AFC West standings, playoff picture after Week 11

Heading into Week 12, a look at how the AFC West standings and the playoff picture currently shape up.

The Chargers improved to 6-4 after defeating the Steelers on Sunday night.

After the win, how does Los Angeles stack up with the other teams in the AFC West?

Here’s a look at the division standings entering Week 12:

1. Chiefs (7-4)

2. Chargers (6-4)

3. Raiders (5-5)

4. Broncos (5-5)

And, a look at the playoff picture:

1. Titans (8-3)

2. Ravens (7-3)

3. Patriots (7-4)

4. Chiefs (7-4)

5. Bengals (6-4)

6. Chargers (6-4)

7. Bills (6-4)

AFC playoff matchups if the season ended today:

  • No. 2 Ravens vs. No. 7 Bills
  • No. 3 Patriots vs. No. 6 Chargers
  • No. 4 Chiefs vs. No. 5 Bengals

AFC West standings: Broncos fell behind during bye week

The Broncos have five division games left to attempt to make the AFC West race interesting.

The Denver Broncos didn’t lose in Week 11!

That’s the good news.

After a bye last week, though, the Broncos have fallen farther behind the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers, who both won on Sunday.

Here’s a look at the current AFC West standings going into Week 12.

Team Record Div. Conf.
Kansas City Chiefs 7-4 1-1 2-4
Los Angeles Chargers 6-4 2-0 4-2
Las Vegas Raiders 5-5 1-2 4-3
Denver Broncos 5-5 0-1 2-4

Denver can begin climbing back up the standings in the division by upsetting Los Angeles at home in Week 12. After that, the Broncos will go on the road to face the Chiefs in Week 13. If the team goes 0-2 in those contests, their chances of competing for the division title will be essentially nil.

To wrap up the season, Denver will face the Raiders on the road (Week 16), travel to Los Angeles (Week 17) and then host Kansas City (Week 18). If the division hasn’t been decided by then, those games could have huge implications for the Broncos.

Things don’t look good for Denver, but the division race isn’t over yet.

AFC West standings, playoff picture after Week 10

Heading into Week 11, a look at how the AFC West standings and the playoff picture currently shape up.

The Chargers dropped to 5-4 after falling to the Vikings last Sunday, 27-20.

After the loss, how does Los Angeles stack up with the other teams in the AFC West?

Here’s a look at the division standings entering Week 11:

1. Chiefs (6-4)

2. Chargers (5-4)

3. Raiders (5-4)

4. Broncos (5-5)

And, a look at the playoff picture:

1. Titans (8-2)

2. Bills (6-3)

3. Ravens (6-3)

4. Chiefs (6-4)

5. Steelers (5-3-1)

6. Patriots (6-4)

7. Chargers (5-4)

AFC playoff matchups if the season ended today:

  • No. 2 Bills vs. No. 7 Chargers
  • No. 3 Ravens vs. No. 6 Patriots
  • No. 4 Chiefs vs. No. 5 Steelers

AFC West standings: Believe it or not, Broncos are still alive in division race

With five division games remaining, the Broncos still have a mathematical shot in the AFC West title race.

Following an ugly loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10, the Denver Broncos are now back in last place in the AFC West.

Nobody else in the division has taken a commanding lead in the division thus far, though. Here’s a look at the current AFC West standings going into Week 11.

Team W-L Div. Conf.
Kansas City Chiefs 6-4 1-1 2-4
Los Angeles Chargers 5-4 2-0 3-2
Las Vegas Raiders 5-4 1-2 4-2
Denver Broncos 5-5 0-1 2-4

If the Chargers lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3-1) and the Raiders lose to the Cincinnati Bengals (5-4) during the Broncos’ bye, all three teams would be 5-5 going into Week 12. In that scenario, if the Kansas City Chiefs then lost to the Dallas Cowboys (7-2), KC would have the same number of losses and just one more win than every other team in the division.

Granted, that’s a lot of ifs, but the point stands that the division remains congested going into Week 11. With five AFC West games remaining, the Broncos still have a shot — albeit a long shot — to contend for the division title this season.

The Chargers improved to 5-3 after defeating the Eagles last Sunday, 27-24.

As we are at the halfway point of the 2021 regular season, how does Los Angeles stack up with the other teams in the AFC West?

Here’s a look at the division standings entering Week 10:

1. Chargers (5-3)

2. Raiders (5-3)

3. Chiefs (5-4)

4. Broncos (5-4)

And, a look at the playoff picture:

1. Titans (7-2)

2. Ravens (6-2)

3. Chargers (5-3)

AFC playoff matchups if the season ended today:

  • No. 2 Ravens vs. No. 7 Patriots
  • No. 3 Chargers vs. No. 6 Steelers
  • No. 4 Bills vs. No. 5 Raiders

Los Angeles wins the tie break over Buffalo based on best win percentage in conference games.

AFC West standings: Broncos back in the race to win division

All four teams in the AFC West have five wins at the midway point of the 2021 NFL season.

Coming off a huge upset win over the Dallas Cowboys, the Denver Broncos are surprisingly right back in the race to win the AFC West.

Entering the midway point of the 2021 NFL season, all four teams in the division have five wins. The Broncos are currently in last place because of tiebreakers, but they could jump to first place as quickly as next week depending on the results of the other games in the AFC West.

Here’s a look at the current division standings entering Week 10:

Team Record Div. Conf.
Los Angeles Chargers 5-3 2-0 3-2
Las Vegas Raiders 5-3 1-1 4-1
Kansas City Chiefs 5-4 0-1 1-4
Denver Broncos 5-4 0-1 2-4

Denver has only played one division game so far, so there’s still plenty of time to climb up the standings in the AFC West.

The Broncos have upcoming games against the Chargers (Weeks 12, 17), Chiefs (Weeks 13, 18) and Raiders (Week 16). Those division games will likely have huge implications for the final standings in the AFC West.

Denver is still in the hunt!

Despite three straight losses, Broncos are still above Chiefs in AFC West standings

Look, it might not last long, but we’ll enjoy it while it lasts.

The Denver Broncos have lost three consecutive games and the team’s season appears to be spiraling out of control. Despite the team’s slump, the Broncos still aren’t the lowest-ranking team in the AFC West.

Going into a “Thursday Night Football” showdown with the Cleveland Browns in Week 7, Denver is currently ranked third place in the division, above the Kansas City Chiefs. Here’s a look at the current standings:

Team Record Div Conf
Los Angeles Chargers 4-2 2-0 3-1
Las Vegas Raiders 4-2 1-1 4-1
Denver Broncos 3-3 0-1 2-3
Kansas City Chiefs 3-3 0-1 1-3

These standings might not last long, but at least for two more days, the Broncos will remain ranked above the Chiefs, and that’s somewhat of a consolation, although not much.

KC will like get things figured out in the coming weeks, and Denver has by far looked like the worst team in the AFC West over their last three games. If they want to avoid finishing in last place in the division in back-to-back seasons, the Broncos will need to improve quickly.

AFC West standings: Raiders have tiebreaker edge over Broncos

The Broncos are Raiders are the last undefeated teams in the AFC West! Just as everyone predicted, right?

The Denver Broncos are 2-0 to begin the 2021 NFL season, but they aren’t the top-ranked team in the AFC West entering Week 3.

The Las Vegas Raiders are also undefeated, and they’re currently above the Broncos based on a tiebreaker. Here’s how the AFC West standings look after two weeks of play.

Team Record Div. Conf.
Las Vegas Raiders 2-0 0-0 2-0
Denver Broncos 2-0 0-0 1-0
Kansas City Chiefs 1-1 0-0 1-1
Los Angeles Chargers 1-1 0-0 0-0

The first three tiebreakers (head-to-head, division record and common games) do not apply for Denver and Las Vegas yet, so the fourth tiebreaker (conference record) gives the Raiders an edge. Las Vegas already has two wins in the AFC while the Broncos only have one.

Denver and the Raiders won’t face off until Oct. 17, with another showdown scheduled for Dec. 26. The Broncos will face the Chiefs on Dec. 5 and Jan. 9 and the Chargers on Nov. 28 and Jan. 2. Those division games will likely have big implications for the final AFC West standings.

It’s still very early, but Denver’s off to a good start in the division race.

AFC West standings: Every team in the division won in Week 1

The AFC West is 4-0 through the first week of the 2021 NFL season.

Following a 27-13 win over the New York Giants on Sunday, the Denver Broncos are currently ranked third in the AFC West entering the second week of the 2021 NFL season.

Here’s a look at the division standings after one week of play.

Team Record Div Pt Dif
Las Vegas Raiders 1-0 0-0 +6
Kansas City Chiefs 1-0 0-0 +4
Denver Broncos 1-0 0-0 +14
Los Angeles Chargers 1-0 0-0 +4

The Broncos have a better point differential (+14) than Kansas City (+4) and Las Vegas (+6), but the Chiefs and Raiders have the edge based on the fourth tiebreaker, in-conference games. KC and Las Vegas had victories over AFC teams, which ranks higher than Denver’s win over an NFC team.

The first tie-breaker is head-to-head, the second is division record and the third is win percentage in common games. Because there’s only been one week of games so far, none of those apply for the Broncos, Raiders and Chiefs yet.

The Broncos won’t face KC until Week 13. Five weeks after that, Denver will close out the regular season at home against the Chiefs in Week 18. Denver will host the Raiders in Week 6 and they will travel to Las Vegas in Week 16.

AFC West standings: Broncos in last place entering Week 3

The Broncos are the only team in the AFC West without a win through two weeks of play.

After being hit hard by injuries, the Denver Broncos have started the season 0-2 and they’re the only team in the AFC West without a win this season. Here’s a look at the current AFC West standings:

Team Record Net Points
Kansas City Chiefs 2-0 17
Las Vegas Raiders 2-0 14
Los Angeles Chargers 1-1 0
Denver Broncos 0-2 -7

After losing starting quarterback Drew Lock to a shoulder injury, the Broncos are falling in NFL power rankings, too. Denver is ranked No. 24 this week after coming in at No. 16 after Week 1.

Jeff Driskel is expected to start while Lock is sidelined and Blake Bortles will likely serve as Driskel’s backup.

Up next for Denver is a home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1) in Week 3. The Broncos won’t face a division opponent until Week 7 when they host the Chiefs. They’ll face the Raiders for the first time in Week 10 and the Chargers for the first time in Week 11.
