Joey Bosa did not practice. He missed Week 4 against the Raiders with toe and hamstring injuries, but the toe is the only thing listed on the injury report.

Chargers RB Austin Ekeler optimistic he will play vs. Cowboys

Austin Ekeler’s return gives a big boost to the Chargers’ offense.

The Chargers bye week was used as a way for players to restore their bodies and get up to full health, and one player who benefited from it was running back Austin Ekeler.

On Tuesday, Ekeler said that he expects to play this upcoming Monday against the Cowboys, adding that there is a “99%” chance.

Ekeler has been out since the season opener against the Dolphins when he sustained a sprained ankle. In that contest, he totaled 16 carries for 117 yards and one touchdown and hauled four passes for 47 yards.

Getting Ekeler back is a massive boost for a Chargers offense that has stalled at running the football the past three games after rushing for 233 yards on 40 carries in Week 1.

Additionally, Ekeler gives Justin Herbert another target in the passing game, which should be beneficial after the season-ending loss of Mike Williams in Week 3 against the Vikings.

Chargers HC Brandon Staley: ‘No timeline’ for Austin Ekeler, Eric Kendricks’ return

The Chargers were without Austin Ekeler and Eric Kendricks on Sunday.

Chargers head coach Brandon Staley provided an update on running back Austin Ekeler and linebacker Eric Kendricks on Monday.

After Ekeler and Kendricks missed Week 2 against the Titans, Staley said there is “no timeline” for their return, per The Athletic’s Daniel Popper.

Ekeler is dealing with an ankle injury that Staley called a “sprain,” while Kendricks is nursing a hamstring issue.

In Week 1 against the Dolphins, Ekeler finished with 16 carries for 117 yards and one touchdown and reeled in four of five targets for 47 yards.

This past Sunday, Joshua Kelley, who served as the primary back, rushed the ball 13 times for 39 yards. While it was an underwhelming performance on the stat sheet, the Titans have a stiff defense against the run.

Still, not having Ekeler, the do-it-all back for an extended period of time, would be a huge blow to the offense.

As for Kendricks, Kenneth Murray would resume the role as the defensive play-caller in his absence.

Chargers RB Austin Ekeler dealing with ankle injury

Austin Ekeler’s status for this week is unclear.

The Chargers could possibly be without their star running back this Sunday when they face the Titans.

According to head coach Brandon Staley, Austin Ekeler is dealing with an ankle injury and his status for practice this week is “to be determined.”

Ekeler suffered the injury during the Week 1 loss to the Dolphins.

In the contest against Miami, Ekeler finished with 16 carries for 117 yards and one touchdown and reeled in four of five targets for 47 yards

If Ekeler ends up limited or out this weekend, Joshua Kelley would be in line for the majority of the touches, with Isaiah Spiller complementing him and Elijah Dotson serving as the backup.

Chargers ‘hopeful’ RB Austin Ekeler can play vs. Patriots

Chargers RB Austin Ekeler did not practice for the second straight day.

Chargers running back Austin Ekeler was a surprise addition to the injury report on Thursday.

Dealing with a hip injury, Ekeler did not practice for the second consecutive day and is now questionable for this weekend’s contest against the Patriots.

Following Friday’s practice, head coach Brandon Staley said Ekeler felt sore after Wednesday’s session, which led to the decision of holding him out, adding that he is “hopeful” that the 26-year old can play.

With there not an established back behind Ekeler, not having him on the field would be a considerable loss. Ekeler has 73 of the team’s 139 carries, averaging almost 5 yards per carry, and has four rushing touchdowns.

In other injury-related news, it remains to be seen if defensive tackle Justin Jones will be activated off the injured reserve. Staley said Jones looked good in practice.

Chargers injury update: RB Austin Ekeler misses Thursday practice

The Chargers had a surprise addition to the injury report.

The Chargers appeared to be heading into the Week 8 bout against the Patriots with a relatively healthy squad.

However, there’s a possibility that the team could be with a key player who’s either banged up or not available altogether this weekend.

Running back Austin Ekeler was added to the injury report with a hip issue and did not practice as a result.

The severity of the injury remains to be seen and it will be closely monitored leading up into the contest.

This comes a day after Ekeler commented on the state of the backfield, adding that someone needs to step up and establish themselves as the second back.

If Ekeler is limited or ruled out, Justin Jackson, Joshua Kelley and rookie Larry Rountree will all have more opportunities to make their cases.

Checking in on status of Chargers RB Austin Ekeler following Thursday’s practice

Chargers running back Austin Ekeler is still dealing with a hamstring issue.

After missing practice on Wednesday, Chargers running back Austin Ekeler was a non-participant again today.

Ekeler, who is currently dealing with a hamstring issue, had his helmet and pads on but did not participate. Instead, he just watched from the side.

According to Pro Football Focus’ Doug Kyed, the team is optimistic Ekeler can play Week 1 barring any setbacks.

Ekeler had a hamstring injury that sidelined him for six games last season, which is why this is something that should be monitored closely leading up into the season opener.

If Ekeler isn’t able to go, Justin Jackson will be handed the keys as the lead back while Joshua Kelley and Larry Rountree compliment him.

Los Angeles will practice once more on Friday before flying out to Washington.
