USWNT vs. Argentina odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s USWNT vs. Argentina odds and lines, with expert women’s soccer picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The USWNT battles Argentina from Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Ky. Kickoff is set for Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET (TNT / truTV). Below, we preview FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the USWNT vs. Argentina odds, and make our expert Summer Olympic picks and predictions.

The USWNT will be playing the third match of a trio of October friendlies Wednesday, beating Iceland as a heavy favorite in the first 2 matches. Having won the gold medal in the Olympics last summer, the USWNT have regained global dominance, and they have shown that in their recent friendly as well. They beat Iceland 3-1 on Thursday and then again 3-1 on Saturday. Six players scored a goal in the 2 games showing this USWNT is among the most lethal top-to-bottom rosters they’ve had in a while.

Argentina didn’t make the Olympics and they have struggled to compete at a high level. They drew Uruguay 1-1 in their most recent match on July 13, and prior to that lost 2-0 to Uruguay on July 10. Argentina did play in the Gold Cup earlier this year and made it to the quarterfinal, where they lost 5-1 to Brazil, the team the USWNT beat for the Olympics Gold Medal game in Paris.

USWNT vs. Argentina picks and predictions

Prediction

USWNT 3, Argentina 0

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

There’s no value backing the USWNT here, especially as they are playing like one of the best teams in the world. The USWNT have been rattling off wins this season and have a 16-1-3 record on the year.

Argentina isn’t the caliber of team to put another blemish on this otherwise virtually spotless season. Avoid this as the USWNT are just too expensive to take.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 4.5 (-108).

Argentina doesn’t play at a fast pace and doesn’t score goals frequently. This is going to be a game similar to their Gold Cup group stage and less like their recent friendlies, which they have had offensive success. Argentina was held scoreless in 2 of 3 games in the group stage, and against quality sides like Mexico, USWNT and Brazil, they scored just 1 goal combined.

Argentina has gone Under this total in 4 straight games. The USWNT has gone Under in 3 of their last 5, and while they have tallied at least 3 goals in 2 straight games, the Argentina offense likely won’t get on the board unlike Iceland was able to.

Considering Argentina’s offense weakness and the USWNT inability to top this total alone, back UNDER 3.5 (-120).

Summer Olympics: France vs. Argentina odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s France vs. Argentina odds and lines, with expert Olympics men’s soccer picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The France battles Argentina Friday at Matmut Atlantique in Bordeaux, France. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET (Peacock). Below, we preview FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the France vs. Argentina odds, and make our expert Summer Olympic picks and predictions.

France, which came in 2nd in the World Cup at the international level in 2022, dominated the U23 group stage. As the hosts, France has won 2 of its 3 games by at least 3 goals. It kicked off Olympic play with a 3-0 win over the USMNT, which also cracked the knockout stage. France then beat Guinea 1-0 and New Zealand 3-0.

Neither France nor Argentina made the knockout stage in the 2020 Summer Olympics, an event won by Brazil.

Argentina, unlike France, had a rough start. Despite many of these players not being on the roster, Argentina-France is a repeat of the 2022 World Cup final, which Argentina won. In the Olympics, Argentina lost to Morocco 2-1 in the 1st match then took down Iraq 3-1 and Ukraine 2-0.

France vs. Argentina picks and predictions

Prediction

Argentina 1, France 0

Moneyline (ML)

TAKE ARGENTINA (+250).

There’s something to be said about having experienced players that have been in top knockout stage games before. F Julian Alvarez and D Nicolas Otamendi are the players over 23 year that are with Argentina, and the former was a key part in Argentina winning Copa America just a few weeks ago.

Argentina has a loss on its resume, but it had 7 more shots than Morocco. It then had back-to-back 2 goal wins. On the other hand, France beat up on the USMNT and then had a few dominant yet unimpressive victories.

France’s defense has struggled and has allowed 30 shots through its 3 matches. Expect a talented Argentina attack to break through a relatively untested French defense.

ARGENTINA (+250) is the way to go as the best value play here.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-145).

The Under, despite the expensive price, still has good value here. The defenses have been too good to assume the offenses will be able to consistently break through. Argentina has allowed 3 goals, 1 of which was a penalty kick, and it has allowed just 1 in its last 2 games. France has allowed 0 goals.

While both teams have scored with ease, this will be the most competitive game each has been a part of. In the 2020 Summer Olympics, 4 of the 6 games between the quarterfinals and semifinals went Under this total.

With both defenses having performed so far and the high intensity this game should have, take UNDER 2.5 (-145).

Copa America final: Argentina vs. Colombia odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Argentina vs. Colombia odds and lines, with Copa America expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

Argentina battles Colombia in the Copa America final Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Argentina vs. Colombia odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Argentina has been dominant in international play over the last several years. It won Copa America in 2021 and the World Cup in 2022 behind the world’s best player in F Lionel Messi. Argentina hasn’t looked as impressive as expected, but it still found its way to the Copa America title game. It won all 3 group stage matches, beating Canada 2-0, Chile 1-0 and Peru 2-0. It then took down Ecuador 1-1 (4-2 penalty kicks) in a quarterfinal and beat Canada 2-0 again but this time in a semifinal.

Colombia has looked more impressive than many predicted. It won 2 group stage matches — beating Paraguay 2-1 and Costa Rica 3-0. It also drew Brazil 1-1 in the group stage. Colombia routed Panama 5-0 in a quarterfinal before topping Uruguay 1-0 in a semifinal despite a 1st-half red card.

Colombia is 12th in the FIFA World Rankings, while Argentina is No. 1.

  • Over/Under: 1.5 (O: -174 | U: +142)
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: +186 | U: -235)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Argentina vs. Colombia picks and predictions

Prediction

Argentina 2, Colombia 2 — Argentina wins in penalty kicks

Moneyline (ML)

BET DRAW (+190).

Argentina has breezed through its competition so far in Copa America, but Colombia will be its most challenging task. Colombia has high-quality players like Liverpool F Luis Díaz. Former superstar M James Rodríguez has also made a nice rebound in this tournament with 1 goal and a team-high 6 assists.

When it has faced stiff competition, like Uruguay and Brazil, Colombia has either come out on top or been able to get a draw. Argentina is the older side with 37-year-old Messi up top and 36-year-old M Ángel Di María, who even started the last match. Colombia hasn’t played a top-15 side in 2024.

Expect a close battle with both teams playing at a high level. BACK DRAW (+190).

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (+186).

Colombia has gone Over this total in 5 of its last 7 games, and it has tallied at least 3 goals in 4 of those. It has the firepower to break through the Argentinian backline, which didn’t hold up well against Canada despite not allowing a goal. Canada ended with 9 shots, many of which the Colombia side would’ve capitalized on.

Argentina has scored at least 2 goals in 3 of 5 games in this tournament. While it has had a solid defense, this will by far be its most challenging opponent. The last time it faced a quality opponent, back-to-back friendlies vs. Uruguay and Brazil in Nov. 2023, Argentina allowed 2 and 0 goals, respectively.

At this value and given the capabilities of both attacks, TAKE OVER 2.5 (+186).

Copa America: Argentina vs. Canada odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Argentina vs. Canada odds and lines, with Copa America expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

Argentina battles Canada in the semifinal of Copa America Tuesday from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Argentina vs. Canada odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Argentina, which won Copa America in 2021 and the World Cup in 2022, has been on an international tear behind F Lionel Messi and G Emiliano Martinez. Argentina hasn’t looked as impressive as expected, but it is still among the final 4 nations. It beat Canada 2-0, Chile 1-0 and Peru 2-0 in the group stage and defeated Ecuador in a quarterfinal 4-2 on penalty kicks after tying 1-1 in regulation.

Canada, which was just 1-1-2 in the 4 friendlies leading up to Copa America, has an impressive roster that is captained by star Bayern Munich D Alphonso Davies. It did make the 2022 World Cup but lost all 3 group stage games. As for Copa America, it lost to Argentina 2-0 in the tournament opener before topping Peru 1-0 and tying Chile 0-0. In the knockout stage, it beat Venezuela 4-3 on penalty kicks after tying 1-1.

Canada sits 48th on the FIFA World Rankings, while Argentina is No. 1.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Argentina vs. Canada picks and predictions

Prediction

Argentina 1, Canada 0

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

Canada (+1000) is capable of winning this match. It has top-notch quality like Davies, but surrounding him with capable talent has been the difficult part. Canada ended with 9 fewer shots and 7 fewer shots on frame than Argentina in the group stage match between these 2 teams.

While the draw is the only playable side, especially considering both teams did so in the quarterfinals, it still isn’t suggested here, and AVOIDING a moneyline play is the smart decision.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-122).

Neither team has scored at will in this tournament, and it has generally been one with fewer goals.

Argentina has a top-tier keeper and other EPL players like Manchester United D Lisandro Martinez and Tottenham D Cristian Romero. Argentina has gone Under this total in all 4 games, holding a clean sheet in 3 of those 4.

Canada has gone Under in all 4 as well, going Under 1.5 goals in 2 of the 4. Considering these trends for both sides and the backline talent available for both squads, BET UNDER 2.5 (+122).

Copa America: Argentina vs. Ecuador odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Argentina vs. Ecuador odds and lines, with expert Copa America picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

Argentina meets Ecuador Thursday in a Copa America quarterfinal matchup. Kickoff from NRG Stadium in Houston is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Argentina vs. Ecuador odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

The big news surrounding Argentina is the fitness of F Lionel Messi. He has been training with the team, but his status for Thursday’s matchup is unclear due to a lingering leg injury. He missed Saturday’s match against Peru — a 2-0 win for Argentina — and manager Lionel Scaloni has said Messi is a game-time decision for this quarterfinal battle.

While Messi went scoreless in the first 2 Copa America games, he is still arguably one of the best players to ever step on the pitch, so his absence would be huge. Still, Argentina is the defending World Cup champion, and it has plenty of depth. F Lautaro Martinez has 4 goals in the tournament, while F Julian Alvarez is the other goal scorer for La Albiceleste.

G Emiliano Martinez has posted 3 consecutive clean sheets at Copa America with Argentina outscoring the opposition 5-0 in the 3 matches.

Ecuador was on the short end of a 2-1 setback to Venezuela in the opening match. F Enner Valencia, the team’s captain, had a high boot at 22′ which resulted in a red card, forcing La Tricolor to play the remainder of the match with just 10 men.

Ecuador bounced back by pounding Jamaica 3-1, and it held off a charge from Mexico in a scoreless draw to secure 2nd place in Group B.

D Piero Hincapie, MF Alan Minda, MF Kendry Paez and MF Jeremy Sarmiento have each scored in the tournament.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Argentina vs. Ecuador picks and predictions

Prediction

Argentina 1, Ecuador 1 (PK)

Moneyline (ML)

Playing DRAW (+310) in regulation is the way to go in this battle as the match isn’t likely to be decided before extra time. These teams should battle deep into the Houston night, and eventually it will come down to penalty kicks to determine a winner.

Martinez has been money in this tournament, and he’ll help Argentina advance, securing 1 of the final 4 spots in Copa America.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (-170) is a strong play in this match between CONMEBOL combatants. Argentina has kept a clean sheet in all 3 matches to date, but Ecuador should push the tempo, especially in the 2nd half, and it is deep enough to get on the board.

However, don’t look for more than 2 goals in full time, and it is expected that this match is decided on penalties. That won’t count against your total.

Copa America: Argentina vs. Peru odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Argentina vs. Peru odds and lines, with Copa America expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

Argentina battles Peru for each country’s final group stage action in the highly anticipated Copa America from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Argentina vs. Peru odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Argentina, as a nation, has been dominant over the last 4 years. Argentina won Copa America in 2021 with F Lionel Messi winning best player and G Emiliano Martinez winning best goalkeeper. Argentina then took down France in the World Cup Final in 2022. Argentina won all 4 friendlies leading up to Copa America, winning 3 of those 4 by multiple goals. Through its first 2 matches, Argentina beat Canada 2-0 and Chile 1-0.

Peru, which also played 4 matches leading up to the tournament, went 3-1-0 in those with the only match in which it didn’t win ending in a 0-0 draw against Paraguay. Peru drew Chile 0-0 June 21, in its first Group A action. It then lost to Canada 1-0 Tuesday, giving up the lone goal following a 58th minute red card shown to D Miguel Araujo. This is a must-win game for Peru.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Argentina vs. Peru picks and predictions

Prediction

Argentina 1, Peru 1

Moneyline (ML)

SPRINKLE DRAW (+300).

This wager is strictly on the fact that Argentina basically has the group won. Even if Canada were to win and Argentina were to lose, the latter would have to lose by several goals or Canada would have to absolutely throttled Chile in order for their standings to flip. Argentina should play competitively, but it will likely play the game at a slower pace and limit the playing time of its best talent.

Peru, on the other hand, has nothing to lose and must get a result. It showed great poise against Chile, drawing it 0-0 (Chile lost 1-0 to Argentina), and really only lost to Canada after that early 2nd-half red card. Peru is good enough to at least keep things close.

For a small wager, BET DRAW (+300).

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-162).

The Under has been ultra hot for both teams, and that should be expected to continue here. Peru has yet to score in this tournament, while Argentina has tallied 3 goals in 2 games and hasn’t allowed a goal.

The Messi-led side is the only team in the event to not allow a goal through 2 games. Peru is 1 of 4 teams that have yet to score as well and are 1 of 8 teams (16 in total) that have allowed 1 or 0 goals.

Considering those trends, BACK UNDER 2.5 (-162).

Copa America: Chile vs. Argentina odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Chile vs. Argentina odds and lines, with Copa America expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

Argentina battles Chile in its 2nd game of the highly anticipated Copa America from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Chile vs. Argentina odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Chile drew Peru 0-0 Friday in its 1st match of Copa America. It took 4 more shots than Peru but put just 1 of 11 attempts on frame. Chile controlled the game, possessing 65% of the match. Chile had won 2 of 3 friendlies coming into the event, having beaten Albania and Paraguay 3-0 apiece, while losing 3-2 to France. Chile sits 40th on the FIFA Men’s World Rankings.

Argentina, after winning the 2022 World Cup in dramatic penalty-kick fashion, is No. 1 in the FIFA rankings. It beat Canada 2-0 in its 1st Copa American match, ending with 19 shots and 9 on frame, respectively 9 and 7 more than Canada. Argentina also controlled the game for 65% of the 90 minutes. Led by F Lionel Messi, Argentina had won all 4 friendlies in 2024 leading up to the tournament.

Chile vs. Argentina picks and predictions

Prediction

Argentina 1, Chile 1

Moneyline (ML)

BET DRAW (+350).

While it doesn’t sit overly high on the FIFA rankings, Chile has been a solid opponent over the last year. It throttled Albania, which made the Euro 24 tournament, and lost 3-2 to France, ending with as many shots on frame as the 2022 World Cup finalist.

While Argentina didn’t necessarily struggle vs. Canada, it didn’t score until the 2nd half and didn’t capitalize on many of its chances. It hasn’t played many top sides in the last 8 months, having lost 2-0 to Uruguay and having beat Brazil 1-0 in November 2023.

Chile, with an experienced team that’s been playing well, could snag a draw. At this value, it’s worth a play. TAKE DRAW (+350).

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-116).

Argentina has gone Under this total in 6 of its last 9 games and has held its opponents scoreless in 4 of its last 6. It can defend at a high level. Argentina can also score behind its slew of talented strikers, including Messi who is among the best in the world.

While 41 years old, Chilean GK Claudio Bravo has the experience to command his backline well and keep the game close. Chile’s opening game ended 0-0, and it has held its opponent scoreless in 3 of its last 4 matches. Chile has gone Under this total in 5 of its last 9 games.

TAKE UNDER 2.5 (-116).

Copa America: Argentina vs. Canada odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Argentina vs. Canada odds and lines, with Copa America expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

Argentina battles Canada in the 1st game of the highly-anticipated Copa America from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Argentina vs. Canada odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Argentina has been hot over the last 4 years of international play, winning Copa America in 2021 with F Lionel Messi winning the best player award and GK Emiliano Martinez winning best goalkeeper. It then went on to win the World Cup in 2022 on the back of Messi. Playing with Inter Miami, Messi, who was already a global icon, has become a fan-favorite in the U.S. Argentina won all 4 friendlies leading up to Copa America, winning 3 of those 4 by multiple goals.

As for Canada, it has a highly impressive roster as well, led by star Bayern Munich D Alphonso Davies. Canada made the 2022 World Cup but lost all 3 Group F matches and didn’t qualify for the knockout stage. It played just 2 friendlies leading up to the tournament, losing 4-0 to Netherlands June 6 and drawing France 0-0 on June 9. Canada sits 48th on the FIFA Men’s World Rankings.

Argentina vs. Canada picks and predictions

Prediction

Argentina 2, Canada 0

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

Canada (+1000) has the high-end talent in Davies and Inter Milan F Tajon Buchanan. Its real problem is filling out the roster along those 2, and that has been the issue over the past few years. Against an ultra-talented side led by arguably the most centralizing and technical player in the world, Canada will stand little chance.

However, for the sake of a betting pick, Argentina at -360 has no value as it is far too expensive. The draw is the only playable side, but that’s not suggested here either. Ultimately, avoid the moneyline.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (+112).

Argentina is going to have one of its best keeper on the roster and has a slew of high-profile defenders like Man U’s Lisandro Martinez and Tottenham’s Cristian Romero. Both teams’ key issues will come in the middle of the pitch as Canada’s lack of talent may hurt its ability to possess and create many attacking chances.

Canada has gone Under this total in 2 of its last 3 games. Argentina has gone Under it in 5 of its last 8, holding a clean sheet in 5 of those. It should be able to repeat that type of performance.

Considering the lack of midfield strength and Canada’s lack of talent up top, take UNDER 2.5 (+112).

Argentina (0-1-1 / W-D-L) takes on Sweden (2-0-0) Wednesday in each nation’s final 2023 Women’s World Cup group stage match. Kickoff from FMG Stadium Waikato is set for 3 a.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Argentina vs. Sweden odds, and make our best Women’s World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Argentina opened its World Cup play with a 1-0 loss to Italy on July 24. It ended with just 1 shot on target and 47% of the possession. Against a weaker South Africa, Argentina made a dynamic comeback, scoring 2 goals after the 70th minute to tie the match at 2. Argentina had as many shots and 1 more shot on goal than South Africa. Argentina ranks 28th in the FIFA Women’s Rankings.

Sweden, the favorite in Group G, beat South Africa 2-1 but needed to pull off the come-from-behind win after getting down 1-0 in the 48th minute. It had 5 more shots and 2 more on frame than South Africa. It then blasted Italy, winning 5-0 Saturday. Sitting 3rd in the world rankings, Sweden is among the favorites to win the World Cup.

Argentina vs. Sweden picks and predictions

Prediction

Sweden 3, Argentina 0

Moneyline (ML)

PASS. LEAN BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE – NO (-145).

Sweden blasted an Italian side that ranks 16th in the world and also had beaten Argentina. In doing so, it allowed just two shots on goal. That’s an impressive performance.

While South Africa managed to break through, it had just 4 shots on goal against Sweden, netting 1. Argentina’s offense hasn’t been great and should struggle against a top side like Sweden, as it had just 1 shot on goal against Italy.

The moneyline plays are either too improbable or too expensive to play, but considering Argentina’s lack of consistent offense, take BOTH TEAMS NOT TO SCORE (-145).

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (-115).

The Swedish attack took a little bit to get going in its 1st game, but in its last 135 minutes (game and a half), it has 7 goals. It has scored 3 or more in 3 of its last 4 games and has scored 5 or more in 2 of its last 4.

Sweden has scored at least 3 goals in 4 of 7 games in 2023. There’s no reason to believe it will slow down even if it gets up by a goal or 2 against Argentina.

While Argentina is unlikely to score, and even the odds for both teams to score insinuate that, Sweden has allowed a goal in 4 of its last 5 games as well, making it reasonable to think Argentina could get on the board.

While Under this total has been hot in the tournament, in games in which one of these teams has performed, it is 3-1 O/U. Take OVER 2.5 (-115).

2023 Women’s World Cup: Argentina vs. South Africa odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Argentina vs. South Africa odds and lines, with Women’s World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

South Africa (0 wins, 0 draws, 1 loss) battles Argentina (0-0-1) Thursday from Forsyth Barr Stadium. Kickoff in the 2nd Group G match for each nation is set for 8 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Argentina vs. South Africa odds, and make our best Women’s World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

South Africa almost pulled off the unthinkable in a 2-1 loss to Sweden. It went up 1-0 with a 48th-minute goal from M Hildah Magaia. South Africa ended the game with 4 shots on goal amid its 10 shots, respectively 2 and 5 fewer than its opponent. It had just 31% possession as well. South Africa is 54th in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings while Sweden sits 3rd.

Argentina ranks 28th and also lost its opening match, 1-0 to Italy conceding in the 87th minute. Argentina’s offense struggled mightily, ending with just 5 shots and 1 on target despite having 47% of the possession. It had won 5 of its 6 friendlies coming into the event, having taken down No. 26 New Zealand in back-to-back matches in February.

Argentina vs. South Africa odds

Provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday at 8:14 p.m. ET.

  • Moneyline: Argentina +105 (bet $100 to win $105) | Italy +270 (bet $100 to win $270) | Draw +220 (bet $100 to win $240)
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: +150 | U: -210)

Argentina vs. South Africa picks and predictions

Prediction

Argentina 1, South Africa 0

Moneyline (ML)

BET ARGENTINA (+105).

Argentina struggled in its opener, but Italy and Sweden were both the favorites in the group, so its losing isn’t too shocking. It has a solid track record this calendar year which is worth backing. It beat Venezuela 3-0 on April 9. Venezuela even sits above South Africa in the world rankings.

Despite having scored, South Africa had minimal possession and was generally dominated against the top-tier Sweden. While Argentina will be more at its level, South Africa’s lack of control was concerning and could lead to fewer counter-attacking opportunities, which is where it did most of its work.

Argentina’s offense is better than it showed and South Africa had likely the best game it has had in recent history. Expect Argentina to improve and South Africa likely to fade to its mean. Take ARGENTINA (+105).

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN ALTERNATE UNDER 1.5 (+145).

Argentina had 1 shot on goal while South Africa had just 4 in each team’s opener. Neither team really showed much offensively, and against each other in a tournament in which the Under has been incredibly hot, backing fewer goals is the smart move here.

South Africa will have to build through its back and have fewer counterattacks in this battle which should showcase its lesser-than-ideal technical side.

With the Under hot in the tournament and both teams have struggled in their 1st matchday, take the UNDER 1.5 (+145).
