It has been quite some time since former Alabama offensive tackle DJ Fluker was in the NFL. However, on Friday morning, Fluker worked out for the Las Vegas Raiders. Could there be an opportunity for Fluker to join an NFL team for the first time since 2021?

Fluker has been working out for a while since departing the league. He participated in Alabama’s 2023 Pro Day in March. Since then, he has worked out for several NFL teams. Needless to say, he did not earn a practice squad opportunity or earn an active roster spot.

Fluker has spent time with seven different organizations in nine seasons. He was a member of the Raiders practice squad in 2021. If he earns a contract, it will be his second stint with the Raiders.

Former Alabama RB Kenyan Drake signs with Packers practice squad

Former Alabama running back Kenyan Drake will join the Green Bay Packers practice squad.

On Tuesday, the Green Bay Packers signed former Alabama running back Kenyan Drake to their practice squad. In correspondence with the move, the Packers released running back James Robinson from the practice squad.

Drake joined the league in 2016 when he was drafted in the third round by the Miami Dolphins. The Georgia native spent four seasons with the Dolphins before being traded to the Arizona Cardinals.

He would go on to spend two seasons with the Cardinals organization. Since then, Drake has been a member of five different organizations. He has spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, and now the Green Bay Packers.

Drake has had to overcome a lot in his college and professional career. It will be intriguing to see if he can earn a spot on the Packers’ active roster in due time.

One former Alabama linebacker received some good news on Monday. Reuben Foster is scheduled to work out for the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday.

Foster, the former first-round pick, has not played in the NFL since 2020. He last played for the Washington Commanders.

Foster was known as one of the most hard-hitting linebackers in college football when he was at Alabama. The Alabama native earned playing time by performing at an extremely high level on special teams.

In four seasons at Alabama, Foster recorded 223 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, and seven sacks. During his senior season, Foster was recognized as a unanimous All-American and was the winning recipient of the Butkus Award.

Foster has not been the same since his college days. He spent time with the San Francisco 49ers and Commanders. However, he was not able to establish his footing in the league due to injuries and off-the-field issues.

Now, he will have the opportunity to make the Dolphins roster or earn a practice squad opportunity. If not, he will likely continue his USFL career playing for the Pittsburgh Maulers.

Philadelphia Eagles sign former Alabama WR Cam Sims

Former Alabama wide receiver Cam Sims signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday morning. Sims joins several other Alabama alumni.

The Philadelphia Eagles have been known to draft and sign former Alabama players over the years. On Thursday morning, the Eagles agreed to terms with former Crimson Tide wide receiver Cam Sims.

Sims spent four seasons at Alabama. He reeled in 41 receptions for 467 yards and two touchdowns.

The Louisiana native went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Washington Commanders. In five seasons with the organization, Sims hauled in 57 receptions for 804 yards and three touchdowns.

Following the 2022 season, Sims became a free agent. He would sign a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. Several months after signing the deal, Sims was released. Less than a week later, he signed with the New York Giants practice squad. He spent a little over a month with the organization before being released.

Now, he has the opportunity to prove himself for one of the league’s top teams. He will join former fellow Alabama wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Julio Jones. Sims will also catch passes from former Alabama teammate Jalen Hurts. It is an interesting move at an interest point in Sims’ professional career.

Former Alabama WR Julio Jones signed to Philadelphia Eagles active roster

The Philadelphia Eagles signed former Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones to their active roster on Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday morning, the Philadelphia Eagles signed former Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones to their active roster. Jones was signed to the Eagles practice squad over two weeks ago, he was elevated for Philadelphia’s two most recent games.

In 2022, he spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jones hauled in 24 receptions for 299 yards and two touchdowns for the Buccaneers. Soon after, Jones became a free agent. He recently joined the Eagles, but now will be a full participant on the active roster. In two games this season, he’s reeled in two catches on three targets for 11 yards and a touchdown.
