Sooners receive another prediction for 2025 QB Kevin Sperry

Sooners receive another prediction for talented 2025 quarterback Kevin Sperry out of Rock Hill High School.

A few days ago, the Oklahoma Sooners offered 2025 quarterback [autotag]Kevin Sperry[/autotag]. Not long after the offer became public, OUInsider’s Parker Thune and Brandon Drumm issued crystal ball predictions in favor of the Sooners.

Oklahoma looks like the favorite in what will be a high-profile recruitment for the 2025 prospect out of Rock Hill High School (Frisco, Texas).

The Sooners received another prediction, this time from Chad Simmons, On3’s director of recruiting.

Sperry is unrated across the recruiting landscape, but when 247Sports, Rivals, On3 and ESPN drop their evaluations, Sperry will easily be considered a four-star prospect in the early going.

As a sophomore for Rock Hill, Sperry showed off what will make him one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

He has a strong arm that can get the ball down the field and hit all the intermediate throws. He does a great job throwing with timing and anticipation. Sperry excels throwing on the run in both directions.

Equally impressive is his ability to run the ball, a staple in Jeff Lebby’s offense. He’s a natural ball carrier that is unafraid to initiate contact but is also able to make players miss at the second level. He’s got the speed to get to the outside, and his agility allows him to move well in the pocket.

Though we’re a long way from 2025 national signing day, the Oklahoma Sooners already look well-positioned for one of their future quarterbacks.

With [autotag]Jackson Arnold[/autotag] on the way and the possibility of [autotag]Michael Hawkins[/autotag] coming in the 2024 cycle and Sperry in 2025, Jeff Lebby has the future looking bright at the quarterback position.

The Alabama coaching staff recently extended an offer to 2025 running back Akylin Dear.

Dear plays for Quitman High School in Quitman, Mississippi. His sophomore highlight tape shows his ability to over-power defenders and pick up big chunks of yardage. His running style is somewhat reminiscent of Leonard Fournette.

Alabama is already recruiting a handful of other running backs in the 2025 recruiting cycle like Alvin Henderson and Anthony Rogers.

With Dear living less than two hours away from Tuscaloosa, he could look to make multiple trips in the future. He will have both his junior and senior year to take visits.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Akylin Dear’s recruiting profile.

Alabama offers 2025 4-Star QB Antwann Hill

2025 quarterback Antwann Hill visited Alabama for Junior Day. He landed an offer from the Crimson Tide over the weekend.

His talent has not gone unnoticed as a handful of SEC programs have already offered him. Hill has also taken visits to Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, and Florida State.

Not to mention, he had already taken two other visits to Alabama prior to his Junior Day visit. He made trips to Tuscaloosa back in 2021 when he was just freshman.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Antwann Hill’s recruiting profile.

Alabama hosted in-state, 2025 RB Anthony Rogers for Junior Day visit

2025 running back Anthony Rogers made his seventh unofficial visit to Alabama for Junior Day. He is one of the top running backs in the state.

Running back Anthony Rogers, of the 2025 class, was in Tuscaloosa for Alabama’s Junior Day.

Rogers plays running back at Pike Road High School in Pike Road, Alabama. During his junior season, Rogers had 187 carries for 1,626 yards and nine touchdowns. He had a key role on the Patriots’ offense the past two seasons.

Something interesting to note is that Rogers was a high school teammate of Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins. Alabama also has a Pike Road alumni on its team with defensive lineman Khurtiss Perry.

According to On3’s RPM, Rogers is most likely to commit to Alabama at 43.7% likelihood.

There is mutual interest between Rogers and the Crimson Tide. That could go a long way in the 2025 running back’s recruitment.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Rogers’ recruitment as well as Alabama football recruiting.

Henderson plays running back at Elba High School in Elba, Alabama. During his sophomore season, Henderson had 195 carries for 2,636 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Thus far, Henderson has taken seven unofficial visits to Alabama. The second-most visits that a school has received from Henderson is Auburn with three.

According to On3’s RPM, Alabama is the favorite to land Henderson’s commitment at 44.0% likelihood.

There is clearly mutual interest between Henderson and Alabama. It will be interesting to see how his recruitment unfolds. His trip to Tuscaloosa for Junior Day was the eighth time he has been on campus. Keep in mind, he will be just a junior at Elba this upcoming season.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Henderson’s recruitment as well as Alabama football recruiting news.

Sooners receive Crystal Ball for 2025 cornerback Maliek Hawkins

Fresh off a big recruiting weekend in Norman, the Oklahoma Sooners received a crystal ball prediction to land 2025 CB Maliek Hawkins.

The Oklahoma Sooners had the first of several big recruiting weekends in the month of March. While much of the focus is on the 2024 class, the Sooners did host several prospects in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

That includes 2025 Emerson cornerback [autotag]Maliek Hawkins[/autotag]. As a sophomore in high school, Hawkins already has offers from three schools; Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas State.

The Sooners recently offered the talented cornerback prospect and have an inside track because of the coaching staff’s relationship with the family. Brent Venables coached his father, Mike, back in the early 2000s. Maliek’s older brother [autotag]Michael Hawkins[/autotag] has also been heavily recruited by the Sooners for much of the last year and have been the trending favorite to land the 2024 four-star quarterback.

But apart from the family connection, Maliek is a player, someone that could bring a lot to the Oklahoma Sooners’ secondary. He already has the size, standing six feet tall as a sophomore.

He’s a physical player, unafraid to come up and make a hit in run support or in the wide receiver screen game. He plays with an edge in press coverage, looking to set the tone physically in his matchups. He does a good job mirroring receivers off the line of scrimmage and displays the ability to break up the pass at the catch point.

With Maliek in town, the Sooners issued an offer for the talented cornerback prospect, and OUInsider’s Parker Thune wasted little time issuing a crystal ball in favor of Oklahoma.

Oklahoma set to host over 20 prospects in Norman for Junior Day

Oklahoma is set to host over 20 prospects this weekend in Norman for their March 4th Junior Day,

While there’s no fancy title for it, Norman will be jumping this weekend as Oklahoma will host many prospects from multiple classes. While Oklahoma previously had a Junior Day earlier this year, they’ll be having another round of prospects on campus for an unofficial visit.

The 2024 class has yet to bear any fruits for Oklahoma, but with the sheer number of prospects from said class in town, it’s tough to imagine this drought lasts much longer. If we learned one thing from the last recruiting class under Brent Venables and Co., the Sooners might not start fast, but that doesn’t matter because it’s not a sprint. Recruiting is truly a marathon. And the Sooners are more than willing to go the distance and come out on top.

That said, we’ve compiled a list of all the 2024 names expected on campus this Saturday. Some of the names are players that have previously visited OU, while others are visiting Oklahoma for the first time since receiving an offer.

2024 Prospects

2025 prospects

The list is packed with talent across the board. While some names are just popping up on the Sooners’ radar, Oklahoma has a real shot at making impressions and strengthening bonds with players they already have built relationships.

First impressions can go a long way, so Oklahoma will look to impress this weekend. Names like [autotag]Michael Hawkins[/autotag] and [autotag]Williams Nwaneri[/autotag] stick out because the Sooners have been recruiting them heavily since last year. Newcomers like [autotag]KJ Daniels[/autotag], [autotag]Bennett Warren[/autotag], and others are getting to experience Norman for the first time.

Oklahoma Sooners offer 2025 five-star defensive back D.J. Pickett

Oklahoma Sooners offer 2025 five-star defensive back D.J. Pickett.

The Oklahoma Sooners have made a concerted effort to rebuild their defensive back group over the last two recruiting cycles. From the 2022 and 2023 classes, they’ve brought in 11 cornerbacks and safeties in an effort to infuse talent on the back end of the defense.

That won’t slow down in the 2024 or 2025 cycles as the game has become more aerial in nature. Looking to add to their talented secondary, Oklahoma offered 2025 defensive back D.J. Pickett out of Tampa, Fla.

Pickett, who plays both safety and cornerback for Zephyrhills High School, is simply a playmaker. He does a great job tracking the ball in the air and making a play at the catch point. In press-man coverage, he stays in phase with the wide receiver while keeping his eyes on the football.

He’s a good athlete at this stage of his high school career, displaying good lateral agility and the ability to elevate over opponents to win 50-50 catch situations. He’s a good run defender, displaying a willingness to come up from his safety spot to attack ball carriers around the line of scrimmage.

He’s a versatile player that could play either safety or cornerback for the Oklahoma Sooners.

With two years to go until the 2025 class signs their national letters of intent, Pickett has already picked up 30 Power Five offers. Along with Oklahoma, his offer sheet includes all of the heavy hitters. Over the next two years, D.J. Pickett’s recruitment will be one to watch.

2025 4-Star WR Jaime Ffrench set to visit Alabama for Junior Day

2025 wide receiver Jaime Ffrench has scheduled his visits for the spring. He will take his first unofficial visit to Alabama on March 4 for Junior Day.

Alabama is expected to have a slew of talented prospects on campus this weekend for Junior Day. One of the more promising recruits scheduled to be in Tuscaloosa is 2025 wide receiver Jaime Ffrench.

Ffrench plays wide receiver at Madarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida. He possesses good size at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds. As a junior, Ffrench had 44 receptions for 671 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He also runs track and plays basketball for the school as well.

Ffrench’s older brother, Maurice, played wide receiver at Pittsburgh from 2016-2019. The Panthers have offered Jaime and hosted him for an unofficial visit in July.

It will be interesting to see if Alabama can pry Ffrench away from in-state programs like Florida and Florida State. The Tide may also have to fend off his brother’s alma-mater, Pittsburgh.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Jaime Ffrench’s recruiting profile.

Sooners offer 2025 cornerback prospect Zadian Gentry

Looking to add to their defensive backfield, the Oklahoma Sooners target Zadian Gentry out of McKinney, Texas.

As the Sooners look to build to the future, Oklahoma issued an offer to 2025 cornerback prospect Zadian Gentry.

Out of McKinney, Texas, the sophomore cornerback stands 6-foot-1 and is 165 pounds. In addition to the Oklahoma offer, Gentry’s picked up offers from Texas Tech, Arkansas, Baylor, and Auburn in the last month.

As part of the 2025 class, Gentry’s recruitment is just heating up and more offers will be on the way for the talented cornerback prospect.

Gentry is sticky in coverage, utilizing both press and bail techniques. He does a good job staying in phase with the wide receiver and displays good catch-up speed in trail techniques. He’s a physical player at the point of attack in the run and wide receiver screen game. He plays physically at the catch point and contests every target that comes his way.
