PHOTOS: Wisconsin loses to Wake Forest in ACC/Big Ten Challenge

Photos from Wisconsin basketball’s disappointing 78-75 loss to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge:

Even though they had a great shooting night, the Wisconsin Badgers were not able to close out the game against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons falling 78-75 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

Wisconsin point guard Chucky Hepburn led the team in scoring for the second-straight game with 23 points. He had a phenomenal night from outside the arc, which included hitting a half-court shot before halftime. Unfortunately, the Badgers were outrebounded 23-17 by the Demon Deacons, which came back to hurt them at the end of the game.

Wisconsin basketball will move on to face in-state rival Marquette on Saturday at Fiserv Forum before beginning their Big Ten schedule.

How to watch Wisconsin basketball against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Tuesday night:

The Wisconsin Badgers play the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Tuesday night, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Badgers are coming off of an impressive performance in the Battle 4 Atlantis, where they were able to take home third place following a loss in overtime to the No. 3-ranked Kansas Jayhawks.

In the third-place game against USC, the Badgers were led by a breakthrough performance from point guard Chucky Hepburn, who has been struggling to find his shot so far this season. Hepburn finished the game with 17 points, four assists, two rebounds and two steals. Hopefully, Hepburn can keep the momentum going to help Wisconsin find a consistent scoring threat next to forward Tyler Wahl.

Clemson will serve as one of four hosts for the ACC-Big Ten Softball Challenge in 2023.

The ACC on Tuesday announced the host sites for next year’s event, which is returning for the first time since 2020. Notre Dame as well as Big Ten programs Ohio State and Northwestern will make the trip to Clemson next spring with each team playing four games as part of the challenge.

Georgia Tech, North Carolina and North Carolina State will also serve as hosts. All games will be played Feb. 16-19. Exact game dates and times will be announced at a later date.

Results from the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational, which will include six teams from the ACC and Big Ten, will also count toward the challenge standings. The ACC, which won the most recent challenge in 2020, holds a 3-2 lead through the first five years of the event.

Clemson, fresh off its first-ever super-regional appearance, just completed its third season as a program.

Michigan State basketball to play Notre Dame in ACC-Big Ten Challenge

Michigan State will head to South Bend, Ind. this fall for a matchup on the hardwood with the Fighting Irish.

The ACC-Big Ten Challenge schedule was announced on Friday, and the Spartans have drawn Notre Dame. Michigan State will travel to Notre Dame on November 30 in this year’s event.

This will be the 35th meeting all-time between the Spartans and Fighting Irish, with Michigan State holding the slight edge in the series at 19-15. This year’s matchup, however, will only be the fourth meeting between Michigan State and Notre Dame since 1979.

Notre Dame joins a stacked slate of games in the month of November for Michigan State. The Spartans are already on the hook to play Kentucky as part of the Champions Classic and play in the PK85 tournament — which includes a loaded field of teams. Additionally, there are reports Michigan State is going to play Gonzaga on Veteran’s Day on an aircraft carrier in San Diego.

Ohio State basketball to play at Duke in this year’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge

If you’ve never been to Cameron Indoor, this year might be the year to do it. #GoBucks

It’s going to be an interesting year for the Ohio State basketball team. Not only is it taking part in the Maui Invitational with a loaded field, but there are other tough nonconference matchups and the grind of the Big Ten season.

And now this.

According to a release from ESPN, Ohio State will travel to Cameron Indoor to take on Duke in this year’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge. It should be an interesting year for the Blue Devils as well because it’ll be a transition year with Mike Krzyzewski moving on after building Duke into a consistent national power.

But don’t let that fool you. Duke is still Duke and it’ll be a tough, tough environment to try to go into, especially with so many new faces on OSU’s team. It’ll also be right after the Buckeyes have finished up globetrotting to Hawaii and back.

The date of the game will be Thursday, November 30, with the time of the game to still to be announced.

The annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge match-ups are being released. The late November, early December, event is a fan favorite to many early in the college basketball season.

In the 2021 edition of the event the Spartans will play as the host to the Louisville Cardinals.

Michigan State has played Louisville 11 times over the course of each school’s history. MSU is 5-6 in those matchups, but is 3-0 at the Breslin Center against the Cardinals.

The last match-up featured the Spartans dropping an 82-78 game in overtime at Louisville’s KFC Yum! Center during the 2018 edition of the ACC/Big Ten challenge.

Ohio State vs. Notre Dame basketball preview, prediction, and odds

Ohio State basketball travels on the road for the first time to take on Notre Dame in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. We’ve got your preview.

Records

Ohio State 3-0, Notre Dame 1-1

Broadcast, TV, Game Time

Date: Tuesday, December 7
Game Time: 7:30 p.m. EST
Venue: Joyce Center, South Bend, IN
Network: ESPN2

After a bit of an unexpected challenge from UMass Lowell, Ohio State bounced back nicely and routed Morehead State to improve to 3-0 on the young season. Following that, the game against Alabama A&M was canceled because of concerns with positive testing within the Bulldogs’ program. That means OSU has not played a game in almost a week.

Now, the Buckeyes step up significantly with a challenge on the road against Notre Dame as a part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Will there be rust? Who knows. The Irish have also had games canceled because of COVID-19 and have only been able to play two of the four scheduled so far.

This is a significant litmus test to see where this different look OSU squad is compared to a major school on the road.

Next … The Ohio State game plan

Ohio State Basketball to face Notre Dame in ACC/Big Ten Challenge

Ohio State will travel to South Bend to face the Fighting Irish in the ACC Big Ten Challenge on December 8.

It seems odd to be talking about basketball this early into the football season… but I guess technically it’s not early in the football season? Except for the Big Ten. Who knows – it’s hard to keep track of anything in 2020.

It does appear that basketball is going to happen on a closer to normal schedule than football. However, there have already been changes such as a reduced maximum number of games of 24-27, dependent upon if teams play in multi-team events. To add to the uncertainty of the 2020-21 season, the COVID plan for winter sports has not yet been released by the Big Ten.

In spite of the unknown, games are still being scheduled and the ACC/Big Ten challenge matchups have been revealed with Ohio State taking a trip to South Bend to take on the Fighting Irish on Tuesday, December 8.

Notre Dame was 20-12 (10-10 in ACC play) last season before the season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic. This should be a good test for a Buckeye team who will lose Kaleb Wesson to the NBA draft and several key transfers both in and out of the program.
