MSU has landed a commitment from a Tennessee 3-star DB who is teammates with a current Spartan commit:

Despite trying times in the Michigan State football program, the Spartans coaching staff was able to pick up a new commitment in the 2024 recruiting class on Wednesday. MSU has gained the commitment of Keshawn Williams, a 6-foot-1, 180 pound defensive back from Tennessee.

Attending Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Williams is the teammate and friend of current Michigan State commit Jaylen Thompson. He holds a mid 3-star ranking from On3, but has yet to be ranked by 247Sports or Rivals.

New York DB Syair Torrence commits to Michigan State football

MSU has picked up their second commitment of the weekend, this time flipping Syair Torrence from his hometown school Syracuse

Michigan State has officially picked up their second commitment of the weekend, picking up a pledge from New York defensive back Syair Torrence. Torrence was originally committed to his hometown school, Syracuse, but MSU’s new cornerbacks coach Jim Salgado was able to earn his first recruiting win on the trail by flipping the defensive back into the green and white.

Torrence, a native of Syracuse, New York, attends Christian Brothers Academy. He is ranked as a 3-star prospect and the No. 658 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class, as well as the No. 5 player in the state of New York.

While flipping him from Syracuse, the Spartans beat out pushes from Boston College, Pitt and Rutgers for Torrence’s commitment.

Torrence joins Jaylen Thompson, AJ Dennis, Logan Bennett, Reggie Powers, Camren Campbell and Anthony Carrie in Michigan State’s 2024 recruiting class.

2024 QB takes second visit to Michigan State football

MSU’s top 2024 QB target took a second visit to East Lansing this month:

Henry Hasselbeck is a top target at the quarterback position for Michigan State offensive coordinator and QBs coach Jay Johnson. Hasselbeck and MSU’s relationship is developing rather quickly, and it may payoff for the Spartans play caller.

In a recent interview with Spartans Wire, Hasselbeck revealed he took a second visit to MSU this month.

We returned to MSU this Monday-Tuesday to get another look at Michigan State. We returned this time so my mom could see East Lansing and meet the staff.

It seems as if MSU is closing in on its 2024 quarterback.

2024 QB Henry Hasselbeck breaks down recruitment, talks MSU

Michigan State offensive coordinator Jay Johnson has yet to land a quarterback for the 2024 recruiting class, but there is one prospect that seems to have the full attention of the Spartans offensive leader.

Henry Hasselbeck, the son of NFL all-pro Matt Hasselbeck, has already made an official visit to Michigan State this summer and looks to be the top target on Johnson’s big board.

Hasselbeck is a three-star from Westwood, Massachusetts, who attends Xaverian Brothers High School. He holds offers from Arizona, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Pitt and UAB, among others. He is committed to play lacrosse at the University of Maryland.

Hasselbeck gave an update to Spartans Wire about where his recruitment stands as the month of June winds down:

Michigan State football lands commitment from 2024 4-star safety Reggie Powers

BREAKING: MSU has landed the commitment of 4-star Ohio safety Reggie Powers

Michigan State is adding to its 2024 recruiting class, earning its first commitment as a result of June’s official visits: four-star Ohio safety Reggie Powers.

Powers is a native of Dayton, Ohio, attending Centerville High School. He stands 6 feet, 1 inch and weighs 195 pounds. According to On3, Powers ranks as a four-star prospect and the No. 33 safety in the class, while 247Sports has him ranked as a high three-star.

The Spartans won this recruiting battle over Ohio State, Northwestern, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati.

Powers visited East Lansing this past weekend. As a result of an outstanding visit, he cancelled official visits to home state schools Ohio State and Cincinnati.

Resetting Michigan State football’s 2024 QB recruiting board

Michigan State has done a full reset to its 2024 QB recruiting board, check out who the Spartans are going to target:

Michigan State is looking to build momentum on the recruiting trail for 2024. Currently, the Spartans only hold two commitments, both in the defensive backfield. As summer approaches, the MSU coaching staff will continue to build the class.

The QB position has been a roller coaster so far in the 2024 cycle for MSU. In the last edition of resetting MSU’s 2024 QB board, we had five quarterbacks on the list; only one holdover is on this list.

That problem stemmed from the staff not pursuing Davi Belfort’s commitment, allowing him to choose Virginia Tech, losing highly touted four-star Jake Merklinger to Tennessee and Daniel Kaelin choosing Missouri before visiting East Lansing.

Now, OC Jay Johnson is left resetting his QB board, and we have some clarity on what it looks like:

Michigan State football getting visit from 2024 QB Ethan Grunkemeyer

A QB in the 2024 recruiting class will be visiting MSU this weekend:

Michigan State has yet to land a quarterback in its 2024 recruiting class, but that hasn’t stopped the recruiting board from evolving. MSU offensive coordinator Jay Johnson has hit a home run in back to back years landing Katin Houser and Sam Leavitt in 2022 and 2023.

With the anticipation of top target Jake Merklinger committing to Tennessee later this week, the Spartans are set to shift their focus to other QB prospects.

One of those QB prospects is Ethan Grunkemeyer, a 3-star prospect from Lewis Center, Ohio. He plans to visit Michigan State this weekend:
