Everything we know about Captain America: New World Order so far

We’re here to give you the rundown on what we know about Captain America: New World Order.

When Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige announced the lineup for Phases 4, 5, and 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a fourth Captain America film wasn’t the biggest headline of the day for most fans. While many fans have enjoyed seeing Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson take on the mantle of the Captain America, the departure of Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers from the MCU has been a loss that many feel the franchise has yet to recover from.

As the months have passed since that big announcement, little by little we’ve learned more about Marvel’s plans for a fourth Cap movie and with each new tidbit, the excitement around the film has grown. For many Marvel fans, Captain America: New World Order (as we now know the title to be) is quickly becoming the most anticipated MCU project outside of the upcoming Avengers movies.

So what exactly do we know about this movie so far? We’re here to give you the rundown and get you caught up on why many fans are now expecting Captain America: New World Order to be as big an event as Captain America: Civil War was back in 2016.

Star Saints players, celebrity fan Anthony Mackie catch up with Russell Wilson at Pro Bowl

Star Saints players and celebrity fan Anthony Mackie caught up with Russell Wilson at the Pro Bowl:

Any college football fan knows this adage: always be crootin’, and I do mean always. The best college teams know how important it is to keep recruiting pipelines running on schedule. It’s critical that they recruit new playmakers to replace outgoing talent, and there’s always room for more blue-chip prospects on the roster. Always.

So hopefully the New Orleans Saints are embracing this approach at the Pro Bowl, where they have a unique opportunity to maybe make a big splash. Longtime Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is leading the NFC squad this year, and he won Thursday’s Pro Bowl Skills Showdown off the strength of his arm (now several months removed from surgery to his throwing hand).

As fortune would have it, the throwing competition was judged by a big-time celerity Saints fan: Anthony Mackie, the star of Marvel Studios’ The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series on Disney+. And he took a moment to catch up with Wilson before the show started, joined by some of his favorite players — Alvin Kamara and Cameron Jordan, who have also joined Wilson on the NFC roster this week. They even took a nice photo together for the Saints to share online.

Hopefully some words were exchanged with the Saints on the recruiting trail. Jameis Winston is a free agent in March, and Taysom Hill has a lengthy recovery ahead after he racked up injuries last season. Their championship-caliber defense just needs a star quarterback like Wilson to step in and elevate the offense. If the team’s next head coach wants to make a splash, finding a way to trade for Wilson from the doomed Seahawks regime sure would be one way to do it.

Wilson has been linked to the Saints ever since last summer, when his agent gave Seattle a list of teams he’d waive his no-trade clause to move to. And New Orleans is the only team from that list to remain unsettled under center. If Wilson is interested in joining a Sean Payton-less Saints team, and if the Saints are willing to pay up — well, those dots start to connect themselves, don’t they?

But all jokes and speculation aside, we shouldn’t look into this too deeply. Wilson is at this event with these Saints players because they’re on the same all-star roster. Mackie is there because Marvel Studios is owned by Disney, which also owns ESPN, who is broadcasting the event. All four men are celebrities in their own right, and they aren’t about to pass up an opportunity to appear together on social media. It’s probably nothing more than a quick fun photo-op.

Then again, what if it isn’t? What if Kamara and Jordan and Mackie are aware of what’s most important — to always be crootin’?

Anthony Mackie spoofs James Harden at the ESPY Awards

American actor Anthony Mackie did not hold back at the ESPY Awards when impersonating James Harden.

American actor Anthony Mackie — or shall we say Captain America — mocked James Harden at the ESPY Awards in a hilarious clip.

Mackie did an impression of Harden in his final days with the Houston Rockets. As Harden was making it clear he did not want to remain with the Rockets at the start of the 2020-21 season, it seemed he had put on a lot of weight. Miraculously, when he got traded to the Nets for some reason it looked like he slimmed down.

Nevertheless, the Beard’s wish was granted: He got out of Houston. Many believe Harden did it on purpose to make sure it happened, but this is all speculation:

It’s a good week to be a Saints fan. Between Zaila Avant-garde’s historic victory at the Scripps National Spelling Bee and Dustin Poirier’s win over Conor McGregor at UFC 264, Louisianans are on the rise. New Orleans’ own Anthony Mackie, a leading actor for Marvel Studios’ “Avengers” projects, was hosting the 2021 ESPY’s Awards with Avant-garde in attendance while Poirier was pummeling McGregor on Saturday night.

And Mackie didn’t let the moment pass by unnoticed. He congratulated Avant-garde on her success while also recognizing her skills as a basketball prodigy and owner of multiple world records,

“I’m most excited tonight because one of my favorite athletes from New Orleans is in the house. Sorry Drew Brees, you’re old news, alright” Mackie joked. “You don’t count no more. I’m talking about the spelling bee champ.”

But he didn’t let the opportunity for some ribbing to pass by, either. From one New Orleanian to another, he quipped: “That’s NOLA’s finest right there, but I’ma let you pass for being from across that river though, we don’t got to talk about that.” For those not in the know, that’s a friendly jab in the West Bank-East Bank rivalry, referring to the opposing sides of the Mississippi River — with Mackie doing his part to represent his Mid-City roots in the East.

Still, it’s great to see them all thriving in a big spot. Avant-garde, 14, has already lived up to an all-time-great name with her accomplishments but has a bright future with all of the college scholarship offers pouring in. Mackie is lined up to star in many more feature films. And Poirier wasn’t satisfied with a win by doctor’s stoppage against McGregor; he’s already eager to meet his rival again in the octagon. The Saints themselves might be keeping quiet ahead of training camp, but the people who make their fanbase great are as busy as ever.

Anthony Mackie absolutely roasts Sixers star Ben Simmons at ESPYS

ESPYS host Anthony Mackie absolutely roasts Philadelphia 76ers star, Ben Simmons, at the show.

Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons just recently wrapped up a tough postseason in which he shot just 34.2% from the free-throw line and it affected his overall offensive game. His aggression went down as he did not want to get fouled and go to the line.

Since then, Simmons has been the punchline of jokes and the subject of trade rumors and suggestions as it appears that maybe the Sixers could look for an upgrade at his position. However, despite the serious playoff struggles, Simmons is still one of the talented players in the league and it might be worth trying to work with him through these tough times.

The jokes continued at the 2021 ESPYS on Saturday as host Anthony Mackie took the stage and made a joke that Simmons earned the “humanitarian award” for building homes for orphans with his bricks from the playoffs. He also had two little girls up on stage who said “thank you” to Simmons.

It was all in good fun, but this should be one of those moments for Simmons where he uses it as motivation to continue to grow as a player on the offensive end of the floor. Even if he does not come back with a jumper, if he can improve from the foul line, that is a big game-changer for the Sixers.
