Abe Lucas will not play vs Rams

Abe Lucas will not play vs Rams

The Seattle Seahawks are going into a touch divisional rematch against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. Unfortunately, it seems like they will be without one of their stalwarts on the offensive line.

Right tackle Abe Lucas has been out of action since a Week 1 injury (against the Rams of all teams) but has been back to practice this week. Despite being limited at practice, and carrying a QUESTIONABLE designation for Los Angeles, it appears we’ll have to wait at least another week for his return.

The lack of Lucas is not a great sign for a Seahawks offensive line that will once again have to defend against Aaron Donald. In 17 career games against Seattle, Donald has recorded 15.5 sacks of Seahawks quarterbacks.

When Lucas (and Charles Cross) went down for the count in Week 1, the Rams defense had their way with Seattle. The Seahawks were held to 13 points and shutout entirely in the second half, as the offense had only 12 total yards.

The patchwork offensive line has held up mostly well over the last ten weeks, but have struggled as of late. Facing Donald will not be an easy task to overcome.

Seahawks Week 11 injury report: only one player ruled OUT

The Seattle Seahawks have completed another week of practice as they prepare for their Week 11 rematch with the Los Angeles Rams. Fortunately for the Seahawks, they do appear to be on the healthier side of things before heading down to the City of Angels.

The biggest news has been the return of right tackle Abe Lucas to practice. Lucas, who has not played since Week 1 (also against the Rams) was limited all week, but now carries a QUESTIONABLE designation.

Only one player has been ruled OUT, and no player is DOUTBFUL. The full injury report can be seen below:

Seahawks Week 11 injury report: Tyler Locker did not practice

The Seattle Seahawks are gearing up for their Week 11 rematch against the Los Angeles Rams. They will look to both create a current win streak and avenge their Week 1 home loss to the Rams. Fortunately, they may be getting help at offensive line.

Right tackle Abe Lucas is once again limited at practice, participating for a second straight day. However, wide receiver Tyler Lockett did not participate once again.

Seahawks Week 11 injury report: Abe Lucas limited in return to practice

In his first practice since the knee injury, Lucas was listed as limited.

The Seahawks will finally be getting right tackle Abe Lucas back in the lineup soon. Lucas was designated to return to practice earlier today after spending the last 10 weeks on the injured reserve list. In his first practice since the knee injury, Lucas was listed as limited. Meanwhile, Tyler Lockett and four others did not participate.

Here’s the full injury report from Wednesday’s practice.

Injury updates for the Seahawks heading into their Week 8 game against the Browns

A lot of Seahawks have been bitten by the injury bug this season. Wednesday’s initial injury report was about as long as it gets at any point in the year, let alone before midseason. The list of DNPs was eight names long, followed by another seven that were limited. Whether it’s just bad luck or a carry-over from a training camp that the front office has since admitted got a little too physical, it seems like they’ll have to embrace the next-man-up mantra the rest of the season.

There are at least two silver linings this week, though. Heading into today’s home game against the Browns, two players are listed as questionable and both should be good to go. As head coach Pete Carroll told reporters on Friday and Ian Rapoport reminded us all today, wide receiver Tyler Lockett (hamstring) and strong safety Jamal Adams (knee) are both expected to play.

Through six games Lockett has 27 catches, 289 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Adams has appeared in three games, totaling 12 tackles.

One player is listed as doubtful for today’s game – guard Phil Haynes. He will be replaced by rookie Anthony Bradford, who’s shown tremendous promise, at least as a run blocker.

The biggest injury though is still the mysterious knee issue for right tackle Abe Lucas. He is still on the injured reserve list and it doesn’t sound like Carroll is confident he will return anytime soon. How to replace Lucas may be the single greatest x-factor in today’s game.

Since Charles Cross returned at left tackle, the Seahawks have been able to move Stone Forsythe over to the right side and replace Jake Curhan, who had been the weakest link in the chain. While Forsythe is an upgrade over Curhan it’s a low bar. So, we may see 41-year old veteran Jason Peters – who’s been elevated from the practice squad – take over at right tackle and do his best to contain Myles Garrett.

After it was over, Seattle head coach Pete Carroll gave the media updates on several injured players.

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Arizona Cardinals at home on Sunday by a score of 20-10. While it wasn’t even close to pretty a win is a win and this was an absolutely critical one in terms of playoff probability. Even better, the team came out of yesterday’s game relatively unscathed.

After it was over, Seattle head coach Pete Carroll gave the media updates on several key players. Here’s what he had to say about each.

Jason Peters talks about mentoring young Seahawks offensive line

In football, there’s an old saying: “it’s not the X’s and O’s, but the Jimmy’s and Joe’s.”

The Seattle Seahawks made an interesting roster move between Weeks 1 and 2 when they brought in veteran offensive lineman Jason Peters. Dealing with injuries to both Charles Cross and Abe Lucas, Seattle needed to bolster their depth. Ultimately, Peters did not play and the backup tackles were exceptional against the Lions.

But what Peters brings to the table is far more than skill on the field. Peters has been around the league a while – if he plays, this will be his twentieth season in the NFL. The 41-year-old has certainly picked up a thing or two along the way. The knowledge Peters has amassed is something he is more than willing to share with those younger than him.

It’s the knowledge that has allowed Peters to make an immediate impact, as he immediately began to mentor Seattle’s offensive line. Something the Seahawks coaching staff did not ask of him.

“When I first got here I gave them a couple of pointers on top of (offensive line) coach Andy (Dickerson) telling them. They listen to what you tell them and they applied it to the game. … They’re willing to listen and willing to grow.”

In football, there’s an old saying: “it’s not the X’s and O’s, but the Jimmy’s and Joe’s.” You can have all the talent and scheming ability in the world, but when it comes down to it, you need the human element of the sport. Sometimes simply having a man like Peters physically in the building is worth its own weight in gold.

The hits keep coming up front for Seattle’s offensive line

Week 1 was a costly Sunday for the Seattle Seahawks. Not only did they lose their home opener in the worst loss since 2017, but they also lost their bookend starting tackles. Unfortunately, the hits keep on coming for right tackle Abe Lucas.

Not only was Lucas placed on injured reserve earlier this week, but now it is announced he will undergo a procedure on his injured knee. This is a critical loss for the Seahawks, no matter how long Lucas is out.

Not that it’s ever a good time to lose your starting tackles, but this is an especially inopportune moment for Seattle. The Lions have a legitimate pass rush, led by the No. 2 pick in the 2022 NFL draft – Aidan Hutchinson. With Charles Cross already ruled out against Detroit, it could be even tougher sledding for a Seahawks offense that struggled mightily once Lucas and Cross left the game against the Rams.

7 things to know about Seahawks, Lions going into Week 2 matchup

The Seattle Seahawks are visiting the Detroit Lions tomorrow in a critical game.

The Seattle Seahawks are visiting the Detroit Lions tomorrow in a critical game. Here are seven important things to know heading into their early Sunday matchup.

1. The all-time series history is in their favor

For one thing, the Seahawks have history on their side. In their all-time series Seattle has won 12 of 17 matchups, including five games in a row and eight of their last nine overall against the Lions. The last time they lost against Detroit was back in 2012, which was former franchise quarterback Russell Wilson’s rookie season. Their most recent meeting was early in the 2022 season in Week 3. That turned out to be a wild shootout which the Seahawks barely won, 48-45.
