LSU baseball run rules Grambling at The Box in dominating fashion

LSU made light work out of Grambling as it won 26-2 on Tuesday night.

LSU welcomed Grambling to the box for a mid-week matchup as the Tigers tune-up to play against the No. 1 team in the country this weekend. LSU made light work out of Grambling as they won 26-2.

The Tigers got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning, LSU initiated a double steal where [autotag]Ashton Larson[/autotag] stole second and [autotag]Michael Braswell III[/autotag] stole home to make it 1-0 LSU. Josh Pearson followed that with an RBI double to extend the lead to 2-0.

In the bottom of the second inning, LSU scored seven runs as [autotag]Brady Neal[/autotag] scored on a wild pitch, [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] hit a three RBI double, and [autotag]Hayden Travinski[/autotag] hit a three-run homer to increase the lead to 9-0 after two innings.

 

In the bottom of the fourth inning, LSU scored 13 runs as [autotag]Jared Jones[/autotag] hit an RBI double to increase the Tigers’ lead to 10-0. [autotag]Ethan Frey[/autotag] hit a sacrifice fly to score Tommy tanks and increase the lead to 11-0. [autotag]Mac Bingham[/autotag] hit a two-RBI single to increase the lead to 13-0. [autotag]Ryan Kucherak[/autotag] hit an RBI single to increase the lead to 14-0. Bingham then scored on a wild pitch to make it 15-0 Tigers.

[autotag]Jake Brown[/autotag] followed that with a two-RBI double to increase the lead to 17-0. Tommy followed that with a tank to increase the lead to 19-0. Neal then hit a three-run homer to increase the lead to 22-0.

In the top of the fifth inning, Grambling hit a two-run homer to put themselves on the board and cut the lead to 22-2. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Brown hit a two-run homer and [autotag]Zeb Ruddell[/autotag] hit a two-run homer to extend the lead to 26-2.

LSU will start a three-game series with No. 1 Texas A&M on Friday night at 7 p.m. CT.

LSU baseball fails to sweep Auburn, losing Game 3

LSU dug an early hole that was too deep to climb out of as it lost Game 3 and missed the chance to earn back-to-back sweeps.

LSU baseball dug an early hole that was too deep to climb out of as the Tigers lost Game 3 against Auburn 7-5, missing out on the opportunity to turn in back-to-back sweeps.

[autotag]Kade Anderson[/autotag] got the start on the mound for LSU in Game 3 as LSU went for a sweep of Auburn in Baton Rouge. Anderson was coming off of a start on Tuesday night where he threw 62 pitches in that game. It seems as though arm fatigue may have been an issue at Auburn teed off on him in the first inning to take a 5-0 lead.

Anderson was pulled from the game after only making two outs. [autotag]Will Hellmers[/autotag] entered after him and finished the first inning. [autotag]Griffin Herring[/autotag] then entered to pitch for the Tigers.

Auburn extended their lead to 6-0 in the top of the third inning on an RBI single. LSU finally got on the board in the bottom of the third inning when [autotag]Ashton Larson[/autotag] hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-1.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, LSU cut into the lead even further as [autotag]Stephen Milam[/autotag] hit a three-run homer to cut the Auburn lead to 6-4.

In the top of the sixth inning, Auburn was able to get some insurance thanks to an RBI double to extend the lead to 7-4. In the bottom of the seventh inning, LSU loaded the bases with no outs and Larson hit a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 7-5. With runners on the corners and only one out, LSU was unable to score any more runs.

LSU was unable to score in the eighth and ninth innings as Auburn took game three by a score of 7-5. The Tigers will be back in action Tuesday evening against Grambling State.

LSU baseball shuts out Auburn to take Game 1 Friday night

Gage Jump started on the mound for LSU, and he shut out Auburn 5-0 in Game 1.

LSU got the scoring started in the bottom of the fourth inning via the long ball. [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] hit a solo shot to give LSU a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the fifth inning, that trend continued as [autotag]Hayden Travinski[/autotag] hit a solo shot of his own to give LSU a 2-0 lead.

The score remained 2-0 LSU until the bottom of the seventh inning when LSU tacked on three more runs. [autotag]Alex Milazzo[/autotag] hit a two-RBI double and [autotag]Ashton Larson[/autotag] hit an RBI single to extend the LSU lead to 5-0.

 

Jump finished the game after seven full innings of work after allowing zero runs and only allowing two hits on six strikeouts and zero walks. [autotag]Christian Little[/autotag] finished the final two innings of the game as he struck out four of the six hitters he faced.

Game 2 of the series will start Saturday at 6 p.m. CT.

Missouri drew first blood in the bottom of the third inning when an error led to two runs for them. The score remained that way until the top of the fifth inning when [autotag]Paxton Kling[/autotag] hit a two-RBI double to score [autotag]Alex Milazzo[/autotag] and [autotag]Stephen Milam[/autotag] and tie the game 2-2.

In the top of the sixth inning, [autotag]Michael Braswell III[/autotag] walked with the bases loaded to extend the LSU lead to 3-2. In the top of the seventh inning, [autotag]Ashton Larson[/autotag] hit a solo homer to extend the lead to 4-2.

 

In the top of the eighth inning, Braswell hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 5-2, and in the top of the ninth inning, Milazzo scored on a throwing error to give LSU a 6-2 lead.

LSU will be back in action on Tuesday night against Nicholls.

Gage Jump finished the game with seven innings pitched, and he allowed only one run on three hits, 14 strikeouts and one walk.

This is the LSU team we have all been waiting on this season. The offense was smashing the ball and the pitching was on point as LSU opened its road series against Missouri with a 12-1 run-rule win in Game 1.

In the bottom of the third, Missouri scored a run to cut the lead to 8-1. In the top of the fourth inning, LSU scored three more runs. [autotag]Jared Jones[/autotag] hit a two-run homer and Travinski scored on a wild pitch to increase the lead to 11-1.

In the top of the sixth inning, Jones scored on a fielder’s choice to increase the lead to 12-1 as the Tigers looked to win via the run rule. Game 2 of the series will be Saturday at 4 p.m. CT.

LSU baseball succumbs to late rally as Vanderbilt evens series in Game 2

LSU squandered a chance to clinch its first SEC series win.

After taking Game 1 of the series last night, LSU could win their first conference tilt of the season if it could beat Vanderbilt in Game 2 on Friday night. Unfortunately, Vandy rallied late to win the game 8-6, setting up a Saturday rubber match at The Box.

[autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] started the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the first inning to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the third inning, Vandy hit a two-run shot against [autotag]Gage Jump[/autotag] to give the Commodores a 2-1 lead. LSU quickly answered that homer with two homers of their own. [autotag]Ashton Larson[/autotag] hit a solo shot and White hit a two-run shot to give LSU a 4-2 lead.

Vandy scored one run in the top of the fourth and the top of the fifth to tie the game 4-4. Jared Jones then put LSU back in the lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning to give LSU a 5-4 lead.

Vandy scored a run in the top of the sixth inning to tie it once again but LSU answered that run once again in the bottom of the inning as [autotag]Mac Bingham[/autotag] hit an RBI groundout to give LSU a 6-5 lead.

In the top of the eighth inning, Vandy hit a two-run homer against [autotag]Nate Ackenhausen[/autotag] to give Vandy a 7-6 lead late in the game. The Commodores scored another run in the top of the ninth inning to extend their lead to 8-6.

LSU was unable to score any more runs as the Tigers dropped game two 8-6. The rubber match will be played on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.

LSU baseball swept by Arkansas, moves to 0-3 in SEC series

The Tigers’ struggles since the start of SEC play continued in Fayetteville this weekend.

LSU was swept for the first time this season as Arkansas took all three games from the Tigers in a 7-5 win in Sunday’s Game 3.

[autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] was the leadoff hitter for the Tigers in game three and he led off the game with a solo homer to put the Tigers up 1-0.

In the bottom of the first inning, Arkansas hit a homer of their own to tie the game 1-1. In the top of the third inning, [autotag]Ashton Larson[/autotag] hit a two-run shot to give LSU a 3-1 lead.

In the top of the fourth inning, [autotag]Mac Bingham[/autotag] hit a solo shot to increase the lead to 4-1.

The Razorbacks would score six runs between the fourth and sixth innings to give the Hogs a 7-4 lead. In the top of the seventh inning, Bingham hit another solo shot to cut the lead to 7-5.

The Tigers loaded the bases in the top of the eighth inning but were unable to score any runs to cut into the Arkansas lead. LSU was unable to score any more runs as the Tigers lost 7-5.

The Tigers will be back in action against Southern on Monday at 6:30.

LSU joins Vanderbilt as the only other team to go 3-0 at the Astros Foundation Classic.

LSU took on Texas State in a battle of two teams who came into the game undefeated at the [autotag]Astros Foundation Classic[/autotag]. Texas State knocked off Houston and Texas while LSU knocked off Texas and Louisiana-Lafayette. Both teams entered the game looking to leave as one of the only two teams to go 3-0 on the weekend.

[autotag]Thatcher Hurd[/autotag] got the start on the mound for the Tigers and he had a quality start. He went five innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits, five strikeouts, and one walk. Hurd was the first LSU starter to give up an earned run during the Classic.

After that, a throwing error by Braswell resulted in two more runs scoring for the Bobcats to cut the lead to 6-3.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, LSU got two of those three runs back. Travinski hit an RBI double and [autotag]Stephen Milam[/autotag] hit an RBI double to extend the LSU lead to 8-3.

[autotag]Javen Coleman[/autotag] entered to pitch for LSU in the top of the seventh after [autotag]Christian Little[/autotag] got the Tigers through the sixth unscathed. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Milam hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 9-3. [autotag]Ashton Larson[/autotag] then entered to pinch hit for LSU and he hit an RBI single to make it 10-3 Tigers.

With the win, LSU moves to 11-1 on the season. LSU was crowned the champions of the Astros Foundation College Classic tournament after going undefeated and putting up a better run differential than Vanderbilt, who also finished the tourney 3-0. The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday against Southeastern Louisiana.
