Ohio State moves up in latest AP Top 25 College Football Poll

Ohio State moves up in the latest AP Top 25 College Football Poll.

It was a game of leapfrog for the AP Top 25 College Football Poll in week two. Alabama rolled and stayed in the No. 1 spot. After that, teams jumped all around.

Ohio State moved up the ladder one spot after beating Minnesota on the road, skipping ahead of Clemson and Oklahoma. The Sooners didn’t look like the trendy pick everyone has been making them out to be after hanging on to beat Tulane. And Clemson looked very pedestrian after losing the much-hyped matchup with Georgia. The Bulldogs jumped all the way from No. 5 up to No. 2 after knocking off Dabo and the Tigers.

Penn State was close to cracking the top ten after taking care of Wisconsin in Madison. And how about Iowa dismantling Indiana to move into the No. 10 spot, setting up a top ten showdown with arch-rival Iowa State this weekend.

This is what makes college football so great. Every single week matters and no opponent can be taken lightly.

LOOK. Ohio State actually doesn’t drop in one of the major polls

Despite being placed at No. 4 in almost every opinion and/or college football poll out there, Ohio State remained steady in the AP Poll.

In a shocking development the way things are going with the national narrative, the Ohio State football team actually held steady in one of the major polls instead of dropping behind Clemson. That’s right, the Amway Coaches Poll and College Football Playoff Rankings may have OSU at No. 4, but the Associated Press is sticking to its guns and keeping the Buckeyes at No. 3, behind both Alabama (1), and Notre Dame (2).

Ever since the CFP Committee decided to throw Ohio State behind one-loss Clemson, almost every media site, poll, and talking head has decided to follow suit and set up the narrative that OSU just isn’t as good as they thought. It’s only played four games and sat out last week because of coronavirus concerns, so that didn’t help matters.

Behind the three aforementioned teams, and rounding out the top ten are Clemson (4), Texas A&M (5), Florida (6), Cincinnati (7), BYU (8), Miami (9), and Indiana (1).

We still don’t know what the situation is at Ohio State when it comes to potentially getting back on the field this Saturday for a game at Michigan State, but we’ll stay on top of any further developments.

In the meantime, here’s the rest of the AP Top 25 College Football Poll

Ohio State in same position in latest AP Top 25 College Football Poll

Ohio State is still holding steady in the latest AP Top 25 College Football Poll after Saturday’s close shave against Indiana.

We’ve already gotten the same result from the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. OK, I get it. Ohio State didn’t exactly make the impression it needed to against a top ten Indiana squad. Still, it was a win over a top ten team right?

Regardless, on national television, the Buckeyes’ perception took a hit, and they didn’t move up at all in the latest AP Top 25 College Football Poll, holding steady at No. 3 right behind Alabama and Notre Dame. For the first time this year, we have a team taking all the first-place votes with Tide getting all 62 of them.

It has now been several weeks since the Buckeyes have had any movement in the two major polls. But it really doesn’t matter because the College Football Playoff Poll is what counts, and we’ll get the first look at those initial rankings on Tuesday.

Behind the big three trio and rounding out the top ten include Clemson (4), Texas A&M (5), Florida (6), Cincinnati (7), BYU (8), Oregon (9), and Miami (10).

Ohio State treads along in latest AP Top 25 College Football Poll

Ohio State remained idle and so too did its ranking in the latest Associated Press Top 25 College Football Poll just released.

We’ve already gotten similar news from the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports, and now we have the same from the latest AP Top 25 College Football Poll. Yes, Ohio State hasn’t move anywhere and remains at No. 3 in the poll behind both Alabama and Notre Dame.

It has now been several weeks since the Buckeyes have had any movement in the two major polls. Still, it hardly matters since neither poll has anything to do with the postseason prospects of OSU, with all the eggs in the polling basket firmly in the College Football Playoff Rankings that won’t come out for first time until Tuesday, November 24.

But alas, it’s fun to debate and poke holes in, so we’re bringing you the latest. Behind the aforementioned trio and rounding out the top ten include Clemson (4), Texas A&M (5), Florida (6), Cincinnati (7), BYU (8), Indiana (9), and Wisconsin (10).

Ho hum. Ohio State still hanging around top five in AP Poll, all while chaos breaks lose around it

The Ohio State football team cracked back into the top five in the latest AP Poll as game week finally arrives. But about those AP voters…

I tell ya, trying to figure out the minds of the major poll voters is hard enough. Add a little pandemic into the mix and they lose their minds trying to overanalyze and undervalue things.

Case in point Ohio State. There’s not an able-bodied person out there worth anything that thinks the Buckeyes aren’t one of the best teams in the country this year. I mean, OSU was pretty much a preseason consensus No. 2 in the country before the Big Ten closed shop for the fall, behind only Clemson.

After all the drama of remodeling the season, the Big Ten reopened the season and Ohio State went back into the polls lower because “it hasn’t played a game yet.” Okay.

Anyway, fast-forward to just one week before the season and the Buckeyes have moved up one whole spot — to No. 5 in the AP Poll. This, despite several teams like North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida losing ahead of them. Heck, The Bulldogs dropped one whole spot after getting publicly dismantled in the second-half by Alabama.

The top ten now resembles a case of renovations gone rogue. Clemson and Alabama remain No. 1 and No. 2, followed by Notre Dame (3), Georgia (4, snicker snicker), Ohio State (5), Oklahoma State (6), Texas A&M (7), Penn State (8), Cincinnati (9), and Florida (10).

Oh well, at least the major polls don’t mean a hill of beans any longer and are really just for fun debate and fodder. And … at least there’s a game on tap for Ohio State this Saturday. Yes, it is officially game week.

Ohio State remains No. 6 in AP Poll

Ohio State stayed right where it was last week in the Associated Press Top 25 College Football Poll just released.

Ohio State is sitting idly by, prepping for the season and it appears the major polls are doing the same. The Buckeyes stayed steady in the most recent release of the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports and did the same in the Associated Press Poll that was also revealed Sunday, remaining also No. 6.

It’s clear that some of the pollsters don’t really know how to treat the Buckeyes and the rest of the Big Ten and Pac-12 as all of those Power Five teams wait to begin the season. Some voters aren’t even including teams on their ballot that have not played, while others are voting based on how good they think those squads are.

Ohio State is the only team not named Alabama or Clemson that received first-place votes (two of them), and you have to wonder what will happen after Ohio State actually gets on the field and shows what it can do.

Anyway, back to the AP poll, the top ten consists of Clemson (1), Alabama (2), Georgia (3), Florida (4), Notre Dame (5), Ohio State (6), Miami (7), North Carolina (8), Penn State (9), and Oklahoma State (10)

Ohio State, Big Ten teams not in latest release of AP Top 25 poll

The latest AP Top 25 College Football Poll is out and Ohio State and other Big Ten teams are still not included. Look towards next week.

The Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY was released earlier today, and after not appearing the last couple of weeks because of the Big Ten’s decision to shelve the fall football season, the Buckeyes appeared back just inside the top ten with the news that football is back in the heartland. It’s a curious ranking, but one that doesn’t really matter at this point.

And, on the heels of the Away Poll, the AP Poll was also released. In another curious move, none of the Big Ten teams are included in the poll at all. The usual suspects at the top are there with Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Georgia in the top four, but nary a mention of any Big Ten teams.

But that’s okay. Before you revolt against the Associated Press, it appears as though Big Ten teams were not eligible for inclusion this week, but will be included with the next release.

So, we’ll wait for the shouting and teeth-gnashing until next week. It’ll be interesting to see if the AP comes in line with the coaches and doesn’t immediately vault Ohio State directly up into the top five.
