2024 five-star WR Ryan Williams re-commits to Alabama

Alabama lands a MASSIVE commitment from 2024 five-star WR Ryan Williams after he de-commited when Nick Saban retired.

Kalen DeBoer has his first huge headline-making news break as the Alabama football head coach. Five-star wide receiver of the 2024 class, Ryan Williams, has re-committed to the Crimson Tide.

The news was devastating for Crimson Tide fans when he announced he would be opening his recruitment back up. He took a visit to Texas A&M and was being heavily pursued by LSU, Texas and Auburn.

The in-state prospect, however, canceled his visit to Texas and re-committed to Alabama the very next day.

This is a massive win for the new Alabama head coach, as many had criticized his ability, or lack thereof, to retain the talent already on the roster and recruit at a high level.

With another National Signing Day soon approaching and the transfer portal re-opening in the Spring, there is a lot to be excited about with this new-look Alabama football program.

SEC Championship Predictions: Who are the experts picking?

Experts get their predictions in before the SEC Championship. See who they are picking: Alabama or Georgia?

Alabama and Georgia square off in the SEC championship, which has become rather common place. In the last five matchups between these two, which include conference title games, national championships and regular season contests, the Crimson Tide have won four, through the Dawgs hold the most recent win.

The 2023 SEC title game serves as an extension of the College Football Playoff, as top-ranked Georgia looks to cement their position atop the rankings and No. 8 Alabama looks to make a last-chance push to make it in.

Experts, analysts and media members from across the country have weighed in on this game and made their picks.

ESPN’s College GameDay crew picks between Alabama and LSU

ESPN’s College GameDay picks between Alabama and LSU live from Tuscaloosa!

Alabama is not only hosting LSU for the highly-anticipated Week 10 matchup in Tuscaloosa, ESPN’s College GameDay also made the trip.

As always, the crew wrapped up the show by making their picks in the biggest matchups of the day and capped it all off with Alabama vs. LSU.

The panel was unanimous in deleting the Crimson Tide. While the Tigers’ offense cannot be underestimated, it’s the defense that is the biggest cause for concern for the two-loss team. Guest picker, comedian Nate Bargatze, also went with Alabama.

Lee Corso talked about how he picked Texas over Alabama in Week 2 when College GameDay was in Tuscaloosa but decided to roll with the Tide and wear the Big Al headgear.

FINAL: Alabama shuts out Austin Peay at home 34-0

Alabama wins big over Austin Peay and now shifts focus to Iron Bowl.

Alabama now has only one game remaining on the regular season schedule after taking down Austin Peay at home in a 34-0 shutout win. The season’s penultimate game ended in a win for the Crimson Tide against the FCS Governors.

Pete Golding’s defense was inconsistent at times but was able to get the offense back on the field by coming up with multiple turnovers.

Bryce Young’s day was cut short, as Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson got to see some playing time in the fourth quarter.

Alabama now shifts its focus to the Iron Bowl, as the Tigers of Auburn will visit Tuscaloosa for the final regular season game of 2022.

WATCH: Nick Saban finally gives his official definition for ‘Rat Poison’

Nick Saban made it clear. His players MUST not buy into it.

Alabama football coach Nick Saban is known for being one of the greatest figures to impact the sport. He’s managed to become such an icon by winning games, producing NFL talent and finding consistent all-around success. There are many factors as to why he’s such a special coach, but there’s one that stands above the rest: he doesn’t let his team feed into ‘rat poison.’

No, not actual rat poison. He’s talking about the media, the fans and all the outside noise.

Saban believes that nothing other than the game itself should impact the players’ ability to perform their best.

Maybe they play an unranked FCS team one week, and an analyst starts talking about how the Crimson Tide should look ahead to their next primetime SEC matchup. That is an example of rat poison.

Alabama fans have known the phrase and how to use it, but there hasn’t been a true definition. That changed today was Paul Finebaum asked Saban about all the talk heading into the Crimson Tide’s matchup against Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss.

“Rat poison is anything that distracts you from doing the things that you need to do to do your job. … Whether it’s created by the media, the weather, it could be created by anything,” said Saban.

Former Alabama DT Daron Payne placed on NFL Reserve/COVID-19 list

Daron Payne has been placed on the NFL’s Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Former Alabama defensive tackle Daron Payne is set to enter his fourth season in the NFL with the Washington Football Team. The No. 13 overall pick from the 2018 draft has had quite a big impact on Washington’s defense, which is expected to perform as one of the league’s best in 2021.

While the team’s defense is highly praised, the vaccination rate among players has been the recent target go criticism.

Recent reports suggest Washington is far below the rest of the league in terms of percentage of team members vaccinated.

Ron Rivera, the team’s head coach, recently overcame a hard-fought battle against skin cancer, and has been outspoken regarding his frustration with the team’s hesitancy to be vaccinated.

It’s unclear whether Payne was one of those players, nor is it known if he has contracted the virus or simply been near someone who has tested positive. Regardless, Payne has been placed on the NFL’s Reserve/COVID-19 list, according to the team’s official Twitter.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to report on Payne and his likelihood to return to training camp.
