A.J. Green happy to cheer for Bengals again after retiring from NFL

A.J. Green says the Bengals are his team now that he’s retired.

Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green says he’s thrilled he can root for the team again in the wake of his retirement.

Green, freshly retired this week, says he’s a big fan of Joe Burrow and the weapons around him (Tee Higgins said he models his game after Green, after all).

The seven-time Pro Bowler also says he knows the front office will continue to be elite at adding weapons around the quarterback position.

“Miranda is like, ‘Now we can root for the Bengals again,'” Green said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “That’s my team now. I want those guys to win. I’m a big fan of Joe (Burrow), and those guys. One thing about the Bengals. They’ll draft the skill players unbelievably. They always do well. I hope they can keep all those boys in.”

Green added this awesome note: “Gunnar always tells me, ‘Daddy, you need to go back to the Bengals.”

He’s not, not after happily fading into retirement with the cleats hung up, cemented as one of the greatest receivers of his generation and with his health.

It has to be fun for fans to hear Green will be rooting hard for his former team now. And one has to wonder if now that he’s retired, Green has to wait all that long before potentially becoming a member of the team’s Ring of Honor.

Andy Dalton sends heartfelt message to A.J. Green after WR retires

A touching message from Andy Dalton.

Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton sent a heartfelt message to A.J. Green this week.

In the wake of Green announcing his retirement from the NFL, Dalton took to Instagram to give fans one last Dalton-to-Green connection, writing the following:

“What a career! You set the standard of what it meant to be a pro. You did it the right way. Thankful that we came into the league together. We started as teammates and turned into brothers! The Green family holds a special place in our lives. Enjoy your next chapter! 14×18”

Included in the post? A fun sampling of pictures featuring the two.

As Bengals fans know, Green and Dalton entered the NFL together in the 2011 draft and quickly helped the Bengals overcome the sudden end of the Carson Palmer era. Dalton stayed with the Bengals through the 2019 season and Green the 2020 season as the Zac Taylor era rebuild got underway.

For the second time in a little over a month, a member of the Arizona Cardinals has announced his retirement.

Wide receiver A.J. Green revealed via his Instagram account that his NFL career is over.

I’ve never been a man of many words, so I’ll keep this short.

Thank you. Thank you to all who have supported, encouraged, and inspired me throughout my career. Special thank you to the University of Georgia, Cincinnati Bengals, and Arizona Cardinals for the opportunity to pursue my dreams. I’ve stayed true to the game and it owes me nothing. Be blessed.. Love y’all! The next chapter begins…

Green was selected No. 4 overall by the Bengals in the 2011 NFL draft and spent a decade in Cincinnati. After three injury-plagued years with the Bengals, he signed with the Cardinals in 2021.

That season, he caught 54 passes for 848 yards and three touchdowns, his highest totals since 2017.

He only had 24 catches for 236 yards and two touchdowns in 2022 but had a 77-yard touchdown catch in his final game.

He was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first seven NFL seasons and finished his career with 727 receptions for 10,514 yards and 70 touchdowns.

Green’s retirement leaves another hole to fill for the Cardinals, who saw defensive end J.J. Watt announce his retirement in late December.

Around the North: Former Bengals WR A.J. Green hangs up his cleats

A.J. Green will no longer give the Browns fits as the former Bengals wide receiver has hung up his cleats.

The 2010s were littered with games where wide receiver A.J. Green and cornerback Joe Haden would go toe-to-toe in epic showdowns when the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals would faceoff. And now both players have decided to hang up their cleats as Green announced his retirement today. The AFC North will not be the same.

Playing for both the Bengals and the Arizona Cardinals, Green stacked together a career with seven Pro Bowls to his name. He finished his 12-year career with over 10,500 yards receiving and 70 touchdowns on 727 catches. With Haden and Green now both out of the league, we truly are in a new era of NFL football.

Cardinals could have a few players retire this offseason

J.J. Watt has concluded his NFL career. The Cardinals could have a few others retire this offseason as well.

The Arizona Cardinals bid farewell to a 4-13 2022 season and also to defensive lineman J.J. Watt, who announced he would retire after the season.

However, with big changes coming this offseason between hiring a new head coach and general manager, Watt might not be the only player retiring.

The Cardinals have a number of players who could decide to move on to other things, closing the chapter on their football playing careers.

Who are they? Read on.

7 miss practice Tuesday as Christmas Eve matchup with Saints approaches

Seven missed Tuesday’s practice as the Saints approach.

The Cleveland Browns are potentially getting a massive boost as center Ethan Pocic has been designated for return from Injured Reserve after his four weeks off. As the New Orleans Saints are next up on the menu, however, the Browns were missing seven players from practice on Tuesday as they work through injuries.

While some were scheduled days of rest, the Browns were missing a handful of key contributors, including running back Nick Chubb, who is battling through a foot injury. Here we take a look at every member of the team who appeared on Tuesday’s injury report and their status.

Browns Injury Report: 10 listed on Wednesday’s report with Ravens three days away

The Browns have a lengthy injury list.

The Cleveland Browns are looking to get back in the win column after losing to the Cincinnati Bengals. On a short week, the Browns are set to host another AFC North foe as the Baltimore Ravens are coming to town on Saturday. The Browns, however, are dealing with a pretty long injury list as they look to retake the field in three days.

However, the good news for the Browns is that quarterback Lamar Jackson has not practiced yet this week either. Should the Browns get Tyler Huntley under center, their already favored odds could continue to increase.

Who appeared on the Browns’ injury list? We take a look here.

Week 14 Injury Report: Amari Cooper only player with injury designation vs. Bengals

How healthy are the Browns going into their Week 14 matchup against the Bengals?

The Cleveland Browns are now just two days away from making a trip down I-71 South to take on their AFC North rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals. If the Browns beat the Bengals, it would make the sixth straight win over their in-state rivals, as head coach Kevin Stefanski has never lost to them. The Browns are relatively healthy going into this Week 14 matchup as well, as wide receiver Amari Cooper is the only player listed with an injury designation with a hip injury suffered in the win over the Houston Texans.

Who else showed up on Friday’s injury report? We take a look here.
