Kentucky doesn’t get any votes in the new AP Top 25 poll

Kentucky football took a tough loss to Vanderbilt and didn’t receive any votes in the AP Top 25.

Kentucky football played their worst game of the season on Saturday night against the Vanderbilt Commodores, and they lost 20 – 13. They had gotten votes in the top 25 polls the previous two weeks, but the US LBM Coaches Poll this week had them with no votes once again, and now the AP Top 25 poll has also shut them out.

The Wildcats are now 3 – 3 on the season, and continue to struggle on the offensive side of the ball. They have a very nice win against Ole Miss, and nearly beat the Georgia Bulldogs, but have looked bad in losses to South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

Just like the Coaches Poll, the SEC placed eight teams in the AP Top 25, led by Texas at number one. Three more teams from the conference were in the “received votes” category, including Vanderbilt.

Kentucky will try and rebound against the Florida Gators next week, but it will likely take more consistency before they find themselves ranked again.

Wisconsin remains unranked, six Big Ten teams included in latest AP Top 25 Poll

Wisconsin remains unranked, six Big Ten teams included in latest AP Top 25 Poll

The Wisconsin Badgers (4-2, 2-1 in Big Ten) remain unranked heading into Week 8. They were left out of the latest AP Poll following their 42-7 road win over Rutgers.

The Badgers built off their momentum from beating Purdue 52-6 in Week 6, improving to 6-0 all-time against Rutgers. Wisconsin was also left out of the latest US LBM Coaches Poll after the win over the Scarlet Knights, failing to garner any votes for yet another week.

The top five of the AP Poll saw some reorganizing after Week 7, but Texas stayed at No. 1. After beating Ohio State, Oregon moved up to No. 2, while Penn State also went up one spot following their win over USC. Lastly,  Georgia at No. 4 and Ohio State at No. 5 rounded out the top five.

The Big Ten teams in the AP Poll top 25 include Oregon at No. 2, Penn State at No. 3, Ohio State at No. 5, Indiana at No. 16, Illinois at No. 22 and Michigan at No. 24.

Wisconsin will attempt to secure a third straight win when they travel to face Northwestern on the road next Saturday at 11:00 a.m. CT.

Did Texas A&M rise in the newest AP Top 25 Poll?

Here is the newest AP Top 25 Poll after Week 7 action

Texas A&M (5-1, 3-0 SEC) enjoyed the week off amid the first of two bye weeks, as head coach Mike Elko and his team will now shift their focus to a Mississippi State team that went toe to toe with Georgia on the road this weekend.

Still positioned as the first-place team in the SEC standings, the Texas Longhorns are right on the Aggie’s tail after destroying a beat-up Oklahoma team 34-3 in the annual Red River Rivalry.

The rest of the SEC slate was enjoyable from start to finish, beginning with Alabama’s nail-biting win against South Carolina. At the same time, Tennessee nearly fell to Florida at home before taking charge of overtime, mostly due to Vols running back Dylan Sampson’s big day on the ground.

However, both teams look more like pretenders than contenders over the last two weeks, and you can also throw Ole Miss into that group after the Rebels fell to LSU in OT in a game where they led by double digits.

Even during the bye week, Texas A&M has risen to No. 14 in the newest AP Top 25 Poll, while Texas remains the No. 1-ranked team. Ole Miss has dropped nine spots to No. 15 after falling to LSU.

Here is the link for the rest of the AP Top 25.

Texas A&M will face Mississippi State on the road on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 3:15 p.m. CT. The game will air on the SEC Network.

Where does Clemson rank in new AP Top 25 Poll after Saturday?

Take a look at where Clemson is ranked in the new AP Top 25 College Football Poll following Week 7.

The Clemson Tigers’ impressive 49-14 road win over Wake Forest in ACC play Saturday didn’t have any effect on their standing in the AP Top 25 College Football Poll, released Sunday.

Clemson stayed at No. 10 in this week’s AP poll, while two teams jumped ahead of Dabo Swinney’s Tigers. The LSU Tigers (5-1) moved up five spots to No. 8 in this week’s poll after their 29-26 overtime victory against rival Ole Miss in Baton Rouge, while the unbeaten Iowa State Cyclones (6-0) moved up two spots to No. 9.

Clemson moved ahead of the Tennessee Volunteers (No. 11) in the rankings after the Vols needed overtime to get past the Florida Gators 23-17. The Tigers also remained ranked ahead of Notre Dame (No. 12) and a surging BYU Cougars (6-0, No. 13) team from the Big 12.

Penn State (6-0) rose one spot to No. 3 while Ohio State dropped two spots to No. 4. The Georgia Bulldogs (5-1) rounded out the top five.

The Miami Hurricanes (6-0) stayed at No. 6 following their Week 7 bye. The ‘Canes will head to Louisville this weekend to take on the Louisville Cardinals.

Elsewhere in the ACC, the Pitt Panthers (6-0) moved up two spots to No. 20, and the SMU Mustangs (5-1) rose four spots to No. 21.

Despite blowout win, Notre Dame falls in AP Top 25 poll

What do the Irish have to do to get back in the top 10? Probably beat a stronger opponent than Stanford.

Notre Dame has to be wondering what it can do to catch a break — or if it’s being unfairly punished for a bad day at home against Northern Illinois last month.

Or maybe poll voters just don’t respect the quality of the Fighting Irish’s opponents.

Of course, the Irish could just be collateral damage from other games.

Whatever the cause, despite beating the Stanford Cardinal 49-7 at home in South Bend, Notre Dame slips one spot in the AP Top 25 poll to No. 12.

Despite falling to Oregon by just a point in a nail-biting thriller, Ohio State falls only two spots to No. 4. The Ducks, meanwhile, move up a spot to No. 2.

Penn State moves to No. 3 despite nearly being upset by USC.

Texas stays at No. 1 and Georgia remains No. 5. Alabama doesn’t move even after being nearly upset for the second time this season — the Crimson Tide are still No. 7.

Other big movers include Tennessee — the Volunteers fall three spots to No. 11 despite beating Florida. LSU jumps five spots to No. 8 after beating Ole Miss — and Ole Miss drops nine places to No. 18.

Army and Navy are both in the Top 25, with Army at No. 23 and Navy at No. 25. Illinois is at No. 22 and the Michigan Wolverines are No. 24.

How many spots did Texas A&M rise in the newest AP Top 25 Poll?

Texas A&M has deservedly risen in the newest AP Top 25 poll after defeating Missouri 41-10 in Week 6

Texas A&M (5-1, 3-0 SEC) looks like one of the best teams in the conference after demolishing Missouri (4-1, 1-1 SEC) 41-10 on Saturday afternoon. Looking to build momentum heading into the bye week, the return of quarterback Conner Weigman helped pave the way for an elite performance from the Aggie offense.

Weigman completed 18/22 for 276 yards on the day. While he didn’t throw a touchdown, the Aggie ground game produced 236 rushing yards and five touchdowns as OC Collin Klein’s impressive scheme with Weigman under center produced chunk gains in the passing game to set up successful runs in the red zone.

Defensively, Texas A&M’s defensive line continued its dominance in last week’s win over Arkansas, producing six sacks and eight tackles for loss while limiting the Tigers to 68 yards on the ground. At the same time, Missouri QB Brady Cook threw for 186 yards and one touchdown.

Texas A&M’s win over Missouri was technically an upset due to the Tigers’ previous top 10 ranking, but the chaos that followed the win has completely shaken up the newest AP Top 25 rankings. Alabama and Tennessee both fell on the road, keeping A&M atop the SEC standings.

Who’s the new No. 1? Here are the newest AP Top 25 rankings after Week 6.

Clemson football surges into Top 10 of new AP Top 25 Poll amid huge shakeup

Take a look at where Clemson lands in the new AP Top 25 College Football Poll.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers have gradually made their way up the Top 25 rankings over the past month. That trend continued in a big way Sunday with the release of the new AP Top 25 College Football Poll.

Clemson (4-1) rose five spots to No. 10 in the AP poll following their 29-13 victory over the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday night at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee. It was the Tigers’ fourth straight win as they improved to 3-0 in ACC play.

The Tigers were one of the biggest risers in this week’s AP poll after a stunning week of upsets that saw two Top-5 teams fall on the road. Three teams that had been ranked ahead of Clemson — the Missouri Tigers, Michigan Wolverines and USC Trojans — also fell on the road.

In addition to Missouri, Michigan and USC losing, Clemson also jumped past two other teams that were ranked ahead of them last week: the LSU Tigers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Both Notre Dame (No. 11) and LSU (No. 13) were idle this weekend.

RELATED: How far did Clemson rise in Week 6 US LBM Coaches Poll after massive week of upsets?

Among ranked teams, Clemson joined the Iowa State Cyclones (5-0, No. 11) and Indiana Hoosiers (6-0, No. 18) as teams that climbed five spots. The only team that made a bigger jump than Clemson in this week’s AP Top 25 Poll were the Texas A&M Aggies, who soundly defeated Missouri, 41-10. Texas A&M rose 10 spots to No. 15.

Within the top 10, the previously No. 1-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide lost 40-35 at Vanderbilt, and the Tennessee Volunteers fell 19-14 to the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville. Alabama dropped six spots to No. 7 in the AP poll; Tennessee fell four spots to No. 8.

The Texas Longhorns (5-0) were ranked No. 1 with the Ohio State Buckeyes (5-0) ranked No. 2. The Oregon Ducks rose three spots to No. 3 while the Penn State Nittany Lions (5-0) climbed three spots as well to No. 4. Georgia rounded out the top 5 at No. 5.

The Miami Hurricanes remained the ACC’s highest-ranked team at No. 6, rising two spots from last week following their fourth-quarter comeback against the California Golden Bears in Berkeley.

Elsewhere in the ACC, Pitt (No. 22, 5-0) and SMU (No. 25, 5-1) jumped into the Top 25 this week, while Louisville dropped out.

Clemson visits Wake Forest this Saturday for a noon ET kickoff in Winston-Salem. The game will be televised on ESPN.

Notre Dame jumps three spots in AP Top 25 poll without even playing

Notre Dame moves up three spots without even playing.

Even though the Notre Dame Fighting Irish had the week off, they gained three spots in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, moving up to No. 11.

A slew of upsets on Saturday caused a lot of movement on the poll. The Alabama Crimson Tide dropped from No. 1 to No. 7 after being upset by Vanderbilt. Not to be outdone, Tennessee lost late to Arkansas and fell four spots to No. 8.

Missouri plummeted 12 spots to No. 21 after losing to Texas A&M, which jumped from No. 25 to No. 15. Defending national champion Michigan  slipped 14 spots to No. 24 after falling to Washington in a title-game rematch.

Schools that moved up included Texas, which went from No. 2 to No. 1, and Ohio State. The Buckeyes moved up from No. 3 to No. 2. The Nittany Lions of Penn State jumped three spots to No. 4 and the Oregon Ducks also moved up three spots — they now sit at No. 3. Georgia remains in No. 5.

Miami hung on to beat Cal and moved up two spots to No. 6. With Alabama at No. 7 and Tennessee at No. 7, the top 10 gets rounded out by Ole Miss moving up three spots and Clemson shooting up five spots to No. 10.

Wisconsin absent, Big Ten well-represented in latest AP Poll

Wisconsin absent, Big Ten well-represented in latest AP Poll

The Wisconsin Badgers (2-2) are still unranked in the latest AP Poll after their 38-21 loss to USC on Saturday.

The Badgers are not particularly close to being ranked either, as they have now dropped back-to-back contests after starting 2-0. Coming as no surprise, Wisconsin was also not included in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll as well.

In regards to the AP Poll as a whole, there’s a new No. 1 overall team as Alabama unseated Texas for the top spot. The Crimson Tide defeated Georgia 41-34 in a shootout Saturday night, earning the top spot.

The new top five is Alabama at No 1.., Texas at No. 2, Ohio State at No. 3, Tennessee at No. 4, and Georgia at No. 5.

The Big Ten teams in the AP Poll top 25 include Ohio State at No. 3, Oregon at No. 6, Penn State at No. 7, Michigan at No. 10, USC at No. 11, Indiana at No. 23 and Illinois at No. 24.

The Badgers will return to action Saturday, hosting Purdue at Camp Randall Stadium at 11:00 a.m. CT.

Where is Texas A&M ranked in the newest AP Top 25 Poll?

Did Texas A&M rise in the AP Top 25 Poll after defeating Arkansas?

Texas A&M (4-1, 2-0 SEC) defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks (3-2, 1-1 SEC) 21-17 in a game that featured an Aggie defense holding the Razorback’s running game to just 100 yards. At the same time, the pass rush harassed quarterback Taylen Green throughout the afternoon.

Offensively, Texas A&M’s run game struggled in the first half before junior running back Le’Veon Moss picked things up late, rushing for 90 of his 117 yards in the second half. Quarterback Marcel Reed, who started his third consecutive game this season, completed 11/22 for 163 yards and two touchdowns through the air while rushing for another score.

However, Reed’s accuracy issues downfield continued to be an issue, though his accuracy increased between the numbers, completing 71% of his passes for 384 yards and three touchdowns this season. How will the offensive game plan change next Saturday before facing Missouri? We shall see, but leaning on the offense’s strengths is key.

With the win, Texas A&M’s positioning in the newest AP Top 25 Poll was very confusing, as the Aggies looked to have dropped out of the rankings after an SEC victory. However, Texas A&M is tied with UNLV at No. 25, as the site is fixing the glitch.
