Navy at Army: Three things to know

  1. For the first time in 77 years, Army will host Navy at Michie Stadium. These service academies normally meet on a neutral field and were to play in Philadelphia for the fourth straight season. Attendance limits in the state of Pennsylvania caused both schools to agree to move the game, and it was Army’s turn to be the home team.
  2. While no fans will be allowed at Michie Stadium, the Brigade of Midshipmen and Corps of Cadets will be in attendance, roughly 9,000 in total, and President Donald Trump will also take in the game.
  3. The Middies are 1-4-1 ATS in the previous six head-to-head meetings. The Under has cashed in a whopping 15 of the previous 17 in this series. Temperatures will hover in the upper 30’s with a chance of afternoon showers in West Point.

Navy at Army: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Army 29, Navy 13

Money line (ML)

Army (-305) is the play at home, although betting more than three times your potential return is just note my style. PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

ARMY -7 (+100) is the way to go, and it’s not just because of its stellar offense. Army and Navy can run the ball with aplomb, but it’s defense that will make the difference here.

The Black Knights rank fourth in the nation with just 289.3 total yards allowed per game, and they’re eighth in the country with 16.3 points allowed per contest. Navy has been dinged for 32.0 PPG, and 212.6 rushing yards per game.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 37.5 (-115) is the play, as the projected total is just too low. Army will be amped playing this game on its home field for the first time since World War II, and Navy will offer very little resistance. A total in the 30’s is just too low for an Army offense which has scored 28 or more in three of the past four, and six of nine overall.
