Ravens fall to 7-4 as offense sputters in 18-16 loss to Steelers in Week 11

Ravens fall to 7-4 as offense sputters in 18-16 loss to Steelers in Week 11

Lamar Jackson will have to wait a few weeks to get that much-needed win over the Steelers after the Ravens sputtered in neutral for most of the afternoon in an 18-16 loss to Pittsburgh at Acrisure Stadium.

The NFL’s No. 1 ranked quarterback in QBR, Jackson was 16-33 passing for 207 yards (6.3 avg), one touchdown, one interception, and a 66.1 rating, the lowest of this season.

Jackson had four carries for 46 yards, while Derrick Henry was held to 65 yards (5.0 avg) on 13 carries and one rushing touchdown, tying the single-season franchise record for touchdowns.

Zach Orr’s maligned defense held Pittsburgh to 4-16 on third downs and 303 total yards, but Pittsburgh held the football for 36:22, compared to Baltimore’s 23:38.

The Steelers held the Ravens ‘ top-ranked offense to 329 yards and just 124 yards rushing. Justin Tucker’s two missed field goals will further magnify the two-point loss. On the day, Tucker was 1-3 on field goal attempts, while Steelers kicker Chris Boswell was a perfect 6-6, including a 57-yard field goal.

Baltimore will quickly regroup before a massive Monday night matchup against Jim Harbaugh and the 6-3 Los Angeles Chargers.

Arthur Maulet breaks down why he’s not a Raven just yet

Arthur Maulet is 0-2 against the Steelers and said he can’t be a true Raven until Baltimore defeats Pittsburgh

Every player signed or drafted by Baltimore wants to play like a “Raven” or be designated one by fans and head coach John Harbaugh.

It’s a title earned, and for Arthur Maulet, he’s not quite there yet in his mind, nor are his head coaches. While addressing the media on Tuesday, Maulet stated, “I’m not a Raven yet,”

Last season, Maulet played in 14 games and logged 37 tackles, two sacks, two fumble recoveries, an interception, and five passes defended.

The 30-year-old Maulet will compete with Ar’Darius Washington for the slot cornerback role.

Mike Tomlin on the villainous Week 11 matchup with Baltimore

In the Steelers-Ravens rivalry, ‘villains’ like Patrick Queen and Arthur Maulet are set to add fuel to the fire in Week 11.

There is no love lost between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens. Within an AFC North rivalry that burns so intensely hot it could mimic the sun, there are bound to be players deemed ‘villains’ by opposing sides.

During the Monday press conference, Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin highlighted former Steelers CB Arthur Maulet, now in Baltimore, and former Raven, current Steelers LB Patrick Queen, as two players who have crossed over to the other side of this heated rivalry.

Early in the 2024 offseason, Queen further stoked the flames, declaring, ‘I wanna be that villain; I wanna be that guy.’ When asked about Queen’s potential to embrace this ‘villainous’ role against his former team in Week 11, Tomlin responded emphatically, noting that while Queen will have his opportunity, he won’t be the only one: ‘There’s a lot of villains on both sides of this rivalry.’

With both teams hosting a variety of potential villains, including Queen, Maulet, and newly acquired Ravens WR Diontae Johnson, this matchup’s bad blood will be on full display in Week 11 on November 17th, at 1:00 PM EST.

Arthur Maulet ruled out of Ravens vs. Bengals; Andrew Vorhees among 3 questionable

The Baltimore Ravens have ruled out Arthur Maulet and listed Andrew Vorhees and Deonte Harty as questionable for Week 5 vs. Bengals

The Ravens are ruling cornerback Arthur Maulet out for Sunday’s matchup with the Bengals. Andrew Vorhees and Deonte Harty are among three players listed as questionable for Baltimore’s AFC North opener.

Maulet returned to practice this week after missing four games with a hamstring injury and appeared to suffer a setback on Thursday or Friday.

Vorhees, Harty, and Ali were all full participants in practice on Friday and should play, while the Bengals welcomed four key defenders back to the lineup.

Ravens-Bengals injury report: Andrew Vorhees among 4 listed as limited participants

Andrew Vorhees was among four Baltimore Ravens listed as limited participants ahead of Sunday’s game against the Bengals

The Ravens are getting healthier, with perfect attendance at Wednesday’s practice, but multiple players still appear on the Week 5 injury report.

Andrew Vorhees was among four players listed as limited participants, while Michael Pierce was a full participant ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Bengals.

The Bengals cleared defensive end Myles Murphy and defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson to return to practice, and designated Jackson for return from the Reserve/Injured list.

John Harbaugh hints at when Ravens CB Arthur Maulet may return

Arthur Maulet began the season on injured reserve, meaning that he was officially ruled out until week five.

Baltimore Ravens nickelback Arthur Maulet began the season on injured reserve, meaning he was officially ruled out until week five.

Maulet, 31, is recovering from a knee arthroscopy, and the earliest he could play is October 6th at Cincinnati.

While it doesn’t sound like he’ll return for that specific game, it does sound like his return could be not too long after that.

“He’s looked good,” head coach John Harbaugh said.

“It seems like he’s in good shape. He can’t go out there and practice yet until next week, but we’ll see what it looks like next week.”

While he hasn’t been practicing with the rest of the team, Maulet has been working with trainers at the practice facility.

When Maulet returns (the earliest might be in the Beltway rivalry on October 13th against the Washington Commanders), he could boost a beleaguered position group.

Given that Baltimore is last in the NFL in passing yards allowed, and by a wide margin, the secondary has received a lot of criticism thus far.

Getting another key player healthy and contributing (in this case, Maulet) would help.

Eric DeCosta confirms teams attempted to acquire talent from Ravens secondary

Eric DeCosta confirms teams attempted to acquire talent from Ravens secondary

The Ravens have one of the NFL’s deepest secondaries after drafting Nate Wiggins and T.J. Tampa and signing Eddie Jackson before training camp. With such depth, teams around the league are looking for a trade partner.

Baltimore GM Eric DeCosta said he received calls around cutdown day with teams interested in Baltimore’s secondary depth. DeCosta says he declined all deals, wanting to maintain extra bodies in an area where the team has struggled to keep players healthy.

“We’re strong in the secondary and we stayed strong,” DeCosta said.

The Ravens kept 11 defensive backs on the roster, with projected starting corners Marlon Humphrey and Brandon Stephens backed by first-round rookie Nate Wiggins, rookie fourth-round pick T.J. Tampa, and returning players Jalyn Armour-Davis and Ar’Darius Washington. Veteran slot corner Arthur Maulet is starting on injured reserve after having an arthroscopic knee injury, but he’s eligible to return after Week 4.

At safety, the Ravens have starters Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Williams, with veteran Eddie Jackson and rookies Sanoussi Kane and Beau Brade behind them.
