Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wonderfully belted out a song together at the US Open men’s final

Excellent use of air guitar.

The stars always come out for the U.S. Open in Queens, New York, and this year was no different as pop singer Taylor Swift and her NFL beau Travis Kelce made an appearance on Sunday afternoon. The duo took in the men’s final between Taylor Fritz and Jannik Sinner, capping off a big weekend in the city.

During one of the breaks, Swift and Kelce let loose, singing along to “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” by The Darkness. The 14-time Grammy winner sang the lyric, “I want to kiss you every minute, every hour, every day” to her boyfriend of just over a year, and the pair belted out the chorus together.

Some pretty good air guitar was also deployed.

Fans were convinced Travis Kelce was watching NFL on his phone while at the US Open with Taylor Swift

We’ve all been there.

Sunday was the first full day of NFL action for the 2024-25 season, and Kansas City tight end had to get creative to watch games. Travis Kelce and the Chiefs kicked off their season on Thursday night with a win over the Baltimore Ravens, but the back-to-back Super Bowl champion had other plans than to spend his Sunday on the couch watching Red Zone.

Kelce and superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift made the trip to Queens to take in the men’s final of the U.S. Open between Taylor Fritz and Jannik Sinner, putting on their literal Sunday best for the afternoon. Fans think Kelce still managed to get his fix of football, however, even in the box at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center.

Pictures of Kelce in the crowd showed a phone propped up against a glass, leading folks to guess there may have been some streaming happening.

Some even joked about reactions to specific games, even if there’s no real way to confirm.

NFL stars, they’re just like us. Streaming games in public.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce looked so fashionable walking into the US Open men’s final

The superstar duo continued their magical NYC weekend.

The magical weekend of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce continued on Sunday afternoon as the superstar couple attended the men’s final of the U.S. Open in New York. The duo rolled up to the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Queens in style, with the 14-time Grammy winner wearing a sundress and the Kansas City tight end in a sweater-shorts combo with a Gucci bucket hat.

American Taylor Fritz was competing against Italian Jannik Sinner in the highly contested major final, and Swift and Kelce cozied up in a box alongside teammate Patrick Mahomes.

Swift and Kelce have spent the weekend in New York after she was in attendance for the Chiefs’ season-opening win in KC on Thursday night. On Friday, the couple went out for dinner in Brooklyn at Lucali.

On Saturday night, the lovebirds attended a friend’s wedding at Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village.

That’s how you do a weekend in the city.

And some of you may naturally be wondering who that supportive girlfriend is. So for those unaware, allow us to introduce you.

Her name is Ayan Broomfield, and she and Tiafoe have been an item for quite awhile. According to The Spun, they started dating in 2015 and the couple have been “Instagram official” since 2018.

But that’s not the only reason Broomfield is familiar to tennis people. Born in Canada, the 27-year-old was a player herself, making her WTA Tour debut in 2014. In college, she was the 2015-16 ACC Freshman of the Year at Clemson, and she won the 2019 NCAA Div. I women’s doubles championship at UCLA. Broomfield was a body double for the actress portraying Venus Williams in 2021’s King Richard.

Today, she’s a content creator and influencer, and she recently launched the Ayan Broomfield Foundation, as discussed in a March interview with Vogue.

The next time fans can expect to see Broomfield cheer on Tiafoe is Sunday evening for his Round 4 US Open match against Alexei Popyrin.

Tennis star Ben Shelton had a silly excuse to dislike the Challengers movie but liked its popularity

The young tennis star didn’t understand the plot of the Zendaya tennis movie.

As one of the top young American tennis players in the world, it was fascinating to hear what Ben Shelton thought of Challengers (2024).

The 21-year-old tennis star, who currently holds the No. 13 men’s singles ranking, was asked to share his opinion on the popular sports film starring Zendaya that was released earlier this year.

Shelton told Interview Magazine that although he had seen the movie, he “wasn’t the biggest fan” of it. He admitted that while they did a “great job” with the tennis sequences, the plot didn’t really work for him.

Warning: Some potential spoilers for this movie are mentioned.

According to Shelton, it looked realistic when the ball was moving.

But he said that he struggled to “understand” the plot of the film. For example, was Zendaya’s character actually in a love triangle with the two guys?

Meanwhile, he also had some trouble with the ending. Without giving away too many spoilers, Shelton struggled with who won the final match between the two male leads. He wondered why they embraced instead of depicting an actual winner.

Despite these complaints, though, he was still happy that “a lot of people liked it” likely because it gave increased attention to his sport.

Shelton is currently competing in the US Open in New York City.

Rory McIlroy broke his silence about the stunning collapse at the U.S. Open

You know it’s serious when the Notes app is involved.

Rory McIlroy has taken some disappointing defeats in majors over the past 10 years, but nothing has topped his two-stroke collapse late in Sunday’s U.S. Open.

McIlroy bogeyed three of the final four holes and didn’t stick around to congratulate Bryson DeChambeau on his win or speak to the media at Pinehurst. Given how emotional that kind of defeat must have been, his quick exit was understandable — albeit surprising.

Yet, with a day to reflect on the loss, McIlroy has finally spoken about his defeat and offered a public congratulations to DeChambeau.

In a statement on Twitter/X (in a screenshot from his Notes app), McIlroy said that Sunday’s defeat was probably the toughest of his pro career. He added that he was going to take a break from golf for the next few weeks.

That means that McIlroy won’t be competing at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut this weekend (along with the Rocket Mortgage Classic and John Deere Classic). He plans to make his return for the Scottish Open and compete at The Open Championship in July.

While McIlroy didn’t mention his hasty exit from the course, fans did appreciate that the four-time major champion spoke out about the rough afternoon.

Golf fans loved Bryson DeChambeau’s classy response to Rory McIlroy’s collapse at the U.S. Open

Bryson’s public turnaround remains remarkable. Pure class.

The contrast of emotions couldn’t have been wider after Sunday’s final round of the U.S. Open. Rory McIlroy — in search of his first major title in 10 years — saw his two-stroke lead slip away late in the round. Bryson DeChambeau took advantage and secured his second U.S. Open win with a fired-up celebration at Pinehurst.

The difference was real, but DeChambeau knew exactly how Rory was feeling on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters after his U.S. Open win, DeChambeau was asked about how he empathizes with Rory after benefitting from the stunning collapse. DeChambeau — who joined the Saudi-funded LIV Golf in 2022 despite heavy criticism by McIlroy — offered kind words to the four-time major champion.

DeChambeau said:

“Yeah. Rory’s one of the best to ever play. To be able to fight against a great like that is pretty special. For him to miss that putt, I never wish it on anybody. It just happened to play out that way. He’ll win multiple more major championships — there’s no doubt. I think that fire in him is going to continue to grow. And I have nothing but respect for how he plays the game of golf because, to be honest, when he was climbing up the leaderboard and he was two ahead, I was like, ‘Uhhh. Uh oh.’ But luckily, things went my way today.”

McIlroy was spotted leaving Pinehurst immediately after DeChambeau’s win. So, we didn’t get to see the two golfers greet each other. But golf fans certainly appreciated the classy post-match remarks from DeChambeau.

Rory McIlroy made the quickest exit from Pinehurst after his brutal collapse at the U.S. Open

Rory didn’t want to speak to the media about the loss.

For all the early triumphs of Rory McIlroy’s career, there have been some devastating lows in his 10-year wait for a fifth major title. But Sunday’s final round of the U.S. Open might have been the lowest of them all for Rory.

Heading to the 15th hole, McIlroy had built a two-stoke lead on Bryson DeChambeau and looked poised to win his first major since 2014. But then everything seemingly went wrong for McIlroy. He ended with three bogeys in the final four holes and missed two putts for par from inside five feet. Those misses ultimately put DeChambeau in position to win with his par on 18.

As he watched on from where he signed his scorecard, Rory had no interest in waiting around once his collapse was officially complete.

Within minutes of DeChambeau’s clinching putt, McIlroy was already in his courtesy vehicle and departing Pinehurst.

Video showed McIlroy taking off in the Lexus SUV and screeching his tires as he exited the course grounds. As the second-place finisher, McIlroy would have been expected to fulfill his media and broadcast obligations. But given the circumstance, he just wanted to get out of there.

Fans had thoughts on McIlroy’s hasty departure, though.

Jena Sims did the perfect spin on the Man in Finance TikTok meme with Brooks Koepka at the U.S. Open

She’s looking for a man in tight pants.

Have you seen the viral “I’m looking for a man in finance” TikTok meme in which singer Megan Boni (@girl_on_couch) threw out some lyrics in the hopes it would become viral?

You know the ones: “I’m looking for a man in finance, trust fund, 6-5, blue eyes.”

Well, Jena Sims decided to dive in while watching husband Brooks Koepka play the first round at the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst, using footage of him playing with the possible Song of the Summer, only the captions mentioned: “Tight pants, fairways, short game, insane.”

This gets a 10 out of 10 from me, no notes. Well done.

Golf fans clown Scottie Scheffler for his U.S. Open haircut thanks to a glorious hat tan

Golf tans are no joke.

Hey, listen: the tan lines you get from playing golf are no joke. Just ask Jon Rahm or the countless others who have shown off serious golf tans.

The latest? That would be world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who showed up at the 2024 U.S. Open with a fresh new haircut that looked pretty darn good.

The only thing was, a lot of folks noticed the tan lines — see the photo above and the ones below — that said haircut revealed, which was very funny. So golf fans everywhere had jokes about it, although it might be Scheffler laughing last if he ends up winning yet another major with these tan lines:
