Chiefs elevate practice squad WR ahead of Week 8 matchup vs. Raiders

The Kansas City #Chiefs elevated WR Montrell Washington from their practice squad on Saturday.

The Kansas City Chiefs elevated wide receiver Montrell Washington to their 53-man roster from the practice squad on Saturday, October 27 ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Washington has been an on-and-off member of Kansas City’s roster since last season, when he initially joined the Chiefs on August 31, 2023.

He was waived by Kansas City earlier this year when training camp concluded but quickly re-signed to the Chiefs’ practice squad.

Though he is now a member of Kansas City’s 53-man roster, it is likely that Washington will be sent back to the practice squad after the Chiefs’ matchup against the Raiders on Sunday.

Don’t expect Washington to be a key part of Andy Reid’s game plan for Las Vegas, especially given Kansas City’s acquisition of DeAndre Hopkins earlier this week.

Stay tuned to see if Washington sees the field when the Chiefs take on the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium in Week 8.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes discusses Raiders rivalry, Kermit The Frog doll video

Kansas City #Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes discusses Las Vegas #Raiders rivalry, Kermit The Frog doll video | @EdEastonJr

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke with reporters on Wednesday about the latest chapter in the rivalry with the Las Vegas Raiders kicking off this Sunday.

“We know we’re gonna get their their best shot. I mean, that’s kind of how it’s been every single week,” said Mahomes. “But obviously, when you play a divisional opponent, like I’ve said in the past, (there) is a real rivalry between our two teams and our two organizations. You’re gonna get their best shot, and we’re gonna go out there and match that and let the best team win.”

In July, the Raiders fired the first shot ahead of the new season against the Chiefs with their viral Kermit the Frog doll video comparing it to Mahomes. The reigning Super Bowl MVP addressed his nonconcern with the clip heading into Sunday’s showdown.

“I don’t know if you would say resonates with me,” said Mahomes. “I think just knowing that the competitive spirit that they have on that side is going to match the competitive spirit that we have, I think it’s going to be a fun football game that we’re going to get the best out of each and every player on that football field. And like I said, the best team will win.”

The Chiefs’ last defeat came last Christmas Day to the Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium. The visit to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will also be Kansas City’s first time back since winning Super Bowl LVIII.

Mike Tomlin in awe of the power of Steeler Nation

After the game, Mike Tomlin gushed about the Steelers fans that filled Allegiant Stadium.

It has become commonplace to see Steeler Nation just take over opposing stadiums when the Pittsburgh Steelers are on the road. This was definitely the case on Sunday as Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders got turned into Acrisure Stadium West.

Before the game, head coach Mike Tomlin came out and was wowed by the sheer masses of Steelers fans in the seats. he gave them a hat tip after the 32-13 win as well. Then he led off his post-game press conference with another acknowledgment of how appreciative he and the team are to see so many Steelers fans in the stadium.

Now the Steelers get to come home for two straight weeks as they head to the bye week. Steeler Nation can pack the stadium against the New York Jets and New York Giants over the next two weeks as the Steelers hope to head into their week off at 6-2 and with a fighting chance at an AFC North title.

Raiders hold second public training camp practice at Allegiant Stadium

Raiders hold second public training camp practice at Allegiant Stadium

For the second time in two weeks, the Raiders will be holding an open practice for fans to view. Last Wednesday they invited fans into Allegiant Stadium to watch a practice and now they will do it again.

Date: Tuesday, August 20

Time: 6pm – 8pm

Location: Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas NV

This will be the final public practice for the Raiders. They will then have one more camp practice at their facility in Henderson before their final preseason game at Allegiant against the San Francisco 49ers on Friday.

So, basically, there are just three more opportunities for roster hopefuls to make an impression before the roster cuts are due a week from today on August 27.

Las Vegas Police Union threatens to stop working Raiders games

A new NFL security policy soon to be enacted has the Las Vegas Police Protective Association sounding alarms and suggesting officers no longer staff Raiders games if the new rules go into effect.

A new NFL security policy soon to be enacted has the Las Vegas Police Protective Association sounding alarms and suggesting officers will no longer staff Raiders games if the new rules go into effect.

The policy in question will require gameday staff to submit biometric data including an image of their face via an app before they can gain full clearance at the stadium.

President of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association Steve Grammas made a statement about the changes, emphasizing that the heart of the issue for the union is that collecting this information from staff in such a manner could lead to the data falling “[into] the hands of people who are anti-cop that support a different agenda than what law and order supports.”

The union successfully pushed back on a liability waiver that staff would have been required to sign when working at future games at Allegiant Stadium, however, Grammas is not optimistic about reaching a deal that avoids the NFL collecting biometric data on those working the games.

Negotiations are ongoing between the NFL and Las Vegas Police authorities, expect further updates as the start date of the policy nears.

WATCH: Tom Brady, country star Morgan Wallen BOTH rocking Raiders gear at concert

WATCH: Tom Brady, country star Morgan Wallen BOTH rocking Raiders gear at concert

Morgan Wallen took the stage at Allegiant Stadium Friday night for a stop on his tour. And he did so wearing a Raiders No. 98 Maxx Crosby jersey. But wait, there’s more. He was flanked on his walk to the stage by Mike Tyson and Tom Brady with Brady wearing a Raiders hat.

Brady has recently sought to purchase a stake in the Raiders, so it isn’t entirely random that he would be there and wearing a Raiders hat. It’s just a little strange to see considering how he was Raider Nation public enemy number one for so many years due to the Tuck Rule debacle launching his string of Super Bowls.

As for Wallen wearing a Crosby jersey, well, he is in Vegas, playing a concert at the home of the Raiders. And Crosby is their biggest star.

Wallen rose to stardom from as a contestant on The Voice and is referred to as a country pop star.

Las Vegas Raiders Allegiant Stadium tickets most expensive in NFL

Las Vegas Raiders Allegiant Stadium tickets most expensive in NFL

Oakland Coliseum definitely had its faults .Fan atmosphere was not one of them. In part because the game day experience was among the most affordable in the league. And even if they didn’t always pack the joint in the lean years (there have been many), the crowd was always dominated by Raiders fans.

You can’t say the same since the team relocated to Las Vegas. Their swanky new Allegiant Stadium is routinely filled with visiting fanbases.

A big part of the reason why could be the cost of tickets. Other fans don’t mind paying it for one game in Vegas, but the average Raiders fan may have a good bit of trouble being able to shell out the cost of going to 8-10 games a season.

So, how does Allegiant compare to other stadiums in the NFL? Glad you asked, The folks over at NJ.bet went about ranking stadiums by price to attend a game. The Raiders came in with the highest average ticket price while Allegiant came in as the third most expensive game day experience.

The Raiders easily have the most expensive average ticket prices ($168.83), The next most expensive is the 49ers ($161.33). Then there’s a big dropoff for the Patriots ($142.74).

After factoring in average prices for parking, food, and drink, Allegiant ends up with the third most expensive game day experience ($212.81).

The only teams more expensive to attend a home game are the 49ers ($227.65) and Eagles ($213.51).

After the Raiders, there is a significant dropoff in game day pricing. The next most expensive is more than $18 cheaper (Packers) and seeing the Cowboys play at their luxurious digs is a full $26 cheaper.

The expensive price might be worth it if the fan experience was top notch. But Allegiant ranked 19th among stadiums in fan experience. This includes being ranked fourth worst in terms of parking a transit and only seven teams had a lower attendance percentage.

Something might have to change in terms of ticket prices

Raiders announce open training camp practice dates

Raiders announce open training camp practice dates

When the City of Costa Mesa announced the Raiders would be holding their training camp there this season, they said there would be at least some of those practices open to the public. While that turned out not to be the case, the Raiders are stepping up to give the fans in Vegas a chance to see this year’s squad practice.

The team announced Tuesday they will be holding two open practices at Allegiant Stadium in the weeks leading up to their preseason matchups with the Cowboys and 49ers.

Those practices will take place on August 14 and 20.

Both practices will start at 6pm with entry at 5pm.

Tickets are limited, so fans are encouraged to secure theirs as soon as possible. You can get a ticket RIGHT HERE.

The food prices at Super Bowl 58 in Las Vegas are unsurprisingly expensive

Can I interest any of you in a $17 “premium” beer?

If you’ve acquired a ticket to Super Bowl 58 — which, on the low end, were going for more than $6,500 a head on the secondary market — odds are that money is not a major concern of yours.

That’s a good thing, because if you’re going to be looking for refreshment during the game, the concession stand prices at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas are about as steep as you would expect.

While some of the food items are fairly reasonably priced — $11.99 for two tacos isn’t too bad — it’s a bit of a different story when it comes to beverages.

If you’re interested in a Bud Light, which is considered a “premium” beer, it’s going to cost you $16.99. If you’re looking for something a bit fancier, such as a Michelob Ultra or a Bud Light Seltzer, it’ll cost you a few more dollars.

Somehow, even a deluxe cocktail is cheaper!

Ultimately, it’s fairly typical pricing for stadium fare, and it’s not surprising to see a slight surge during the Super Bowl in Las Vegas. The prices generally go in line with those of past Super Bowls

But let’s be honest: $14.99 for a souvenir bucket of popcorn is borderline criminal.

WATCH: Taylor Swift, Blake Lively, Ice Spice enter Allegiant Stadium for Super Bowl LVIII

Taylor Swift entered Allegiant Stadium with Ice Spice and Blake Lively ahead of the #Chiefs’ matchup against the #49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.

Taylor Swift made her entrance to Allegiant Stadium for Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday afternoon as she prepared to watch Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs play the San Francisco 49ers for a chance to defend their championship.

Swift, who has been involved with Kelce in a high-profile celebrity relationship, performed to a crowd in Tokyo, Japan yesterday, and made the trip back from Asia to watch her boyfriend perform on the NFL’s biggest stage.

She was flanked by musician Ice Spice and actress Blake Lively as she made her way through the stadium, a sign that her high-profile guests are likely to appear in group shots on the television broadcast.

While it is unclear exactly where Swift and her companions will be seated for the star-studded Super Bowl, their presence is sure to captivate the national audience that will tune in to see which team takes home the Lombardi Trophy.
