Improvements to LSU’s Alex Box Stadium expected to be completed by this fall

LSU is adding more premium seating to Alex Box Stadium ahead of the 2025 season.

LSU baseball is in the process of improving the fan experience at Alex Box Stadium. Construction is already underway, and the changes are expected to be complete by the fall.

As part of the renovation, the Tigers are adding field-level loges to the left and right field foul lines. The premium seating will add 158 total seats, separated into 36 four-person loges and 14 individual seats.

The premium boxes feature luxurious swivel chairs, food and drink services as well as iceboxes.

The project will also necessitate the construction of a new bullpen for LSU, which will be moved from foul territory in right field to a spot underneath the right field bleachers. The visiting bullpen will stay where it is but will be reconfigured and fitted with new protective netting, according to a release.

Fans are able to request the loges now for the 2025 season, and they will be distributed based on Tiger Athletic Foundation Philanthropic Priority Point rankings as of Oct. 31.

Jay Johnson implements a no-cell phone policy for LSU baseball

Jay Johnson has implemented a policy that might be able to keep distractions at bay.

[autotag]LSU baseball[/autotag] is in rough shape at the moment. The Tigers have lost six of their last seven games as they lost two of three to Florida, got swept by Arkansas, and lost to Southern at home Monday night.

Coach [autotag]Jay Johnson[/autotag] knows that something has to give. Something has to change to get this team to play at the level he wants them to play at. So, he has come up with a new policy for the players moving forward. A policy that might be able to keep distractions at bay: No more phones in the locker room.

When the players are at [autotag]Alex Box Stadium[/autotag], Johnson wants them to focus fully on baseball. The Tigers will host Vanderbilt starting on Thursday and the Commodores will enter the series as the No. 6 team in college baseball. If there was ever a time to turn the season around, this would be it.

Possible upgrades to Alex Box Stadium to be voted on Friday

The defending national champions of college baseball could have some upgrades coming to the best stadium in the country.

The defending national champions of college baseball could have some upgrades coming to the best baseball stadium in the country soon.

On Friday, the LSU Board of Supervisors will meet to discuss adding 160 more seats in the stadium and moving the home and visiting bullpens. A lot of teams have already moved their bullpens to a safer location.

Sure, having each bullpen on the field outside of the foul line is practical, but it also creates a very real safety hazard. If a pitcher is warming up during a game and a line drive is hit in that direction, the pitcher or the catcher could get hit. Here is what is on the docket for the meeting, per Nola.com’s Koki Riley.

The measure would also add 160 seats for fans by the left and right field foul lines with the majority of the new seating coming to the right field side.

The right field bullpen for the home team will be moved from the right field foul line to a “newly constructed area under the right-field bleachers.” The visitors bullpen by the left field foul line will be moved behind a newly built wall down but will remain down the left field line.

LSU will take on Stony Brook on Friday afternoon with the first pitch at 2 p.m. CT.

Viral Savannah Bananas baseball team to play at LSU’s Alex Box Stadium in March

The wackiest team in baseball is coming to Baton Rouge.

The Savannah Bananas are coming to Baton Rouge.

The independent exhibition team will be playing a three-night showcase at LSU’s Alex Box Stadium from March 14-16, 2024, as part of an agreement between the team and Visit Baton Rouge.

The Bananas got their start as a summer collegiate league ballclub, but they have since taken over the internet thanks to their unique take on the game, which features a penchant for showmanship and a wacky set of rules including no bunting, a two-hour time limit, stealing first base and counting foul balls caught by fans as an out.

Savannah sold out parks in 33 cities as part of its 2023 Banana Ball World Tour. The team has played in Triple-A, Double-A, Single-A and Major League spring training ballparks, but this will be its first in a college stadium.

According to an LSU release, team rosters will include former MLB stars and celebrities.

LSU baseball leads nation in attendance in 2023

LSU fans showed up to Alex Box in bunches this past season.

LSU’s baseball program is given some of the best support in the country, from fans and administration.

In 2023, LSU led the nation in attendance for the 25th time since 1996.

A total of 447,527 tickets were bought. The next best was Arkansas, which was a good bit behind at 370,940.

LSU led in average per game, too, with 11,188 tickets per game.

This is what people have come to expect from LSU. When this program is up, and even sometimes when it’s not, fans are going to show up in bunches.

There are few programs in the country that can match LSU’s passion when it comes to baseball. It’s something [autotag]Jay Johnson[/autotag] often highlights in interviews and recruiting pitches.

Other SEC schools in the top 10 along with LSU and Arkansas include Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Florida, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and Tennessee. That gave the SEC eight of the top 10 best attendance marks.
