Alabama will take on Ole Miss for week 3 of SEC action, and the time of kickoff has been moved due to a potential hurricane.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are set to take on Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi this Saturday, Oct. 10. While the original time was set for 5:00 pm CT, it will now begin at 6:30 pm CT.
The change in time is due to Hurricane Delta, which is set to hit the gulf coast as a category 2 storm. The path is redicted to enter Mississippi and was cause for concern between the two programs.
There was speculation of the date of the contest being moved to either Friday, or even Sunday.
Alabama Football released a new time for the Week 3 matchup via their social media.
Lane Kiffin looks to help Ole Miss improve to 2-1 in his first season as the head coach of the SEC West program and be the first former Nick Saban assistant to defeat the coach – Saban is 20-0 against former assistants.
former Alabama TE oj howard suffered a ruptured achilles against the loas angeles chargers and will likely miss the remainder of the season.
Former Alabama tight end O.J. Howard has had an interesting time in his first few years in the NFL. Now, in season No. 4, he might be out for the rest of the season after suffering an Achilles injury during Tampa Bay’s Week 4 contest against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Howard, who was drafted with the No. 19 overall selection in the 2017 NFL draft by Tampa Bay, has found success with his new quarterback, Tom Brady.
So far in 2020, Howard has 11 receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Today, the Buccaneer’s Week 4 game vs. the Chargers, the Alabama product reeled in three receptions for 50 yards and a 28-yard touchdown.
NFL insider for ESPN, Field Yates, reported on Buccaneers head coach, Bruce Arians, claiming Howard suffered a ruptured Achilles and is likely out for the season.
Roll Tide Wire will keep you updated on Howard’s health and his chances of returning in the 2020 season.
Former Alabama WR Henry Ruggs III has come to terms with Las Vegas on a contract that will keep him with the team for at least four years.
Former Alabama star wide receiver Henry Ruggs III and his new team, the Las Vegas Raiders, have come to terms on a rookie contract that will keep the Crimson Tide product with the team for for seasons with a fifth-year option.
According to NFL Network’s insider Ian Rapoport, Ruggs’ contract will consist of a guaranteed $16.67 million through four years with the teams option to add a fifth season.
While these contract details appear to be finalized, Rapoport reports that it will not be signed for a few days.
Ruggs was the first wide receiver to be selected in the 2020 NFL draft with the No. 12 overall pick by Las Vegas. His fellow college teammate and wide receiver, Jerry Jeudy was selected three picks later at No. 15 by the Denver Broncos.

247Sports’ latest 2021 NFL mock draft projects five members of the 2020 Alabama crimson tide team will be drafted in the first round.
The 2020 Alabama Crimson Tide football team lost a lot of talent to the 2020 NFL draft. Without Tua Tagovailoa, Jerry Jeudy Henry Ruggs III and more, which members of this upcoming season’s crew will reach national headlines as potential first round picks?
Joal Ryan of 247Sports recently released a mock draft for the 2021 draft that included five members of the 2020 Alabama team.
Here’s where Ryan projects them to land:
22. Buffalo Bills – DeVonta Smith, WR
Ryan believes that Smith and his teammate, Jaylen Waddle are interchangeable in the first round, they are that good. This would make back-to-back drafts where Alabama has two receivers selected in the first round. Ryan also states that Bills quarterback Josh Allen would be lucky to have Smith.
Alabama Football HC Nick Saban offers a public statement in response to the tragic incidents that have recently occurred throughout the U.S.
Alabama football head coach Nick Saban is usually not one to publicly take a stance on political topics, he normally sticks to talking about football.
However, in the wake of the tragic death of George Floyd, who died in Minneapolis after a cop knelt on his neck for almost ten minutes, along with the protests, some of which have gone from peaceful to violent, Saban has released a statement.
Saban opens up his statement by acknowledging the tragedy of recent incidents, specifically naming George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery.
He continues to state that now is the time for people to choose “kindness, tolerance, understanding, empathy, and most importantly … it’s time to love each other.”
Coach Saban then goes on to name leaders of civil rights movements who have inspired him such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks.
In the words of Nick Saban, “We must come together as a society and treat one another with respect and dignity.”
Alabama freshman quarterback Bryce Young isn’t the favorite to earn the starting job week 1, but QBs of recent years could offer insight …
Since 2010, there have been six freshman quarterbacks to receive high praise and recognition nation-wide. Nick Saban and Alabama may have the seventh on their roster for the 2020 season.
Bryce Young is about to begin his first season with the Crimson Tide. The five-star, No. 1 ranked dual-threat quarterback is native to California and flipped to Alabama after having initially committed to USC.
With Tua Tagovailoa forgoing his senior season to declare for the NFL draft, Coach Saban is tasked with finding Tua’s successor.
The expected starter for the 2020 season is redshirt-junior Mac Jones. A former three-star from Florida, Jones played under Jalen Hurts and Tua which has allowed him to slowly climb the depth chart.
Young, however, has stirred up discussions over a quarterback competition ever since he announced his commitment to Alabama.
He has made quite a name for himself in high school at Mater Dei in Pasadena. In four years he tallied 13,250 passing yards and 152 passing touchdowns. He also earned the title of top-ranked dual-threat quarterback. He ran for 1,084 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns.
There’s a common argument that’s made which claims Young is a true freshman. This insists he lacks experience and skills of an older quarterback.
Being young may mean the coach has to spend a little bit more time molding, but it certainly hasn’t stopped others from climbing the ladder to national stardom as a freshman.
Johnny Manziel and Jameis Winston were both redshirt freshman when the spotlight landed on them in their respective years. Manziel won the Heisman at Texas A&M in 2012, and Winston won the award in 2013 at FSU to become the youngest to ever hoist the Heisman trophy.
There wasn’t another freshman quarterback star until 2016, where there would be four true freshmen in the National Championship in three consecutive years.
The idea isn’t new to the Crimson Tide fanbase. Jalen Hurts, a true freshman, helped guide Alabama to a Peach Bowl win and a National Championship appearance in 2016.
Young would not be the first true freshman dual-threat quarterback to start at Alabama. Hurts, a former four-star dual threat quarterback made it easy for fans to marvel over how different of a quarterback he was. He threw for 2,780 yards and 23 touchdowns to go along with nine interceptions. He also ran for 954 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Two new stars emerged from the 2017 National Championship.
Georgia’s starting quarterback was Jake Fromm, the former four-star who decided to stay in-state to play. Georgia had a healthy 13-0 lead and looked like they were on pace to have a national title.
The Bulldogs ended up leaving the game empty handed after then-sophomore Hurts had been pulled from the game and replaced by true freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Both, Fromm and Tagovailoa had an impressive game that ultimately led to successful collegiate careers and spots on NFL rosters.
One season later, Alabama is back in the National Championship game. This time against a Clemson team led by true freshman Trevor Lawrence.
Lawrence got the win over Alabama in impressive fashion and helped the Tigers become first team to have an undefeated season paired with a College Football Playoff win.
Coach Saban and Alabama have faced three of the aforementioned quarterbacks in their freshman seasons, and lost to two of them. Bryce Young starting in 2020 is a legitimate possibility. If one coach knows something about how special true freshman can be, it’s Nick Saban.
Though Mac Jones will likely earn the starting job for the season-opening game in Dallas vs. USC, be on the lookout for Young’s opportunities early in the season to propel himself to the top of college football.
Roll Tide Wire will keep you updated on Bryce Young and his journey through his freshman year.

Bleacher Report’s lead NFL draft analyst Matt Miller released his most recent mock draft with just over two weeks until draft day, and he predicts five Alabama players to be selected in the first round.
One of Miller’s bolder predictions is that the Las Vegas Raiders go two-for-two on drafting Crimson Tide products in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Raiders hold two pick in the first round, picks No. 12 and No. 19.
They are no strangers to selecting Alabama alum in round No. 1, in the 2019 draft they selected former Alabama running back Josh Jacobs at No. 24 overall pick, making him the first running back taken off the board in the draft.
Miller predicts that the Raiders go all-in on creating a pipeline from Tuscaloosa to Las Vegas as they take former Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III at No. 12 overall and safety Xavier McKinney at No. 19 – both of these selections would make them the first player of the board for their respective positions.
The reasoning behind both of these selections is that the Raiders are in need of both a receiver and a safety, and through these picks they would be taking who they feel are the best at their given spots on the field.
The 2020 NFL Draft is quickly approaching and Roll Tide Wire will keep you updated on all things Alabama alum in the draft!

In every draft there seems to be one position that teams favor in the first round of the draft. For 2020, it’s the quarterbacks. However, there’s a ‘big three’ group of wide receivers that separate themselves from the rest.
That group consists of Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III, as well as Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb.
It is these three receivers whose names you will first here from the 2020 wide receiver class. The question remains, who will be the first one called?
Before the 2020 NFL Combine it had been universally accepted that Ruggs would be the final name to be called. However, his draft stock rose exponentially after his stellar performance at the combine.
While the original debate was between Jeudy and Lamb, Ruggs’ name has been thrown into the mix, and it’s about time we start recognizing him as a contender to be the first receiver selected.
Before comparing Ruggs to the other top prospects, lets examine what makes him so special as an individual.
Ruggs can run so fast that he would have broken an NFL record in Alabama’s regular season matchup against South Carolina where he was clocked at a whopper 24.3 MPH on an 81-yard touchdown catch-and-run.
This would have been the fastest time in the NFL since Brandin Cooks in 2016 where he ran at 23.5, almost one full MPH slower.
It was also what brought his name into headlines before the combine as analysts had predicted he had the potential to beat John Ross’ 40-yard dash record time of 4.22. Ruggs came up short with a best time of 4.28.
It’s basically impossible to mention his name without referencing his impressive speed.
Now, let’s see how he stacks up against Jeudy and Lamb, both of whom are known  for their route-running abilities.
All three of them are forgoing their senior seasons at their respective programs, so we will be looking mainly at their stats from their junior season.
In 2019, CeeDee Lamb had 1,327 yards on 62 catches for 14 touchdowns through 71 plays throughout the season.
Jeudy caught 77 passes for 1,163 yards and 10 touchdowns through 78 snaps throughout the season.
Ruggs’ numbers are lower with 746 yards on 40 receptions for seven touchdowns on 42 plays in 2019.
At first glance, Ruggs’ numbers look significantly lower, and that’s because they are. He played 64 fewer snaps than Jeudy and lamb combined.
It’s also worth noting that Alabama had one of the strongest receiving corps in the country with Jeudy not even being the leader in yards. DeVonta smith had almost 100 more yards than Jeudy. They also had five players have over 20 receptions, whereas Oklahoma only had two – and Lamb had almost double the amount of receptions as the next receiver.
Ruggs would have ranked No. 2 in Oklahoma’s system for total yardage in 2019.
As far as within the system, Ruggs averaged over three more yards per reception than Jeudy, while also having only three fewer touchdown receptions than Jeudy on 33 fewer receptions.
If given the same number of receptions and less competition within the program, Ruggs likely would have had stronger numbers than Lamb and Jeudy.
Not to mention Ruggs had two rushing attempts where he ran for 75 yards and a lone touchdown.
At the end of the day all three receivers will be an excellent choice for any team in need of a pass catcher. However, Ruggs was overlooked in 2019 as he was swamped in a program that consisted of what appears to be four first-round receivers.
Who knows what the rankings of this ‘big three’ could be if Ruggs was put on more people’s radars sooner. Even without all the hype Jeudy and Lamb received during the college football season Ruggs is still being thrown into the conversation for being the best wide receiver in this 2020 NFL Draft class.

The Nick Saban former coaching tree has expanded to the American Athletic Conference as Alabama’s former quarterbacks coach Dane Enos accepted a position as the running backs coach for Cincinnati, according to Matt Zenitz of AL.com.
Source: Dan Enos has been hired as the running backs coach at Cincinnati
Enos’ had an unusual departure from Saban’s coaching staff as it was reported  he did not leave on great terms with the six-time national champion head coach.
He left his position at Alabama to join first-year head coach Manny Diaz at the university of Miami as their offensive coordinator. His one year with the Hurricanes was not too successful as they finished the 2019 season with a final record of 6-7. Enos was terminated from his position shortly thereafter.
He will now be working with head coach Luke Fickell and the Cincinnati Bearcats, who capped off the 2019 season with a record of 11-3 and a loss to Memphis in the AAC Championship game.

Former Alabama running back Kenyan Drake had a hard time finding his groove in Miami as the lead back. That wasn’t the case after he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals mid-season in 2019.
While with the Cardinals, he posted 643 rushing yards off of 123 carries for eight touchdowns. He also received 28 passes for 171 yards.
Now that the 2019 season is coming to a close, Drake will not be under any contract and will be an unrestricted free agent.
The Cardinals’ front office has made it obvious they have no signs of looking elsewhere for a fix at running back, they want Drake.
Jess Root, of Cardinals Wire, wrote that Drake could most likely seek a two to four-year deal worth up to $7 million in free agency. That is a price Arizona would be willing to pay.
The only thing hindering them would be David Johnson, the five-year NFL veteran who had a breakout season in 2016, but has failed to repeat his success.
Arizona has Johnson under contract until 2021, but Root believes that the best way to go about the 2020 NFL offseason would be to trade Johnson and pay Drake what he wants in order to keep him with the franchise.
The Johnson trade may be a hard sell because of Johnson’s injury history, but they will likely eat some of his contract in order to ensure the re-signing of Drake.
Whether Drake signs with the Cardinals or not, he will certainly be a hot commodity on the market heading into the 2020 regular season.
