A former Nebraska men’s basketball player is preparing to make his professional debut.

A former Nebraska men’s basketball player is preparing to make his professional debut. Guard Sam Griesel is joining Telekom Baskets Bonn of Basketball Bundesliga.

The guard spent one year at Nebraska after spending the previous four years at North Dakota State. In that one season, he averaged 12 PPG, 5.8 RPG, and 3.8 assists per game.

Griesel announced the move on social media.

This life is an incredible adventure. Today I leave for my first professional basketball opportunity in Germany. I’m overwhelmed with the amount of support and love I’ve received from Lincoln and this will always be home. So excited for this next chapter!

Griesel’s father is German and played for the U20 German National Team. Telekom Baskets Bonn are the defending BCL champions.

Griesel’s contract is three years in length, according to the club. He spent time with the Celtics during the NBA summer league.
