Doc Rivers wants everyone to leave him alone about blown 3-1 leads: ‘I wish y’all would tell the whole story with me’

All you gotta do is win, Doc. That’s all.

Doc Rivers has had enough, man. He’s done with the media. All of us. The man has clearly had it up to *here* with everyone’s questions about blown leads and everything else.

It’s been like that all season from the moment when the 76ers blew a big lead to the Clippers in January up until now. He’s just had enough of talking about blown leads.

To be fair to us, he’s done it all throughout his career. He blew a 3-1 lead with the Magic against the Pistons in 2003, he blew one with the Clippers against the Rockets in 2015 and then he did it again with the Clippers in 2020 against the Nuggets.

There’s a history there. But, let Doc tell it, that’s far from the whole story.

“I wish y’all would tell the whole story with me. My Orlando team was the 8th seed — no one gives me credit for getting up against the Pistons, who won the title…The Clipper team that we lost 3-1, Chris Paul didn’t play in the first two games and we didn’t have homecourt. The last one, to me, was the one we blew. We blew that. But that was in the bubble and anything can happen in the bubble. There’s no homecourt. Game 7 would’ve been in LA. It just happens.

To be fair to Doc, those are all valid points when you look back at the history of those series. There were certain circumstances that led to things playing out the way they did.

That Magic team probably shouldn’t have been where they were and wouldn’t have if not for the brilliance of Tracy McGrady. That first Clippers team? Chris Paul was hurt. And that last Clippers team? Well, yikes.

But, still, these are 3-1 leads. And you probably shouldn’t be blowing 3-1 leads.

This isn’t something that “just happens,” as Rivers said. It’s something that actually rarely happens. It’s only happened 13 times in NBA history and the league has been around for a long time.

So, sure. It’s probably annoying to hear about. But reporters are absolutely right to ask these questions of Doc when he’s got 3 of those 13 blown series leads under his belt.

The only way to make that go away is to win. So, hopefully, he’s got his 76ers prepared and ready to go for Thursday night.

Vernon Maxwell masterfully trolled the Jazz for blowing a 3-1 lead in the playoffs

Vernon Maxwell hates Utah.

Vernon Maxwell does not like Utah. Honestly, couldn’t tell you why though I’m also not entirely sure he’s wrong in his hatred for the state.

All we know is that he hates Utah, perhaps because his Rockets en route to back-to-back titles in the 90s. And he’s been trolling the entire state for years.

He made fun of them back in 2017 by saying that he didn’t know the state had internet — it was brutal. He doubled back and trolled them again earlier this year by saying a group of kids who couldn’t buy a bucket were the best shooters the state had to offer. Again, brutal.

This time, he’s going straight for Jazz. Immediately after the Jazz blew a 3-1 lead to the Nuggets, he fired this bad boy off.

YO. That’s rough.

First of all, blowing a 3-1 lead will always be hilarious. Those are just the rules of engagement here.

But when you consider the history between Maxwell and, well, the state of Utah? That’s when you realize this is actually a master class in trolling. This what Maxwell does.

We have evidence.

Bravo, Vernon. Bravo. Just brilliant. Sorry Jazz fans. I have no beef with y’all, but these jokes are hilarious.

The internet revived Warriors 3-1 lead jokes after Steph Curry’s March 1 return was delayed

The Warriors have blown another 3-1, unfortunately.

Basketball fans will never, ever forget that the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead in the 2016 NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

And it’s not just because it’s probably the biggest failure we’ve ever seen in the most spectacular fashion possible in professional sports. “The Warriors blew a 3-1 lead” jokes dominated social media for months – but some point, they just stopped. Maybe it was when they became invincible with Kevin Durant? It’s hard to say.

But, at any rate, they stopped… until today.

Stephen Curry was set to return the court March 1st against the Washington Wizards. He was going to play basketball for the first time since October… until the Warriors decided to keep him out for “rhythm” reasons. BOO.

That’s fine, or whatever. It’s extremely practical on the surface. But that’s not why Steph is sitting out a few extra days. We all know why this is happening.

The Warriors realized that March 1st was actually…3/1. And they didn’t want Curry to return on 3/1 — a cursed day in Warriors history. Why? Because, and I am absolutely obligated remind you of this fact, the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead in the 2016 NBA Finals.

The internet figured them out quick.

The Warriors brought this on themselves, man. We know what’s up — they’re not slick. Just come out and say it next time, y’all.

In all seriousness, hopefully Curry returns to the court soon. The sport hasn’t been the same without him. But don’t get it twisted — these 3-1 jokes are still going to fly until the day comes.
