Report Card: Grading Alabama’s 24-21 win over Arkansas

Grading Alabama’s 24-21 win over Arkansas

With Saturday’s narrow 24-21 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks, Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide move to 6-1 on the season and 4-0 in SEC play.

Despite getting the win, it’s hard to come away from that performance impressed with the Tide. Alabama had every opportunity in the world to balloon their lead, and they just didn’t get it done.

Nevertheless, a win is a win, and Alabama still has all their goals in front of them as they race towards the end of the 2023 regular season.

As the Bama faithful breathe a sigh of relief, let’s look at this week’s report card for the Crimson Tide.

Grading Alabama’s 26-20 win over Texas A&M

The Alabama Crimson Tide improved to 5-1 (3-0 SEC) with a hard-fought 26-20 win over the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday afternoon in College Station.

It wasn’t always pretty for [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Crimson Tide as the team couldn’t get out of his own way with 14 penalties including one senseless penalty that brought back a touchdown after a blocked field goal.

There are obviously some lessons to be learned for Alabama, but anytime you can get a road win in the SEC, especially at a place like Kyle Field, you will take it.

As the Tide makes the trip back to Tuscaloosa, let’s take a look at this week’s report card!

Report Card: Grading Alabama’s 40-17 win over Mississippi State

The Alabama Crimson Tide put together one of its best performances in a road environment in quite some time on Saturday night with a 40-17 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville.

With the win, Alabama moves to 4-1 on the season and a perfect 2-0 in SEC play. The Bulldogs drop to 2-3 on the season and an abysmal 0-3 in conference competition.

It was a balanced attack on Saturday night for the Crimson Tide will all three phases of the game playing well for a large portion of the competition.

Now it is time to break out this week’s Alabama football report card!

It wasn’t perfect, but [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide put together some of its best football of the 2023 season in a 24-10 win over Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday from Tuscaloosa.

The first half was a little sluggish for the Tide with some of the same old miscues haunting the Alabama offense. Whether it was negative plays, penalties, poor playing calling, or execution, the Alabama offense couldn’t get out of its own way.

Fortunately for the Crimson Tide, the defense came ready to play and kept Alabama in it until the offense was able to find its rhythm in the second half where they outscored the Rebels 18-3.

Now it is time to break out this week’s Alabama football report card!

Report Card: Grading Alabama’s 17-3 win over South Florida

Grading Alabama football’s 17-3 win over South Florida

Saturday’s performance for the Alabama football team was not what fans were hoping to see following the Week 2 loss to Texas. To put it kindly, the 17-3 win over the South Florida Bulls was about as ugly as a win can get.

The performance wasn’t completely bad though. The Alabama defense more than held its own against the Bulls keeping the Crimson Tide in the game for much of the contest.

Unfortunately, Alabama seemingly leaves Tampa with more questions than answers heading into SEC play.

As we process the ugly win, it’s time to break out this week’s Alabama football report card.

Report Card: Grading Alabama’s disappointing 34-24 loss to Texas

Grading Alabama’s 34-24 loss to Texas

For the first time since 2007, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team have suffered a non-conference home loss as the Texas Longhorns handed the Crimson Tide a 34-24 defeat on Saturday night.

The Longhorns deserve a tremendous amount of respect for the effort they put forth inside Byrant-Denny Stadium, but it’s also fair to say that Alabama did not do itself any favors with the number of turnovers and penalties that were committed.

There is a lot for this team to clean up on both sides of the ball moving forward and will need to do so if they have hopes of winning the West.

Now it’s time to break out the grade book and deliver our report card on the Crimson Tide’s performance.

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team got off to a good start in 2023 with a dominating 56-7 win over Middle Tennessee State on Saturday night from Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

After missing out on the playoffs in 2022, the offseason was filled with question marks and uncertainty at some position groups, most notably quarterback.

Redshirt sophomore [autotag]Jalen Milroe[/autotag] did his best to silence those critics with an impressive performance on Saturday night. Making his second career start for the Tide, Milroe made history by becoming the first Alabama quarterback to throw for three touchdowns and run for two in one game.

Now that the dust has settled, it is time to bring back our Alabama Report Card and give our grades for the Crimson Tide’s performance in all three phases of the game.

Let’s roll!

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide ended the 2022 football season in decisive fashion: a 45-20 drumming of the Kansas State Wildcats in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

[autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] delivered one of his best performances for Alabama in what was most likely his final game for the Crimson Tide.

Although the season did not conclude in a national championship, the Alabama football team delivered the season’s best performance, showing just how elite a team it could have been.

For the final time this season, here is our report card for each phase of the game in the Crimson Tide’s 45-20 stomping of Kansas State.

Grading Alabama’s 49-27 win over Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

The Alabama Crimson Tide coasted past the Auburn Tigers on Saturday in the 87th edition of the rivalry matchup known as the Iron Bowl.

Even Crimson Tide head coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] suffered a battle wound during the contest which he cleverly remarked in the postgame “you should see the other guy”.

[autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] played fantastic in what was most likely his final performance inside Bryant-Denny Stadium, throwing for nearly 350 yards and three touchdowns. Young would also add another 48 yards rushing and an additional touchdown on the ground.

Defensively Alabama had a tough time stopping the run throughout the contest, especially from Tiger quarterback Robby Ashford who rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns.

Let’s look at how the Crimson Tide graded out in its final regular season performance of the 2022 season.

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team didn’t strictly come out and exert joyless murder ball on the Austin Peay Governors on Saturday. Still, they did enough to earn a 34-0 victory to wrap up the non-conference slate.

In fact, Saturday’s performance was sort of an example of how the entire 2022 season has gone for the Crimson Tide. Alabama looked good in some spots, but also a bit out of sorts at other times.

[autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] and the Tide offense put up over 500 yards of offense while the defense pitched a shutout and allowed just over 200 yards to the Governors. Still, there was a lot that Alabama could have done better in the matchup.

Let’s take a look at how the Crimson Tide graded out.
