Golfweek’s 2023-24 preseason men’s college golf All-Americans

Here’s a look at the Golfweek’s 2023-24 preseason men’s college golf All-Americans.

The 2023-24 college golf season is upon us, which has our minds looking ahead to the postseason awards.

Sure, the summer just ended, but it’s never too early to look ahead.

Highlighting Golfweek’s 2023-24 preseason men’s college golf All-Americans is no other than Nick Dunlap, the sophomore at Alabama who lit the amateur golf scene on fire this summer with his numerous victories, none bigger than his triumph in the 2023 U.S. Amateur at Cherry Hills Country Club outside of Denver. Dunlap earned second-team All-America honors last season, where he had one win at the Linger Longer Invitational and posted the second-lowest single-season stroke average in school history at 70.35.

The 2023-24 college golf season is upon us, which has our minds looking ahead to the postseason awards.

Sure, the summer just ended, but it’s never too early to look ahead.

Highlighting Golfweek’s 2023-24 preseason women’s college golf All-Americans is Megan Schofill, the graduate student from Auburn who captured the 2023 U.S. Women’s Amateur at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles. Runner-up twice at the SEC Championship during her career, Schofill finally got over the hump in the City of Angels, capturing the signature win of her career. Last season, Schofill was a second-team All-America selection.

Here’s a look at the Golfweek’s 2023-24 preseason women’s college golf All-Americans.

Notre Dame football: Morrison disrespected as third-team preseason All-American?

Disrespect?

I’ll start this by saying that I’m not huge on preseason All-American teams.  If you think the significance of preseason team rankings is useless then the announcement of preseason All-American and all-conference teams is significantly more-so.

However, they do help generate conversation and as we get into summer and games are still almost 12 weeks away I’m not against more college football conversation.

In looking at the Athlon Sports college football preview magazine I was caught a bit by their preseason All-American teams in regards to a Notre Dame player.

Offensive tackle Joe Alt was named a first team member, something nobody is going to argue.  However, Benjamin Morrison appeared not on the first or second teams but instead on the third-team.

I’m not going to freak out over this because I’ll save that for things that are significant but nobody listed on the first or second teams touched Morrison’s six interceptions a season ago.  That’s not to say interceptions are the only thing that matter in regards to a corner but they’re clearly significant.

Kool-Aid McKinstry (Alabama) and Kalen King (Penn State) were the first-team cornerback selections while Cooper DeJean (Iowa) and Fentrell Cypress (Florida State) were on the second-team.  Will Johnson (Michigan) joined Morrison on the third-team.

Again, I’m not going to lose my mind over it, but just thought it was worth pointing out.

Enjoy a few of the best photos from Benjamin Morrison’s Notre Dame career to date below!

Notre Dame commit named Preseason MaxPreps First Team All-American

All eyes will be on him when he comes to the Irish.

[autotag]Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa[/autotag] is getting rave reviews from everywhere. The California-based four-star linebacker, who recently picked Notre Dame over USC and Ohio State, very well could follow in the footsteps of recent Irish linebacker All-Americans like [autotag]Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah[/autotag] and [autotag]Jaylon Smith[/autotag]. Until then, we will see how well he continues to develop at the prep level. MaxPreps thinks that will go well as he was named to its Preseason All-American First Team.

Here’s what MaxPreps has to say about the 2024 commit and his relevance to St. John Bosco in Bellflower:

“Played a huge role on defense for the 2022 MaxPreps National Champs racking up 111 tackles.”

Racking up that total in any season for the Irish would be nice. No Irish player has approached that number since [autotag]Te’von Coney[/autotag] had 116 and 123 tackles respectively in 2017 and 2018. That alone should give Irish fans reason to be excited about his arrival in a year’s time. And the fact that he chose the Irish over two other college football powerhouses makes it all the sweeter.

CeeDee Lamb, Kenneth Murray named second-team All-Americans by AFCA

CeeDee Lamb and Kenneth Murray were named second-team All-Americans on the 2019 AFCA FBS coaches team.

After finishing 11-1 and winning their fifth consecutive Big 12 championship, CeeDee Lamb and Kenneth Murray were named second-team All-Americans on the 2019 AFCA FBS coaches team.

Lamb finished his junior campaign with 58 catches for 1208 yards and 14 touchdowns. He’s had six games over 100 receiving yards this season, and four over 150. He finished as one of the three Biletnikoff finalists, the award for the best receiver in college football, but fell behind Jerry Jeudy on the AFCA list. Jeudy was not nominated for the Biletnikoff. Lamb is averaging 20.8 yards per catch.

Murray has totaled 95 total tackles this year in Alex Grinch’s improved defensive scheme. Murray’s numbers are down from last year’s 155 total tackles, but he has more tackles for loss with 16, and nearly the same amount of solo tackles with 65.

Jalen Hurts finished second in Heisman voting to Joe Burrow, but failed to make the AFCA second-team, losing out to Ohio State’s Justin Fields, who finished third in the Heisman race.

No. 4 Oklahoma kicks off against top-ranked LSU on December 28 at 3 p.m. CT in Atlanta.
