What Nick Saban said following Alabama’s second scrimmage of the spring

What Nick Saban said following Alabama’s second scrimmage of the spring.

On a sunny but slightly cool Saturday in Tuscaloosa, Nick Saban and the Alabama football team participated in its second scrimmage of the 2022 spring. Once the scrimmage was wrapped up, the head coach took to the podium to speak with members of the media on the current state of the team as we are now just one week away from A-Day.

Here is what the head coach had to say.

First…opening statement…

On Saturday afternoon inside Bryant-Denny Stadium, the Alabama football team completed its first of three scrimmages of the 2022 spring festivities. After the scrimmage was wrapped up, head coach Nick Saban took to the podium to answer some questions from members of the media.

Here are a few of the thoughts from the seven-time national championship head coach.

First…thoughts on the wideouts…

Early enrollee DL Jaheim Oatis claims to have lost some major weight

If the talented early enrollee continues to lose weight, he could become a major factor along the defensive line.

One of the biggest signees, both potentially and physically, for the Tide in the class of 2022 was Mississippi native Jaheim Oatis. The four-star defensive lineman joined the Tide as an early enrollee in January and Nick Saban and the coaching staff immediately got the mammoth freshman on a strict diet.

According to Oatis, the diet is working extremely well. Oatis took to Twitter late Friday night to send a special thank you to the nutritionist, Amy Ellis, for helping him lose a total of 46-pounds over the past three months.

When Oatis arrived at Alabama he was most likely pushing the 400-pound mark. On Alabama’s official roster, Oatis is currently listed at 370-pounds.

If Oatis could get under 350, he would become a major problem for opposing offensive lineman.

Slade Bolden competes in 2022 NFL combine

Former Alabama wide receiver Slade Bolden worked out for NFL teams at the 2022 NFL combine on Thursday afternoon. The Louisiana native posted an official 40-time of 4.66 with a 32″ vertical jump and 116″ broad jump.

The most logical landing spot for Bolden would be a reunion with Mac Jones in New England as a late-round selection.

Jameson Williams and John Metchie participated in the weigh-ins but were not healthy enough to compete in the on-the-field activities.
