Ohio State basketball 2023 recruiting commitment tracker

Keeping track of the Ohio State basketball class of 2023, updated if there are any changes. #GoBucks

Sure, Ohio State is known as a football school, but the Buckeyes do play a little hoops on the banks of the Olentangy and have had some pretty historic seasons over the years.

Former head coach Thad Matta ushered in the pinnacle of the OSU basketball period before things began to slip, and now Chris Holtmann is trying to get things back at that same level. To do so, the Ohio State staff will have to recruit at a higher level than what we saw over the last few years. And while Holtmann and company have had their fair share of recruiting wins, including a top ten class for 2022, it has to be sustainable.

Welcome then to the 2023 class that has the potential to be one of the best classes the Buckeye program has hauled in in a very, very long time.

To keep track of it all, we’re giving you our Ohio State basketball 2023 recruiting commitment tracker so that you can be in step with what the next batch of OSU cagers look like. As it stands right now, it’s a phenomenal class. We’ll update it if there are any changes, but for now, here are all four members of the 2023 class that have given their verbal commitment.

Three-star 2023 Ohio center commits to Chris Holtmann and Ohio State

Ohio State basketball got a big man commit for the 2023 recruiting class.

The Ohio State basketball team has its second commitment to the 2023 recruiting class with the announcement from a three-star center out of St. Mary’s Memorial High School in Ohio, Austin Parks.

At 6-foot, 9-inches, 240-pounds, Parks had offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Michigan State, Indiana, and more, but at the end of the day, he knew he was going to commit to the Buckeyes and decided to announce it to the world at a ceremony at his high school on Sunday afternoon.

The commitment moves OSU up to No. 12 in the country and fourth in the Big Ten, just behind Michigan State. Parks is ranked as the No. 148 overall recruit and 18th overall center in the country 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Parks plays bigger than his size and will likely be inserted into the frontcourt with Zed Key and last year’s big man in the 2022 class, Felix Okpara.

Michigan State basketball make top-5 for 2023 3-star big man Austin Parks

Michigan State basketball make top-5 for 2023 3-star big man Austin Parks

Michigan State basketball has had some issues at the center position ever since Xavier Tillman graduated. Tom Izzo and company will attempt to rectify that in the future. One possible option is Austin Parks, a 2023 3-star center out of Memorial High School in Saint Marys, Ohio.

Parks dropped his top-5 schools on Friday and the Spartans made the cut.

His top-5 are:

  • Michigan State
  • Dayton
  • West Virginia
  • Indiana
  • Ohio State

Two Big Ten rivals are also in the mix along with two schools from Appalachia.

Michigan State basketball to evaluate 2023 big Austin Parks

MSU is among 5 schools that will be evaluating 2023 C Austin Parks this week

Michigan State’s coaching staff has been seen trying to round out their 2022 recruiting class strong, but what many don’t see is how big and important the 2023 recruiting class will be.

We could see MSU take upwards to 5 players in the 2023 class, so getting a head start is needed.

Michigan State’s staff will be heading down to Saint Mary’s, Ohio, to evaluate a workout done by 2023 big man Austin Parks.

A 6-foot-9 center, Parks is currently unranked on all major recruiting services, but does hold 8 offers.

Michigan State has extended a scholarship offer to 2023 center Austin Parks of Saint Mary’s, Ohio.

Parks — who is listed at 6-foot-9 and 240 pounds — visited Michigan State on Monday, where it appears the Spartans handed him a scholarship offer. Parks is currently unranked on 247Sports in the 2023 class.

Despite being unranked, Parks has already picked up plenty of interest from numerous big-time programs. Along with the scholarship offer from Michigan State, Parks also has offers from Indiana, Ohio State, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Dayton, Ohio and Toledo.

Keep an eye on Parks’ recruitment as I would expect him to continue to gain attention from other big-time programs in the coming months.
