WATCH: Brian Robinson Jr. plows through the Tennessee defenders for a TD

After Alabama quarterback, Bryce Young dropped an absolute dime to Jameson Williams on 3rd down and fifteen, Brian Robinson Jr. finished the drive with a fifteen-yard touchdown run.

Robinson shed several tackles from the Volunteer defenders on his way to pay dirt.

The fifteen-yard touchdown run makes the second rushing touchdown of the contest for Robinson. Robinson now has 92 yards rushing on 20 carries.

WATCH: Bryce Young eludes Tennessee defenders for a TD

No. 4 Alabama extends its lead on the Volunteers to 31-17 after quarterback Bryce Young eluded the Tennesse defense for a touchdown run.

Young has used his feet more tonight than any other game this season rushing for 42 yards with two touchdowns on the ground as well.

Bryce has been the only steady part of the offense tonight that seems out of sync and undisciplined.

Let’s see if Bryce and the offense can develop some chemistry here in the fourth quarter.

LOOK: What fans are saying ahead of No. 4 Alabama vs Tennessee

Check out the best Alabama-Tennessee pregame tweets here!

Wake up, it’s game day!

It’s not just any other game day, but it’s a rivalry Saturday in Tuscaloosa as Tennessee comes to town for another edition of The Third Saturday in October.

Since Nick Saban took over in 2007, Alabama has never lost to Tennessee. Currently sitting at 14 in a row, there has not been a longer win streak in the all-time series. The Vols have capped out at seven, stretching from 1995-2001.

On the field today, quarterback Hendon Hooker is expected to go. He suffered a late ankle injury against Ole Miss and was in doubt throughout the entire week. If they have any chance of winning today, Hooker will have to play at an elite level.

As usual, Alabama Twitter was on fire, preparing for the game. Don’t tell anybody the rivalry with Tennessee is dead because the gumps will have something to say about it.

Behind enemy lines: Vols Wire previews Tennessee football

Behind enemy lines with Dan Harralson of Vols Wire

Saturday night in Tuscaloosa the Alabama Crimson Tide will host the Tennessee Volunteers in a clash of SEC foes.

Tennessee comes in with a 4-3 record on the season and 2-2 SEC play. Alabama is 6-1 overall with a 3-1 record in the SEC.

I had a chance to catch up with Dan Harralson of Vols Wire to get a closer look at the Tennessee football program.

1. Considering the number of snaps the defense had to take last week against Ole Miss, do you see that being a factor this weekend?

I do, on top of this being the eighth straight game for Tennessee. Next week’s open date cannot get here soon enough for the Vols to rest players before a November stretch that begins at Kentucky.

2. Who is a player Alabama fans need to watch out for on each side of the ball for the Volunteers?

As the season continues, wide receiver and returner Velus Jones Jr. has been used more in Tennessee’s offense. Over the last few games, Jones Jr. has been used more in the slot and is able to catch passes around the line of scrimmage and then use his return-type skills and react to move the ball upfield. On defense, there have been a few that are playing well. Linebacker Jeremy Banks has been one that has stood out. He leads Tennessee in tackles and sacks.

3. Overall, how does Vol Nation feel about first-year head coach Josh Heupel?

Tennessee is pleased with Heupel. Heupel’s offensive-minded approach has been well-received and Vol Nation understands he is recruiting towards his scheme.

Roll Tide Wire staff predictions for Alabama vs Tennessee

Check out the Roll Tide Wire’s staff predictions for Tennessee!

For a rivalry with the name ‘The Third Saturday in October’, it sure does feel good to be playing this one on the fourth weekend of the month. Alabama will once again face off against Tennessee in Tuscaloosa, looking to make it 15 wins in a row.

First-year head coach Josh Heupel will be the sixth different coach in Knoxville since Nick Saban took over the program in 2007. Ignoring the end-of-game theatrics that took place, you can tell positive energy is finally back for Tennessee. Last week’s near upset of Ole Miss, alongside the return of Lane Kiffin, had Neyland Stadium rocking.

Luckily, Bryant Denny Stadium will be the venue on Saturday. Alabama has won by an average margin of 22.4 at home since 2007. Beating Tennessee has become one of everybody’s favorite yearly traditions, smoking cigars in the stadium, and dishing out one-liners from the famous “I Hate Tennessee” video.

Back to the football field, where Alabama fans will be ready to go with a rare night game at home. An electric crowd is expected to stay through all four quarters.

Check out the Roll Tide Wire’s staff predictions!

AJ Spurr

Tennessee has seemingly found a solid coach in Josh Heupel, and with the offense on a roll, this was supposed to be a somewhat interesting game compared to recent games in this rivalry. However, we must take into account a few injuries and the fact that this game is in Tuscaloosa. Since the loss to Texas A&M, Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide team needs to win every game left on their schedule and do so in epic fashion. Don’t expect Saban or Bill O’Brien to slow down Bryce Young and the offense to slow down once they get going.

Alabama 52, Tennessee 24

Griffin McVeigh

Bryce Young’s bounce-back game against Mississippi State was incredible and restored confidence in the Alabama offense. I expect more of the same this week. Something I will be looking for is who the third wide receiver is going to be. Slade Bolden has been ineffective thus far and seeing one of JoJoe Earle or Traeshon Holden involved would be nice to see.

Defensively, continue to rely on Will Anderosn Jr. He’s going to get his pressure against Tennessee’s offensive line all day. Stop the run game and this one will not be close. The status of Hendon Hooker could really determine how many points Vols score as well.

Hope y’all bought cigars.

Alabama 52, Tennessee 28

Stacey Blackwood

Alabama is coming off its best performance of the season against Mississippi State. I believe Alabama will follow up that performance with another dominating one. Hendon Hooker is a solid QB for the Volunteers and may cause some issues for the Tide defense, but I believe they will up to the challenge. I am not sure Tennessee has anyone who can even get in the way of Will Anderson Jr.! On the offensive side, Alabama should have plenty of success. The Tennessee defense played over 100 plays last week against Ole Miss, so they will show some fatigue in this game. Overall, Alabama is just too strong for the Volunteers. Make it 15 in a row!

Alabama 48, Tennessee 13

Layne Gerbig

Tennessee’s quarterback Hendon Hooker is still questionable, leaving in doubt how well Tennessee’s offense could produce against Alabama.

With that said, I don’t think he’d make a difference. Alabama’s defense is clicking and there hasn’t been a defense to stop Bryce Young and Co.

Alabama 42, Tennessee 14

Predicting the outcome of each SEC football game in Week 8

It’s going to be a relatively quiet week in the conference.

Coming off a week with the virtual SEC East championship game with Georgia and Kentucky, it’s going to be a relatively quiet week in the conference. Only nine teams are going to be in action (Arkansas has a nonconference game) and the other five will take their bye week.

LSU’s trip to Oxford to face No. 12 Ole Miss will be the highlight matchup as CBS is in town. Former quarterback Eli Manning will have his jersey number retired as well.

A cross-division “rivalry” between Texas A&M and South Carolina takes place, while an actual rivalry in Alabama-Tennessee is also on the schedule. Both will be a part of the night slate.

Here is the full SEC schedule for Week 8. All times are central.

  • Arkansas PB at Arkansas at 11 a.m.
  • LSU at No. 12 Ole Miss at 2:30 a.m.
  • Mississippi State at Vanderbilt at 3:00 a.m.
  • Tennessee at No. 4 Alabama at 6:00 p.m.
  • South Carolina at No. 17 Texas A&M at 6:30 p.m.

An exciting slate is ahead of us! Here are my predictions for every single SEC game on the schedule Saturday:

What Nick Saban had to say leading up to Alabama vs. Tennessee

Notes from Nick Saban’s weekly press conference!

No. 4 Alabama is set to host the Tennessee Volunteers this Saturday inside of Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Alabama vs. Tennessee matchup is one that fans across the country always look forward to. The history between the two programs has created one of the most heated rivalries in college football.

On Wednesday afternoon head football coach Nick Saban spoke to the media leading up to Alabama’s contest against the Volunteers.

Here are a few of the head coach’s comments.

  • On injured players, coach Saban mentioned that they were hopeful that Byron Young would be able to contribute this week. Drew Sanders remains doubtful for the third straight contest. He also mentioned that DeMarcco Hellems is dealing with a lingering ankle injury that he suffered in fall camp so his reps have been limited.
  • Coach Saban mentioned that Tennessee’s run game is tough to defend because they go fast and they have great runners, including their quarterback.
  • On Henry To’oTo’o, Saban spoke of his ability to communicate and help everyone around him have a better understanding of the defense.

All of the CFN Fearless Predictions

Alabama vs Tennessee Game Preview

Why Tennessee Will Win

The offense keeps on rolling.

It took a while to get going, and then … kaboom.

The Vols ran for close to 460 yards against Missouri, it was well balanced in the win over South Carolina, and the 467 yards in the wild, crazy, and problematic in the close loss to Ole Miss.

They’ve hit 200 yards rushing and passing in four of the last five games, and they’re going to need to be as versatile – and as fearless – as possible against a Tide defense that figured out the running game after getting cranked by Florida a month ago.

Combine the offensive speed and quickness with a devastating pass rush that should hurry Bryce Young, and the Vols might just have the formula to make this interesting.

Alabama allowed over 300 yards twice this year. Once was in the close call against Florida, and second was in the loss to Texas A&M. Tennessee has yet to come up with fewer than 374.

Week 8 CFN College Football Expert Picks

Why Alabama Will Win

Who’s the Tennessee quarterback?

Hendon Hooker makes this offense fly, but he’s hurt and iffy at best. Joe Milton has all the tools and upside, but he’s not all that accurate and he’s way too inconsistent.

Either way, Tennessee – despite the hurry-up style that tries to gas opposing defenses – is awful at keeping the quarterback from getting popped. Part of that is because Hooker and Milton move, but it’s also because the O line – while fantastic for the running game – simply allows a whole lot of sacks.

Alabama will have no problems getting into a shootout.

Texas A&M posed a strange problem for the Tide with it’s somewhat controlled style – which wasn’t totally on display in the win, but it was able to grind the game out a bit. That’s really, really not Tennessee.

Alabama is perfectly equipped to get into a back-and-forth fight, with Bryce Young playing at a Heisman level, Brian Robinson rising up as one of the better backs in college football, and the offense averaging close to 550 yards over the last four games.

Week 8 College Football Schedule, Predictions, Game Previews

What’s Going To Happen

Bama has won 14 straight going back to 2006, and the 12-10 victory in 2009 was the only close battle. At least this year’s Tennessee team seems like it has  more ammunition to bring.

Just how sharply focused is Alabama? It got everything back to normal against Mississippi State, and it was almost flawless early on against Ole Miss to put the game away with a 35-0 start.

Can Tennessee withstand the early punch? No, and it’ll cause a whole slew of problems.

The Vols will score enough to at least make the Tide keep pushing, but the interceptions and turnovers will come – Bama leads the SEC in turnover margin – just as the running game takes over full-time.

Alabama opens as massive 24.5 point favorites over Tennessee

Alabama opens as a big favorite for Saturday’s game against Tennessee.

Welcome to the “Third” Saturday in October. One of college football’s greatest rivalries is set to kick off again on Saturday, as Tennessee travels to Tuscaloosa to face No. 4 Alabama.

The past week could not have been more different for each program.

Alabama has spent the past few days getting back on track after losing to Texas A&M. Both sides of the ball performed exceptionally better, led by quarterback Bryce Young and defensive end Will Anderson. Business is back to usual.

Tennessee, on the other hand, had a nightmare to deal with Saturday. During a close loss to Ole Miss at Neyland Stadium, golf balls, beer cans, and even a full bottle of mustard were thrown onto the field. The SEC fined the Vols $250K for their actions.

How separate the two programs are have shown on the field as well. This is not your type of rivalry where every game is close. Alabama has dominated since Nick Saban took over. The closest margin of victory in the past five years has been 22.

Tipico Sportsbook expects the same on Saturday. The Crimson Tide has opened as massive 24.5 point favorites. For those of you in the know about the first half spread, it’s only 14.5 points.
