2025 5-star WR out of Draper (UT) will reportedly visit Texas A&M this weekend

2025 5-star WR Jerome Myles is headed to College Station this weekend

Ahead of Texas A&M’s 2024 season opener vs. Notre Dame this Saturday, head coach Mike Elko and his staff will host over 100 prospects within the 2025, 2026, and 2027 recruiting cycles, as 247Sports’ Tom Loy provided the inside scoop on what to expect the weekend.

While one of the listed 2025 visitors, a top-ranked TE prospect, will not be named at this time, it has been revealed that one of the program’s high-priority prospects out of Utah, 5-star wide receiver Jerome Myles, has joined the visitor’s list ahead of his Oct. 30 commitment announcement.

A native of Draper, Utah, Myles is predicted to stay home and land with the Utes, but as we all know, in-season visits once prospects have a chance to see a team in action can change a recruit’s mind once he begins to see how he fits in a coaching staff’s scheme.

Standing at an impressive 6’2″ and 205 pounds, Myles brings a wealth of potential to the position.

During said 2023 season, Myles recorded 19 receptions for 486 yards and six touchdowns while averaging an incredible 25 yards per reception. During Corner Canyon’s appearance and eventual victory in the Utah 6A state championship game, the incoming senior grabbed five receptions for 122 yards and a touchdown.

According to 247Sports, Myles is currently positioned as the 30th-ranked prospect in the 2025 cycle, the 5th-ranked wide receiver prospect, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in Utah.

Myles will choose between Georgia, Ohio State, Utah, South Carolina, and Texas A&M.

Newest Duke commit Bryce Davis is 247Sports’ highest-rated prospect in school history

Four-star 2025 edge rusher Bryce Davis became the highest-rated Duke commit in school history when he flipped from Clemson on Sunday.

Four-star 2025 edge rusher Bryce Davis changed the entire complexion of the Duke football recruiting class on Sunday when he flipped from Clemson, but he also made some program history in the process.

According to 247Sports, Davis is the highest-rated prospect to commit to the Blue Devils since tracking began in 2000.

Davis, a Greensboro native who plays for Grimsley High School, is the site’s No. 64 player and ninth-ranked edge rusher in the Class of 2025. He’s the third-best prospect from the state of North Carolina, and he becomes the 25th member of Duke’s 2025 class.

Davis initially committed to the Tigers back in July, but On3’s Collin Ginnan wrote that Davis debated between the Blue Devils and the Tigers until the final morning. Three national recruiting experts filed predictions for first-year Duke head coach Manny Diaz to secure the flip over the previous 48 hours, first 247Sports’ Tom Loy on Friday but On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons followed on Saturday.

Over his last two seasons for the Whirlies, Davis has logged 15 sacks and 30 tackles for loss in just 16 games.

Duke football ranks almost last in the ACC in 247Sports’ Talent Composite score

247Sports updated its Talent Composite rating, grading every college football program on the players’ star ratings, and Duke isn’t very high.

247Sports updated its Talent Composite scores on Thursday, grading every college football program based on the star ratings of its players, and the Duke Blue Devils nearly brought up the rear in the ACC.

The Blue Devils finished 16th out of 17 ACC teams in the ranking, coming in 70th nationally. Only Wake Forest (71st) finished lower.

First-year head coach Manny Diaz might inherit a team with 17 wins over the last two seasons, but most of the talent that brought that success isn’t at Wallace Wade Stadium this year. Left tackle Graham Barton went to the NFL, as did All-ACC defensive lineman DeWayne Carter, and quarterback Riley Leonard and edge rusher RJ Oben transferred to Notre Dame.

Only four of the 80 Duke football players on 247Sports’ website have more than three stars to their name, the fewest of any program in the conference.

Among those four-star talents, however, is new quarterback Maalik Murphy, who transferred from Texas this winter and officially won the starting job this week. Edge rusher VJ Anthony, offensive lineman James Pogorelc (a Stanford transfer), and freshman wide receiver Chase Tyler are the only other four-star talents in the building.

Duke gets the 2024 season underway against Elon on August 30.

Where Notre Dame placed on 247Sports 2024 Team Talent Composite

Do you think the Irish have one of the best rosters in college football?

It’s always interesting to see how Notre Dame football matches up talent wise with other teams across the country.

As one of the few title contenders this fall, you’d expect that the Irish would have one of the top rosters in the nation. 247Sports answered that question, and put Notre Dame as its No. 10 overall team in their composite rankings.

Diving in a bit deeper into their rankings, you can see that although the Irish are still one of the top teams, its average is higher than its ranking. Notre Dame finished fifth with a score of 91.14, trailing only Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia and Texas.

This list just confirms what many already believed, that Notre Dame has one of the top rosters in all of college football. We will soon get to see if that talent will match its production.

Where does LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier rank on 247Sports top QBs list?

Garrett Nussmeier is a top 10 quarterback entering the season despite having only one career start.

Clint Brewster of 247Sports recently ranked every Power Four starting quarterback for the 2024 season. Where does [autotag]Garrett Nussmeier[/autotag] rank on the list?

Brewster actually gave Nussmeier a good ranking as the Tigers new starting quarterback comes in at No. 10 on the list. As you can imagine, the Top 10 is full of SEC quarterbacks. Six out of the top 10 all hail from the best conference in college football.

Nussmeier joins Quinn Ewers, Carson Beck, Jaxson Dart, Connor Weigman and Jalen Milroe in the top 10. Nussmeier waited his turn as he sat behind [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] and [autotag]Max Johnson[/autotag] for three seasons, but now it is his time to shine.

He got the first start of his career against Wisconsin in the bowl game last year. He finished the game 31-for-45 with three touchdown passes and only one interception as he led the Tigers to a 35-31 win and their second straight 10-win season under [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag].

Top-rated 2025 Michigan guard recruit schedules visit to Notre Dame

Will the Irish get him?

[autotag]Micah Shrewsberry[/autotag] is entering his second season as Notre Dame coach. He’s waiting for the one recruit that really could make an impact. If everything goes right, he might have just found his guy.

Trey McKenney is a four- or five-star recruit depending on which site you look at. According to 247Sports, the Michigan shooting guard is the state’s top-rated player in the 2025 recruiting class. While it’s been known for a while now that he would be visiting the Irish, he finally has set a date with them along with all the other schools he’s visiting:

The fact that McKenney is visiting the Irish last means they’ll have a chance to save the best presentation for last. As of right now, On3 has him most likely to pick Michigan State. A lot can happen over the next few months though, and Irish fans will be anxious to see if it works out for their team.

Consensus 2025 five-star OT Michael Fasusi picks Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma earns a commitment from 2025 five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi.

Oklahoma has its big fish for the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag].

Since Brent Venables took over, five-star prospects [autotag]Jackson Arnold[/autotag], [autotag]Adepoju Adebawore[/autotag], Peyton Bowen and David Stone highlighted their recruiting classes. For 2025, it’s [autotag]Michael Fasusi[/autotag].

Fasusi is a five-star offensive tackle prospect from Texas who hails from the same high school that produced Sooners four-star defensive back Jaydan Hardy last year. Lewisville High School, located just under 45 minutes from Dallas, has been kind to the Sooners in recent years, and on Tuesday, the Sooners reaped the benefits again.

Fasusi’s recruitment has been national since he was a sophomore when it was apparent he was heading for five-star status. The Sooners offered Fasusi in January 2023, and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh has been relentless in his efforts to land Fasusi. Even with the rise of other highly sought offensive tackle prospects in this class, Bedenbuagh and OU remained in hot pursuit.

Their relationship was an integral part of the Sooners winning out.  Bedenbaugh’s track record is second to none in developing talent along the offensive line.

Fasusi is an incredible asset to the Sooners, and beating out Texas and Texas A&M is nothing to scoff at. Texas has been a major player in this recruitment, and at times this year, it felt as if the Sooners were in second place. Oklahoma weathered the highs and lows of the recruitment and advances from other challengers.

In April, predictions heavily favored the Texas Longhorns, but over the last week, insiders that cover the Longhorns began to flip their predictions to the Sooners. National recruiting figures such as Tom Loy, Matt Zenitz and Steve Wiltfong reinforced the shift.

Kyle Flood is a well-respected name in offensive line recruiting, so beating him and Texas, especially with Texas’ recruiting ability on the offensive line of late, is worthy of even more praise for Bedenbaugh and the Sooners as the dust settles.

On the field, Fasusi is a dynamic prospect. Gabe Brooks, a scouting analyst for 247Sports, compared Fasusi to a former Sooner.

Gifted O-lineman with true book-end tackle potential. Possesses excellent physical tools and promising athletic context in track and field and combine testing categories. Legitimately 6-foot-5 with long arms and a big reach. Wears mass well and owns space to add more bulk. Multi-sport athlete with 50+ shot put and 150+ discus prowess. Grew up playing soccer and is young for the 2025 cycle. Similarly explosive metrics in vertical and broad jump relative to OT projection. Shows foot quickness and agility to live on an island in pass protection. Nimbleness translates to movement ability in the run game. Flashes some punch power that should become more consistent with continued development. Improved phone-booth strength from sophomore to junior year. Length and athleticism help in recovery vs. twitchy edge speed, but will need to continue technical development to match P4-caliber foes at point of attack. Somewhat high-cut build and plays upright at times. Getting more comfortable as a convicted block-finishing presence, but can still unleash more mean streak. Entering senior year, looks like one of the nation’s top 2025 offensive tackle prospects. Projects as a high-major multi-year starter with physical and athletic specs that suggest early-round NFL Draft upside. – Brooks, 247Sports

As for the Sooner, Brooks had in mind as a comparison for Fasusi? Wanya Morris. Morris transferred to Oklahoma and spent two years as a Sooner before being drafted last year by the Kansas City Chiefs, where he is a starter on the back-to-back defending Super Bowl champs alongside another Bedenbaugh product, All-Pro center Creed Humphrey.

Oklahoma had to land Fasusi after missing on [autotag]Lamont Rogers[/autotag] and [autotag]Ty Haywood[/autotag] and trailing in the race for [autotag]Andrew Babalola[/autotag]. It was a non-negotiable as all four prospects were top 100 players.

Fortunately, the Sooners have their left tackle for the future. Pairing him with the fast-rising Ryan Fodje, an ascending player over the last year, as well as interior offensive linemen [autotag]Darius Afalava[/autotag] and [autotag]Owen Hollenbeck[/autotag] makes for an even stronger offensive line recruiting class. The Sooners are well positioned to keep [autotag]Jackson Arnold[/autotag], [autotag]Michael Hawkins[/autotag], [autotag]Kevin Sperry[/autotag] and [autotag]Jaden O’Neal[/autotag] upright as the Sooners settle in as SEC members in the coming years.

With Fasusi on board, the Sooners vaulted from 11th in 247Sports team recruiting rankings to eighth, right behind Texas A&M. Fasusi becomes the first five-star offensive lineman in Norman since [autotag]Brey Walker[/autotag].

Florida surging up team recruiting rankings after summer additions

Florida closed out the summer by adding several commitments from the 2025 class, and the Gators are jumping up the team rankings as a result.

It’s been a good summer for Billy Napier and the rest of Florida football’s recruiting staff.

Entering June, Florida had just four players under verbal commitment and ranked in the 50s nationally. A surge over the past two months has Florida moving up every major recruiting rankings list in the country, however.

Most recently, four-star Miami Booker T. Washington cornerback [autotag]Ben Hanks Jr[/autotag]. entered the fold, which led to at least a 10-spot jump on multiple lists.

The Gators surged from No. 43 to No. 30 on the 247Sports team rankings, passing three SEC teams among others. The On3 recruiting rankings are even higher on Florida, moving UF up 11 spots to No. 21 overall.

ESPN used to be the gold standard for recruiting but has fallen out of favor in recent years. On August 9, the industry leader pegged Florida as the No. 35 team on its recruiting rankings. Hanks is the team’s fourth ESPN300 recruit, so a significant jump is expected in the September update.

The outlier here is Rivals, which has Florida at No. 46 overall on its rankings. The Rivals player grades can differ drastically from the other major services, and this is one of those times.

Of course, there’s time for things to change as the cycle continues. The early signing period is four months away, and most high schools are just beginning the fall season.

247Sports analyst: if Michigan football does one thing, it will win 2024 championship

That really should be all it takes. #GoBlue

Not many analysts are giving Michigan football much of a chance to repeat as national champions in 2024. It does make sense — the entire offensive line, quarterback J.J. McCarthy, running back Blake Corum. and two team captains on defense have moved on to the NFL. But one 247Sports analyst says that the road to Atlanta for the maize and blue requires ‘consistent’ play from one position.

247Sports’ Clint Brewster is a national analyst who actually sees the Wolverines for what they are — a team with a complete, perhaps generational defense, and a lot of solid offensive pieces. But the way Brewster sees it, if Alex Orji wins the starting quarterback job and is merely consistent, that should be enough for the Wolverines to win a second straight national championship.

Many aren’t recognizing what Brewster does here: Michigan is built much like Georgia has been in recent years. Though Stetson Bennett was spectacular in his senior year, he wasn’t some ballyhooed recruit for the Bulldogs — he was a former walk-on. And UGA won primarily from dominant line play on both sides of the ball, a consistent quarterback and run game, with an elite tight end.

Guess what Michigan is projected to have in 2024?

Yet, many will look to the teams that are loaded with five-star talent (which, Georgia always is, but it matters more what you do with it in games), especially at the skill positions.

Media are often wooed by the shiny toys that football teams have, but it’s usually line play that determines football games. And Michigan may have the best or near the best in college football on both sides of the ball.

So, with that in mind, Alex Orji — if he wins — presents a lot of challenges for opposing defenses. Given what he can do with his legs, if he can be a 65% passer (or thereabouts), and take care of the football, the Wolverines would have more than a solid shot to make it back to the College Football Playoff and beyond.
