colorado edge rusher BJ Green II

B.J. Green II comes to Colorado as college football’s active leader in one statistic

I’m quite impressed by the new group of edge rushers that head coach Deion Sanders and his staff have brought to Colorado, and Arizona State transfer B.J. Green II is a big reason for that feeling. According to Pro Football Focus, the former Sun Devil is college football’s active leader in quarterback pressures.

PFF credits Green with 107 career pressures throughout three years and 36 games played in Tempe. He also racked up 60 total tackles, 21 TFLs and 13.5 sacks during that time.

Given the talent CU has placed around him this offseason, Green will get every opportunity to improve on those numbers as he will likely get one-on-one opportunities against offensive linemen. Green can also be moved around the line, as he has shown the ability to generate a pass rush from the inside.

With Green’s versatility and proof of production, opposing coaches and offensive linemen will be scheming to slow down Colorado’s pass-rush terror this fall.

B.G. Green II should be a pillar of Colorado’s defense next season

Talented edge rusher B.J. Green II became the latest transfer portal player to join the Buffs this offseason, giving his commitment to Colorado on Monday.

The former walk-on spent the past three seasons at Arizona State before entering the portal and initially committing to Washington. Fortunately for the Buffs, head coach Deion Sanders, who coached Green as a youth player in Atlanta, managed to flip the four-star transfer to Boulder.

In 2023, Green finished with a team-high 11.5 TFLs and six sacks, including one against Colorado. He now comes to CU with one year of eligibility remaining.

Four-star transfer B.J. Green II flipped his commitment from Washington to Colorado

Former Arizona State defensive lineman B.J. Green II has made it official.

After visiting Boulder earlier this month, Green announced his commitment to the Colorado Buffaloes on Monday. He was previously committed to the Washington Huskies but has since changed his mind with Kalen DeBoer now at Alabama.

The 6-foot-1, 270-pound DL is the seventh four-star transfer to join the Buffs this offseason. A former walk-on from Atlanta, Green made a name for himself with the Sun Devils by wreaking havoc in the backfield of opposing offenses. During his three-year career at ASU, Green accumulated 60 total tackles, 21 TFLs and 13.5 sacks while playing on both the inside and outside of the D-line.

Green’s commitment reunites him with CU head coach Deion Sanders, who previously coached Green when he was a youth football player in Atlanta.
