2024 NFL Draft order: Raiders will pick 13 overall

Raiders will pick 13 overall in the draft

Coming into today, the Raiders draft range was anywhere between 8 and 14. By game time, it had only narrowed slightly to 9-14. But if the Raiders won, their highest possible position was 11th.

They would beat the Broncos to finish 8-9 on the season, putting them only one slot better than their worst case scenario coming into the day. Not that anyone in the Raiders locker room or any fan in the stadium cares about such things.

Their position at 13 puts them in a complete tie with the Broncos in record as well as strength of schedule (.488). But winning the head-to-head puts the Broncos at 12 and the Raiders at 13.

Here is the full top of the draft per tankathon.com

1. Bears (via CAR)
2. Commanders
3. Patriots
4. Cardinals
5. Chargers
6. Giants
7. Titans
8. Falcons
9. Bears
10. Jets
11. Vikings
12. Broncos
13. Raiders
14. Saints
15. Colts
16. Seahawks
17. Jaguars
18. Bengals

Obviously the Raiders will be looking for a quarterback in this draft. The top three — Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels — could be gone in the first few picks, so if they want one of them, they’d have to trade up to get one.

Broncos will select 12th overall in 2024 NFL draft

The Broncos hold the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. Here’s a look at the current order of the first round ahead of the playoffs.

After finishing the 2023 season with an 8-9 record, the Denver Broncos are now set to select 12th overall in the 2024 NFL draft in April.

This marks the first time in three years that Denver will make a first-round pick in the draft. The team sat out the first round in 2022 and 2023 after trading picks to acquire quarterback Russell Wilson.

Before that, the team’s five most recent first-round picks were cornerback Pat Surtain at No. 9 overall (2021), wide receiver Jerry Jeudy at No. 15 overall (2020), tight end Noah Fant at No. 20 overall (2019), pass rusher Bradley Chubb at No. 5 overall (2018) and left tackle Garett Bolles at No. 20 overall (2017).

Here’s a look at the team’s current picks for 2024:

Round 1: own pick (12th overall)
Round 3: via NO (Sean Payton trade)
Round 4: via MIA (Bradley Chubb trade)
Round 5: own pick
Round 5: via NYJ (Jake Marin trade)
Round 6: via SF (Randy Gregory trade)

Raiders Week 18 draft position rooting guide

Raiders Week 18 draft position rooting guide

The only tangible thing that is at stake for the Raiders in their season finale against the Broncos is draft position. Yeah, there’s pride and bragging rights, yada yada yada, but that’s about it. So, let’s just set that aside for now as I don’t expect any Raiders fan to actively root for their team to lose just to improve their draft position.

Currently their range is 8-14. Which is to say, should they lose, they could draft as high as 8th and should they win they could draft as low at 14th.

By the time the Raiders game goes final, we should know the results of all the other games. And due to the different scenarios, the preferred results can flip entirely.

So, in the interest of covering our bases here, let’s look at the best case scenarios either way.

All times are Pacific

With a Raiders win

10am Saints (8-8) over Falcons (7-9)

Hard to say if the Saints are for real. They’ve won three of their last four, including a big win over the Buccaneers. Then again the other two wins were over terrible Panthers and Giants teams. Both these teams are still fighting for a shot at the playoffs, so expect them to leave it all on the field.

10am Vikings (7-9) over Lions (11-5)

This one seems like a fat chance situation. The Vikings are in a nosedive, losing five of their last six and are facing a Lions team still holding out hope of grabbing the two seed.

1:25pm Packers (8-8) over Bears (7-9)

The Packers have won two straight, but both wins were against bad Panthers and Vikings teams.

Best case scenario: 11th overall. 12th if the Vikings lose.

With a Raiders loss

10am NYJets (6-10) over Patriots (4-12)

The Jets have a good chance of beating the Patriots.

10am Falcons (7-9) over Saints (8-8)

Yes, the preferred result for this game flips if the Raiders end up losing. The Falcons have proven capable of beating the Saints as they have beaten them already this season.

1:25pm Bears (7-9) over Packers (8-8)

Once again, if the Raiders lose, they would be better off with the opposite result. The Bears have won two straight games and four of their last five, including a win over the Lions.

Best case scenario: 8th overall pick.

2024 NFL Draft order: Raiders in line for 11th pick after Week 17

2024 NFL Draft order: Raiders in line for 11th pick after Week 17

Just one week left in the NFL season. And with the Raiders officially eliminated from playoff contention, the discussion now shifts to draft position.

As long as the playoffs were a possibility, any pick as far down as 32nd overall was on the table. All non-playoff teams will pick at 18 or above.

For the Raiders, the pick range is higher than that.

Currently they site at 11th overall in the draft order. Their final position is within the range of picks 8-14.

Here is what the top 14 in the draft order currently looks like:

1. Bears (via CAR) 2-14
2. Commanders 4-12
3. Patriots 4-12
4. Cardinals 4-12
5. Giants 5-11
6. Chargers 5-11
7. Titans 5-11
8. Jets 6-10
9. Falcons 7-9
10. Bears 7-9
11. Raiders 7-9
12. Vikings 7-9
13. Saints 8-8
14. Broncos 8-8

Should the Raiders beat the Broncos in the season finale, the Raiders would drop to the 14th pick, behind their division rivals.

In order for the Raiders to move up to the 8th spot, they would have to lose to the Broncos while the Falcons and Bears would have to win.

NFL Draft order: Raiders fall to 12th following Week 15

NFL Draft order: Raiders fall to 12th following Week 15

Most fans would probably say ‘draft order be damned, I’d rather see my team win.’ And fair enough, but just for the sake of tracking these things, the Raiders’ big win on Thursday Night has caused them to tumble in the draft order.

Six days ago, the Raiders were sitting at sixth in the draft order. Today? 12th. Quite a drop in a single week.

That’s because there is a large group of teams that are currently between 5-9 — where the Chargers now sit — and 6-8 — where the Raiders now sit.

Currently, there are nine teams with either five or six wins on the season, starting at the fifth overall pick and ending at the 13th overall pick. That’s a lot of draft positions separated by one game.

Here is what that top 13 looks like according to Tankathon.com:

1. Bears (vis CAR) 2-12
2. Patriots 3-11
3. Cardinals 3-11
4. Commanders 4-10
5. Bears 5-9
6. Jets 5-9
7. Giants 5-9
8. Chargers 5-9
9. Titans 6-8
10. Falcons 6-8
11. Packers 6-8
12. Raiders 6-8
13. Seahawks 6-7

You might notice that the Seahawks have only seven losses. That’s because they play the Eagles on Monday Night. The thing is, though, that even if they lose that game — as they are expected to do — their strength of schedule would keep them right where they’re at.

A lot could happen in the final three games. The only thing that is certain now is the Raiders are mathematically out of the number one overall pick. Everything else is possible at this moment — from the second overall pick to the playoffs — even if unlikely.

The Raiders final three games are against the Chiefs (9-5), Colts (8-6), and Broncos (7-7).

Raiders move up to 6th position in NFL Draft order after Week 14

Raiders move up to 6th position in NFL Draft order after Week 14

If you’re a Raiders fan and you are looking ahead to the 2024 NFL Draft already, then Monday night was a big night. Two teams came into the night just ahead of the Raiders in the draft order and both of them won, thus moving the Raiders up two spots in the current draft order to sixth overall.

Here is what the current top ten draft order looks like according to Tankathon.com:

1. Bears (via CAR) 1-12
2. Patriots 3-10
3. Cardinals 3-10
4. Commanders 4-9
5. Bears 5-8
6. Raiders 5-8
7. Jets 5-8
8. Giants 5-8
9. Titans 5-8
10. Chargers 5-8

Technically speaking the Raiders are currently still in reach of the number one overall pick. They are four games back of the Panthers with four games left, which means the Panthers would have to win out and the Raiders would have to lose out. While the latter is certainly possible, the former would be highly unlikely.

Somewhat more possible would be a top three pick. Though with the final five teams in the top ten all having 5-8 records, there’s a lot of moving around that will happen before the end of the season.

Updated 2024 NFL draft order: Falcons climb higher heading into Week 12

Despite having the week off, the Atlanta Falcons continue to move up in the 2024 NFL draft order. In Week 11, the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans all lost.

Meanwhile, the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers each got back on the winning track. Here’s a look at the updated 2024 draft order as we head into Week 12.

2024 NFL draft order: Broncos fall out of top 12 after win

The Broncos fell from 9th to 13th overall in the 2024 NFL draft order after Monday’s win over the Bills.

Following a thrilling 24-22 win over the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football in Week 10, the Denver Broncos continue to slide in the 2024 NFL draft order.

One week ago, the Broncos were still in position to select ninth overall in next year’s draft. After an upset win over the Bills, Denver is now outside the top 12 picks.

If the 2023 season ended today, the Broncos would be set to pick 13th overall in the 2024 NFL draft. Here’s a look at the current order of the top 13 picks, courtesy of Tankathon.com.

1. Chicago Bears (via Carolina Panthers, 1-8)
2. New York Giants (2-8)
3. New England Patriots (2-8)
4. Arizona Cardinals (2-8)
5. Chicago Bears (3-7)
6. Green Bay Packers (3-6)
7. Los Angeles Rams (3-6)
8. Tennessee Titans (3-6)
9. Atlanta Falcons (4-6)
10. Washington Commanders (4-6)
11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-5)
12. New York Jets (4-5)
13. Denver Broncos (4-5)

Denver is set to play the Minnesota Vikings (6-4), Cleveland Browns (6-3), Houston Texans (5-4), Los Angeles Chargers (4-5), Detroit Lions (7-2), New England Patriots (2-8) and Las Vegas Raiders (5-5) to close out the 2023 season.

The 2024 NFL draft will be held in Detroit from April 25-27. The Broncos currently hold six picks to use in next year’s draft.
