A prominent cornerback prospect from Virginia recently made his way back to Clemson for another unofficial visit.

Oscar Smith High School (Chesapeake, Va.) four-star Asaad Brown returned to campus for the NC State game at Death Valley on Oct. 1, when he had the opportunity to experience Clemson’s famous pregame tradition for the first time.

Brown – ranked as high as the No. 10 cornerback and No. 116 overall prospect in the 2024 class – was also able to catch up with members of the Tigers’ staff, including cornerbacks coach Mike Reed and head man Dabo Swinney.

“It was a great visit,” Brown told The Clemson Insider. “Got a chance to sit down with Coach Swinney, Coach Reed. I enjoyed them running down the hill and the buses pulling around. It was definitely different to see it face-to-face.”

Brown had previously visited Clemson in June, when he picked up an offer from the Tigers.

The 6-foot, 178-pound junior feels his relationship with Clemson’s coaches “definitely” grew stronger during the latest visit this month, and he likes what defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin and the Tigers are doing on the that side of the ball.

One of the biggest things that stands out to Brown about Clemson, he said, is the coaching staff.

“They’re personal, relatable, and they seem like they know what they’re talking about,” he said. “I like the defensive coordinator, Coach Goodwin. I like what he’s done as far as the schemes he runs, and we talked about it a couple times. So, I like Clemson.”

Brown hopes to see early playing time when he joins his college of choice, and he views Clemson as a place where that could happen.

“If I come there, my plan is to get on the field when I get there, so do everything I can to make that happen,” he said. “I see Coach Reed plays the young guys, so I’m not worried about that.”

During Clemson’s 30-20 win over NC State, Brown enjoyed watching his former Oscar Smith teammate – Tigers freshman safety Sherrod Covil – see action and record a few tackles against the Wolfpack.

Brown has a close bond with Covil and said they continue to talk “on the regular.”

“He’s definitely coming into his own,” Brown said. “He’s doing good.”

Brown has also made several other trips this season, including ones to North Carolina, NC State and Virginia Tech. A couple more visits he has scheduled are to Penn State (Oct. 29) and LSU (Nov. 5).

In September, Brown dropped a top 10 featuring Clemson along with Arkansas, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, LSU, Florida State, North Carolina, NC State and Penn State.

As for where Clemson stands among his favorites, the Tigers are in the upper tier of that group.

“They’re definitely in my top three,” he said.

Star-studded visitors headed to Death Valley for Clemson-N.C. State game

Clemson will again play host to some top prospects for Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. game against N.C. State at Death Valley.

Here are some of the bigger names The Clemson Insider has confirmed as planned visitors for the Clemson-N.C. State game:

A couple of headliners among the recruits expected to be in attendance are a handful of five-stars in the 2024 and 2025 class, respectively. Jefferson (Ga.) linebacker Sammy Brown, Buford (Ga.) athlete KJ Bolden, Buford (Ga.) linebacker Jadon Perlotte and Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School offensive tackle David Sanders, Jr.

Sanders is the No. 1 overall player in the 2025 class, per 247Sports, which tabs Bolden and Brown as the No. 1 safety and No. 1 linebacker, respectively, in the 2024 class.

Clemson, of course, doesn’t offer recruits as young as Sanders, per the program’s policy. But the elite o-line prospect would love to add Clemson to his offer list in the future.

“That offer would mean the world to me,” he told The Clemson Insider back in May. “Clemson is definitely one of the schools that I like the most. So, that offer would mean the world. Knowing the coaches and them knowing my family, that just means even more. And then getting back down there and building that relationship with Coach Swinney and Coach Austin, it would just be great.”

Saturday will be of relative importance for Clemson offensive line coach Thomas Austin, as Clemson is set to host two of the Palmetto State’s top prospects in Woodland (Dorchester, S.C.) four-star offensive tackle Kam Pringle and Dillon (S.C.) four-star offensive tackle Josiah Thompson.

The 247Sports Composite considers Pringle and Thompson to be interchangeable Nos. 1 and 2 in the rankings.

Additionally, Greenville (S.C.) High School four-star Blake Franks is planning to attend Saturday’s game. Franks (6-5, 310) participated in the Dabo Swinney Camp this summer and visited Clemson multiple times since this past March. He received an offer from Clemson in late July.

He has heard from Clemson offensive line coach Thomas Austin and other members of the Tigers’ staff since the calendar turned to Sept. 1, when college coaches across the country could begin directly contacting junior prospects in the class of 2024.

“He (Austin) told me I’m a big priority,” Franks said to TCI recently, “and that he’s going to come to one of our games this year.”

Franks holds more than a dozen scholarship offers, including offers from schools such as Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Penn State and South Carolina along with Clemson.

He told TCI earlier this month that while he didn’t know at the time which schools comprise his top five, he definitely thinks Clemson “is high up there” on his list.

Perhaps the most intriguing prospect on the offensive side of the football that will be in The Valley this Saturday is Savannah (Ga.) Calvary Day School 2024 four-star quarterback Jake Merklinger.

The top-100 national recruit and the No. 9 ranked quarterback in the 2024 class per the 247Sports Composite rankings, has made three trips to Clemson in the last calendar year. While he hasn’t yet boasted an offer from the Tigers, he is firmly on their radar and moved up their recruiting board after his performance at Swinney Camp earlier this summer.

A couple of big-time receiver prospects are expected to be on hand as well in Burlington (N.C.) Hugh M. Cummings four-star Jonathan Paylor, Grimsley (Greensboro, N.C.) four-star Alex Taylor,  Cass (Cartersville, Ga.) four-star Sacovie White and King George (Va.) three-star Mekhai White.

The Clemson Insider originally reported that Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas four-star James Madison II would be in attendance, but his status for Saturday’s game is currently unknown with Hurricane Ian lashing through Florida.

Clemson will also play host to Perry (Ga.) Dakari Anderson, an intriguing receiver prospect in the class of 2024, holds a lone offer from Texas A&M.

Carrollton (Ga.) 2024 four-star tight end Caleb Odom announced that he will be in The Valley this weekend. Odom, who is considered to be a top-15 tight end in his class by the 247Sports Composite rankings, told The Clemson Insider back in August that he had been invited to some camps, but there was no hard interest from the Tigers just yet.

That appears to have changed as Odom, who will be at Saturday’s contest versus N.C. State, said that this weekend is “gonna be crazy.”

Switching over to the defensive side of the football, one of the top defensive back prospects planning to visit Clemson for Saturday’s game is Tavoy Feagin, a four-star cornerback from Carrollwood Day School in Tampa, Fla.

Feagin, a 6-foot, 170-pound junior, was the first player at his position to receive an offer from Clemson when the Tigers began dispensing offers to class of 2024 recruits back on June 1.

After traveling to Clemson for an unofficial visit in early March, Feagin made his way back to campus on June 2. Later in June, he included the Tigers among his top 10 schools, along with Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, North Carolina, Ohio State and Oklahoma.

“The reason why I put Clemson in my top 10 was because I really like the coaching staff and the atmosphere,” he said to TCI after dropping the list.

Feagin is ranked as high as the No. 73 overall prospect in the 2024 class by 247Sports.

The other top defensive back prospect that will be in attendance is Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith four-star cornerback Asaad Brown.

Brown — ranked as the nation’s No. 9 cornerback and No. 116 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by 247Sports — dropped a top-10 list earlier this month featuring Clemson along with Arkansas, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, LSU, Florida State, North Carolina, NC State and Penn State.

Among other notable recruits on Clemson’s anticipated guest list for Saturday’s game are Central (S.C.) D W Daniel 2023 wide receiver Jaylen Brown-Wallace, Lawrenceville (Ga.) 2024 four-star defensive lineman Justin Greene, Buford (Ga.) 2024 four-star defensive end KingJoseph Edwards, Chattanooga (Tenn.) Christian School 2024 four-star athlete Boo Carter, Pike Road (Ala.) 2024 four-star defensive lineman Malik Blocton, Taylor (Katy, TX.) 2024 three-star tight end Ian Flynt, Ponte Vedra (Fla.) 2024 three-star offensive lineman Jake Guarnera, Hough (Cornelius, N.C.) kicker Nolan Hauser, Northwestern (Rock Hill, S.C.) 2024 RB Turbo Richard, Lynchburg (Va.) Liberty Christian Academy 2025 four-star running back Gideon Davidson, 2025 Rabun Gap-Nacoochee (Georgia) School 2025 tight end Marshall Pritchett, Buford (Ga.) 2026 defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright and Cass (Cartersville, Ga.) 2026 quarterback Brodie McWhorter.

Clemson 2023 quarterback commitment Christopher Vizzina of Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christin School, offensive line commit Harris Sewell of Permian (Odessa, TX.), defensive end commit AJ Hoffler of College Park (Ga.) Woodward Academy, linebacker commit Jamal Anderson of Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek and offensive line commit Ian Reed of Vandegrift (Austin, TX.) will also be in The Valley on Saturday.

Tigers in top group for highly touted CB with Clemson connection

Clemson is in the top group for a highly touted cornerback prospect with a connection to the Tigers.

Oscar Smith High School (Chesapeake, Va.) four-star Asaad Brown dropped a top 10 on Monday featuring Clemson along with Arkansas, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, LSU, Florida State, North Carolina, NC State and Penn State.

Brown – ranked as the nation’s No. 9 cornerback and No. 116 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by 247Sports – shares a close bond with his former Oscar Smith teammate Sherrod Covil Jr., who is now a freshman safety for the Tigers, and Brown said they “talk on the regular.”

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound rising junior received an offer from cornerbacks coach Mike Reed and Clemson when he made an unofficial visit to campus back on June 9.

Reflecting on that visit, Brown discussed what stood out to him about it.

“Great facilities,” he said. “I loved how the coaches were very talkative. Everybody talked to me. Everybody had a smile on their face. Everybody seemed like they wanted to be there. So, when you’re looking at a school, that’s kind of important – that if the athletes there want to be there, that means it must be alright. Especially it would be my first time away from home for a while, so that’s something I’m looking at.”

Brown told TCI that his relationship with Reed was “definitely” growing and he was looking to attend a game at Death Valley this season.

“Great guy,” Brown said of Reed. “I can see myself getting developed by him. I’m ready to see what Clemson’s going to do this year. (Clemson has) a lot of good pieces, so I’m definitely hoping to come down there this year and see (the Tigers) play.”

Top CB with Clemson tie looking to experience ‘electric’ Death Valley atmosphere

A highly touted cornerback prospect with a connection to Clemson is planning to be back in Tiger Town this fall.

Oscar Smith High School (Chesapeake, Va.) four-star Asaad Brown told The Clemson Insider that he’ll make his way to Death Valley during the upcoming season to watch his former Oscar Smith teammate Sherrod Covil Jr., who is now a freshman safety for the Tigers.

“Oh yes sir, definitely,” Brown said to TCI when asked if he will attend a game at Clemson this season. “I’m going to definitely go support Sherrod.”

Brown – a top-115 national prospect ranked as the nation’s No. 9 cornerback in the class of 2024 by 247Sports – shares a close bond with Covil and said they “talk on the regular.”

Brown said he has also communicated with Mike Reed a couple of times lately and that the message from Clemson’s cornerbacks coach to him right now is “just keep working.”

“The season’s about to start, so I’m staying focused, getting ready to play ball,” Brown said.

Brown added that his relationship with Reed is “definitely” growing.

“Great guy,” Brown said of Reed. “I can see myself getting developed by him. I’m ready to see what Clemson’s going to do this year. (Clemson has) a lot of good pieces, so I’m definitely hoping to come down there this year and see (the Tigers) play.”

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound rising junior received an offer from Reed and Clemson when he made an unofficial visit to campus on June 9.

Looking back on that visit, Brown discussed what stood out to him about it.

Along with Clemson, Brown named LSU, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss and Texas A&M as schools he expects he’ll definitely get to during the upcoming college football campaign.

When he travels to Clemson, Brown is eager to get a taste of the Tigers’ famous pregame tradition.

“I would definitely like to see them run down the hill and experience that,” he said.

“It’s electric,” Brown added of Clemson’s game-day atmosphere from what he’s seen on TV. “It’s got a big crowd. The fan base at Clemson is phenomenal, so I would definitely like to experience that.”

Brown said “there’s a couple schools standing out” to him at this point in the process as far as how hard they’re recruiting him, and “Clemson definitely is one.”

Brown, who boasts three dozen total offers, told TCI after the Tigers pulled the trigger on an offer in June that they were “definitely” in his top three.

Has anything changed since then about where Clemson stands with him?

“Nah,” he said. “They’re still there.”

Brown, who has helped Oscar Smith to back-to-back state titles, is ranked as high as the No. 9 cornerback and No. 113 overall prospect in the 2024 class by 247Sports.

The Insider Report: Updates on newly offered prospects, latest on some remaining targets

In this week’s edition of The Insider Report, The Clemson Insider wanted to pass along the latest regarding some remaining class of 2023 targets for Clemson, as well as some updates on newly offered prospects in the 2024 class.

Following his decommitment from Kansas State this past week, rumors started to circulate that Derby (Kansas) four-star running back Dylan Edwards could presumably be an option for CJ Spiller and Clemson.

That looked to be the case when Clemson commits AJ Hoffler and Peter Woods began to tweet at Edwards about coming down to Tiger Town. After speaking with multiple sources, we can tell you that Hoffler, Woods and several others had begun to recruit Edwards on their own accord while trying to get Clemson’s coaches in the mix as well.

While there is interest from Clemson’s standpoint, Edwards may have already made up his mind about his next home. Following the timeline of events, Edwards announced an offer from Notre Dame on Wednesday, then proceeded to visit South Bend Thursday and later walked back his Kansas State pledge on Friday.

Unless something drastic changes, the expectation is that the Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year will commit to Marcus Freeman’s program in the coming weeks, if not the coming days.

Staying on the offensive side of the ball, Clemson could theoretically use a fourth and final scholarship on an offensive lineman in this class.

Thomas Austin and the Tigers landed their most recent offensive line commitment on Monday, July 4, from Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy (McDonough, Ga.) four-star Zechariah Owens, who joins a couple of other acclaimed offensive linemen in Clemson’s 2023 class — a pair of Lone Star State standouts in Permian High School (Odessa, Texas) four-star Harris Sewell and Vandegrift High School (Austin, Texas) four-star Ian Reed.

A name that came up in recent conversations with multiple sources is four-star DJ Chester, who is a high school teammate of Owens. Chester, who 247Sports considers to be the nation’s No. 6 tackle and No. 51 overall prospect in the 2023 class, has received extensive looks from programs like Auburn, LSU, Florida State, Michigan and Ole Miss.

In fact, the 6-foot-5, 305-pound offensive lineman was recently crystal balled to Brian Kelly’s program.

In any event, we’ve been told Chester is said to love the program. Whether Clemson still takes a fourth offensive lineman in the class remains to be seen.

Staying in the trenches, following Hunter Osborne’s commitment to the University of Alabama on Monday evening, Clemson’s full attention seems to be focused on North Gwinnett (Suwanee, Ga.) four-star defensive tackle Kayden McDonald.

McDonald was supposed to be at last week’s All In Cookout, but because of circumstances beyond his control, he was unable to attend. TCI was told that while several other Georgia high schoolers in Clemson’s commitment class received exceptions from their coaches to attend last Monday’s cookout, McDonald didn’t receive permission to go.

That doesn’t preclude him from visiting Clemson and possibly taking an official visit to a game this season. McDonald was crystal balled to Clemson over the weekend and the feeling remains that things are starting to heat up with the Peach State product.

Last but certainly not least, Clemson surprisingly doled out an offer to a Big Ten commit on Monday. Winton Woods (Cincinnati, Ohio) four-star defensive back Jeremaine Matthews, Jr. announced the offer via social media.

Matthews has been in consistent contact with Mike Reed, as the offer finally culminated Monday.

Clemson has one remaining defensive back spot open, which was seemingly reserved for Shelton Lewis following the All-In Cookout. With an Aug. 8 decision date looming, Clemson is said to be the leader in the clubhouse to land Lewis’s commitment.

In fact, TCI was told by a trusted source after Clemson offered Lewis, that the University of North Carolina, which has been deemed a favorite to land the Peach State defensive back after he walked back his Pitt pledge, feels like Clemson is going to land Lewis.

Whether that bears fruit come next Monday is anyone’s guess, but it’s still interesting that Clemson chose to move on Matthews. The Tigers weren’t the only program to offer Matthews on the first day of August, as Ole Miss also pulled the trigger on an offer.

At this point in time, Matthews told us that right now, he doesn’t really know if a visit to Clemson will materialize. There’s a lot going on right now and Clemson could also be full at the defensive back position if Lewis makes the expected move a week from today.

Update on top 2024 TE target

TCI checked back in to get the latest with the lone uncommitted tight end prospect in the 2024 class that owns an offer from the Tigers — Marian Central Catholic (Woodstock, Illinois) four-star Christian Bentancur.

The nation’s No. 4 tight end in his class per Rivals, Bentancur picked up the offer from Clemson on June 17, a couple of weeks after he competed in the first session of the Dabo Swinney Camp on June 1. He has since kept in touch with Clemson tight ends coach Kyle Richardson and the Tigers, who, according to Bentancur, have reiterated that “they are really interested” in him.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pound rising junior told TCI he plans to return to Clemson sometime this winter and “can’t wait to get back” to Tiger Town.

Schools that Bentancur plans to visit this fall, he said, are Ohio State, Penn State, Alabama, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Wisconsin and Iowa State.

Bentancur, who boasts 30-plus total offers, is simply taking in the recruiting process right now and doesn’t claim any favorites at this point.

Where would he say the Tigers stand with him right now?

“I’m not sure how far up there Clemson is, but they are pretty high!” he said.

As a sophomore last season, Bentancur recorded 53 receptions for 1,165 yards and 16 touchdowns.

The latest on a highly touted corner with Clemson connection

TCI also caught up with another highly regarded prospect who was offered by Clemson this summer as well – Oscar Smith High School (Chesapeake, Va.) four-star cornerback Asaad Brown, who has a tie to Clemson’s football program in the form of a former Oscar Smith teammate – Sherrod Covil, Jr., now a freshman safety for the Tigers.

Brown — the No. 9 cornerback and No. 113 overall prospect in the 2024 class according to 247Sports — received an offer from the Tigers when he visited campus on June 9. He told TCI that he has talked to Mike Reed a couple of times lately and that his relationship with Clemson’s cornerbacks coach is “definitely” growing.

Brown gave us his thoughts on Reed, calling him a “great guy” and saying, “I can see myself getting developed by him.”

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound rising junior is “ready to see what Clemson’s going to do this year” and said he’s “definitely hoping” to get to Death Valley to watch the Tigers and his former teammate play this season.

“I’m going to definitely go support Sherrod,” Brown said, adding that he communicates regularly with Covil, whom Brown shares a close bond with.

“I would definitely like to see them run down the hill and experience that,” he added.

Other schools Brown said he thinks he’ll definitely make it to during the season are LSU, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

Brown said the Tigers are one of the teams standing out to him as far as how hard they’re recruiting him.

After receiving the offer from Clemson, Brown, who holds three dozen total offers, told TCI that the Tigers were definitely in his top three.

Has anything changed since then about where Clemson stands with him?

“Nah,” he said. “They’re still there.”

Tigers ‘definitely’ in top 3 for newly offered CB with Clemson connection

A highly touted cornerback prospect with a connection to Clemson made his way to campus this week and left with a new offer from the Tigers in tow.

Cornerbacks coach Mike Reed pulled the trigger on an offer to Oscar Smith High School (Chesapeake, Va.) four-star Asaad Brown during his unofficial visit Thursday.

“It was cool. It was definitely one that I was wanting,” Brown said to The Clemson Insider regarding the offer. “I enjoyed the visit, enjoyed Coach Reed. I can really see myself getting developed by him.”

The way in which the offer was presented to Brown stood out to the 6-foot-1, 175-pound rising junior, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 10 cornerback in the 2024 class by 247Sports.

“They showed me a video,” Brown said. “Something that was special was they showed the video and they had Clemson highlights in the video, so that was something that was different. No other school had done anything like that before. One thing he (Reed) told me – make sure I stay focused, keep my grades right, and make sure I keep developing, don’t get complacent.”

Brown has a tie to Clemson’s football program in the form of a former Oscar Smith teammate – Sherrod Covil, Jr., who is now a freshman safety for the Tigers.

Brown has a close bond with Covil – Brown told TCI earlier this year that they’re not “just friends,” but “are family” – and the two have talked plenty about Reed and Clemson.

“We’ve spoken several times about just Coach Reed and the development with him,” Brown said. “He loves to be there, so I guess it would be the same for me.”

Brown certainly picked up a positive vibe from Reed while spending time with him during Thursday’s visit.

“If I come there, he’s going to be my second father,” Brown said. “So, it’s nothing but good energy with him, and I can see how he cares about his players.”

Overall, Brown came away from the visit very impressed by the atmosphere around Clemson with the coaches and players.

“Something that stood out, I never saw any of the coaches walking around with a frown on their face or like they were disgruntled about anything,” he said. “Like, the atmosphere was just different. It was a vibe where like even the players, everybody just wanted to be there.”

Brown will be at Georgia and South Carolina next week, and he expects to visit Arizona State and Texas A&M at the end of this month or the beginning of July.

All of those schools are among the 30-plus that have extended offers to Brown, who also boasts offers from big-time programs such as LSU, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee and Florida State among others.

Clemson is sitting well with the top-150 national prospect following Thursday’s visit and offer.

“They’re definitely in my top three,” Brown said of the Tigers.

Brown, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 113 overall prospect in the 2024 class by 247Sports, has helped Oscar Smith to back-to-back state titles.

Mutual interest between Clemson, former teammate of current Tigers’ freshman

There is mutual interest between Clemson and a talented cornerback in the class of 2024, who has a connection to the Tigers.

Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) four-star Asaad “BJ” Brown II has heard from Clemson quite a few times and is hopeful that an offer will be coming his way soon.

“I just know that the offer is coming,” Brown told The Clemson Insider. “I just finished my sophomore year, so I’m just waiting for it to officially come from Coach (Mike) Reed.”

Being that Brown is a sophomore, he can’t communicate directly with Clemson’s cornerbacks coach, though Reed has made it known that the Tigers are seriously interested in him. Brown has also heard the same thing from his now-former teammate, Sherrod Covil, Jr.

“That’s my dog,” he said of Covil. “We ain’t just friends, we are family. To play with him, especially in his last year, I consider it an honor because I’m now following behind in his footsteps.”

Covil (6-0, 190) signed with Clemson during the early signing period and officially enrolled last month. He’s already adapting to life as a freshman and will soon undergo his first spring practice as a Tiger.

“He said it felt like family to him,” he added. “That’s why he went. Of course, he tells me about the facilities and things like that, which is great to hear. But for right now, I’m just waiting for the (offer) to come through, but I’m definitely ready to come see and visit.”

Brown will get the opportunity to visit Clemson this spring. He said that he will definitely make it a priority to not only pay his former teammate a visit but to see what The Valley entails and has to offer.

Brown is intrigued by Reed’s reputation as a talent developer. It’s evident in his work with guys like AJ Terrell and Trayvon Mullen, who now play for the Atlanta Falcons and Las Vegas Raiders, respectively, and most recently with Andrew Booth, Jr. and Mario Goodrich, who are bound to be top draft choices come April’s draft.

“I just know that he does develop talent,” he said of Reed. “I’m just looking forward to building a relationship with him.”

While Brown looks to build relationships with college coaches, he’s also looking to build off Oscar Smith’s back-to-back state titles. As he previously stated, he’s following in Covil’s footsteps, and with that comes the added responsibility of leadership. He’s already taken on that leadership role, as he strives to help Oscar Smith earn a third-straight championship.

“I’m always working,” Brown said. “Right now, what I’m doing is getting some of my teammates that work, so we can go ahead and three-peat next year. It starts now. I don’t want to wait until the season to start before I assume that role. I’m assuming that role now.”

This past season, Brown was able to showcase his talent, but at the same time, he was able to see what he needs to work on in the offseason. Brown predicates his game on his speed and ball skills. He also doesn’t want you to forget about his track background.

“I mean, I feel like I’m a student of the game,” Brown said when asked to describe himself as a player. “I enjoy playing the (cornerback) position. I feel like I can play anywhere in the secondary. I had a good season this year. I gave up no touchdowns and only gave up one pass. I guess I’m doing something right.”

Brown (6-0, 175) has caught the eye of several high-profile universities and has already earned upwards of 20 offers from Power 5 program. Though, right now, he’s focused on his training and getting better each and every day.

“What’s given is easily taken,” he said. “Right now, I’m just focused on doing everything I can to keep these offers and get more.”

Brown was honest in what he’s searching for in a school at the next level. This offseason’s coaching carousel opened up his eyes to what he’s ultimately going to base his decision on when it comes time to sit down and decide on his future.

Though, he obviously has some time before he’ll even be thinking about that.
