Vikings opponents for the 2023 season are set

The Vikings’ opponents for the 2023 season are set

While the schedule for 2023 won’t be officially released until after the NFL draft at the end of April, we know who the opponents are for each team.

Now that the Vikings have played their entire schedule and the only two teams left to play are division rival Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions, their opponents are set in stone.

The Minnesota Vikings will be playing a first place schedule so they will be playing the division winners from the NFC West champion San Francisco 49ers, NFC East champion Philadelphia Eagles and AFC North champion Cincinnati Bengals.

They will also be playing the full divisions of both the NFC South and the AFC West, which will bring superstar Patrick Mahomes to U.S. Bank Stadium for the first time and potentially Tom Brady for the first time since he lost Super Bowl 52 to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Due to the NFL’s new scheduling format, the Vikings will be playing nine road games next season, a reverse of the nine home games they played this season.

Colts’ 2023 opponents officially set

Here are the 2023 opponents the Colts will face.

The Indianapolis Colts concluded the 2022 season Sunday with a divisional loss against the Houston Texans, missing out on the playoffs for the sixth time in the last eight seasons.

While we will be taking a look at the offseason moving forward, we now know who the Colts will be playing during the 2023 season. The schedule won’t be released until the spring, but we know who the opponents are.

The Colts will play their typical six games in the division, both home and away. They also will play the entire NFC South and AFC North divisions, comprising of eight total games. The three remaining games will come against the third-place teams in the AFC East, AFC West and NFC West.

The outcomes of the afternoon games for the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams will be updated when they’re concluded. Whichever team finishes in third place is who the Colts will play.

Here’s a look at the 2023 opponents for the Colts:

Jaguars opponents for 2023 schedule set

The Jaguars will play a first-place schedule next year.

The Jacksonville Jaguars secured the AFC South title Saturday night and are now set to host a playoff game next weekend.

While all eyes are still firmly on the Jaguars in the present, the win also made the team’s list of 2023 opponents official:

Home games

  • Houston Texans
  • Indianapolis Colts
  • Tennessee Titans
  • Baltimore Ravens
  • Cincinnati Bengals
  • Atlanta Falcons
  • Carolina Panthers
  • Kansas City Chiefs
  • San Francisco 49ers

Away games

  • Houston Texans
  • Indianapolis Colts
  • Tennessee Titans
  • Cleveland Browns
  • New Orleans Saints
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Buffalo Bills

Matchups against AFC South opponents are a given, and the schedule rotation calls for the Jaguars to meet the AFC North and NFC South in 2023.

By locking up the division title, the Jaguars are set to meet the champions of the AFC West, NFC West, and AFC East. While Jacksonville needed Week 18 to secure their title, those three divisions were already clinched by the Chiefs, 49ers and Bills.

It looks likely to be a difficult road for the Jaguars in 2023, but it’s never easy to be the king.

Bears’ known opponents for 2023 season so far

We won’t know the final list of Bears 2023 opponents until the end of the season. But here’s a look at the opponents already locked in:

With just four games left this season (and Chicago sitting at 3-10), we’re taking a look ahead at the 2023 season. Specifically, who the Bears will face.

We know all but three of the Bears’ upcoming opponents in 2023. Chicago will play the NFC South and AFC West next season, as well as their NFC North foes twice. The three unknown opponents will be same-place finishers in the NFC East, NFC West and AFC North.

The Bears are sitting in fourth place in the NFC North, which means those games would currently be against the Commanders, Rams and Steelers, who are all in last place in their respective divisions.

We won’t know the finalized list of Chicago’s opponents until the end of the 2022 season. But here’s a look at the opponents already locked in for 2023.

What could Oklahoma’s 2023 and 2024 schedules look like in an expanded Big 12?

What could schedules in 2023 and 2024 look like for the Oklahoma Sooners in an expanded Big 12?

On Tuesday at Big 12 media days, Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark reiterated that Oklahoma and Texas would remain in the conference for the next two years before making the jump to the SEC in the fall of 2025 after the current grant of rights agreement expires.

According to Yormark, Oklahoma and Texas have committed to Yormark that they’ll be present for the 2023 season when the Big 12 welcomes in new members BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF. The new 14-team conference won’t have divisions. Instead, the two teams with the best record will meet for the Big 12 championship game.

So what could the schedules look like for Oklahoma over the next two years in Big 12 play? As we attempted to work through what a potential schedule could look like, we wanted to make sure a few things landed.

Oklahoma needs to play Texas (because, of course) and Oklahoma State twice. After 2024, we have no clue when Bedlam will be replayed. So the Big 12 will want to make sure that game happens while it can.

Here are a few other scheduling “rules” we came up with for both Oklahoma and Texas that honors historical and regional matchups before the Sooners and Longhorns leave for the SEC.

  • Oklahoma would play Texas twice and former Big 8 conference mates Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Kansas, and Iowa State in home-and-home contests over the next two years.
  • Oklahoma would play two of the four current Big 12 schools (Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, and West Virginia) in 2023 and the other two in 2024.
  • Oklahoma would play two of the four new members (BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, UCF) in 2023 and the other two in 2024.
  • Texas would play Oklahoma twice and home-and-home series against Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, and West Virginia over the next two seasons.
  • Texas would play two of the four remaining Big 12 schools (Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State) in 2023 and the other two in 2024
  • Texas would play two of the four new members (BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, UCF) in 2023 and the other two in 2024.
  • Oklahoma and Texas would split home games with the new members. OU would play Cincinnati and Houston at home, while Texas would play UCF and BYU at home.

In this format, half of the current Big 12 would get home-and-homes with Oklahoma, and half would get home-and-homes with Texas. Oklahoma and Texas would play everyone at least once, and schools that don’t get home games against Oklahoma would get home dates against Texas and vice versa.

So with that groundwork laid, let’s take a look at what schedules could look like for Oklahoma in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Oklahoma has yet to fill their final nonconference game for the 2024 season, but we left an open week for Joe Castiglione to work with.

Auburn releases 2023 football schedule

The Tigers won’t wait as long next year to play a Power 5 opponent.

The Tigers have their opponents set for 2023.

Auburn, along with the rest of the Southeastern Conference, revealed its 2023 schedule during an SEC Network special on Tuesday night. The reveal showcased exactly when and where Auburn would play its opponents. The Tigers will kick off the year with three non-conference opponents, much like this year, before beginning its SEC stretch in Week 4.

Auburn won’t wait as long to play a Power 5 opponent this time around, scheduling UMass in Week 1 before playing the PAC-12’s Cal in Week 2. A gimmie game with Samford will be the final tune-up for the Tigers before Week 4 sees them play Texas A&M, which starts a bit of a brutal stretch for the Tigers — Auburn will play Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss and Mississippi State for its next four games.

What should be an easy one against Vanderbilt follows in Week 10 with an Arkansas showdown in Week 11 kicks off the next stretch, and Auburn will get a game to cool off against New Mexico State before playing the Iron Bowk against Alabama in Week 13 as it always does.

The Tigers will take its bye week in Week 6 of next year, and the mid-season bye should help them get properly rested for the games ahead.

Diamond Hogs open 2023 season at Globe Life Field

Arkansas Baseball releases the 2023 schedule, opening the season at Globe Life Field

The Diamond Hogs released their 54-game schedule Wednesday afternoon. Arkansas will take on 11 schools that were previously in the NCAA Tournament, three of which advanced to the College World Series.

The Diamond Hogs posted a 46-21 record last year, also punching a ticket to the College Baseball World Series in Omaha, looking to repeat the magic.

The 2023 season will start in February at the College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington Texas, home of the Texas Rangers. The three-day series is scheduled for February 17-19.

Their opponent has not been announced but SEC members Missouri and Vanderbilt will also partake in the Showdown, with Oklahoma State, Texas, and TCU representing the Big 12.

The Diamond Hogs also will play at MLB minor league stadium Dickey-Stephens Park in Little Rock.

Arkansas’ schedule includes a 19-game homestand and 10 conference series. The homestand is the longest since 1982 when the Diamond Hogs were coached Norm DeBriyn, who managed the program for 32-years before Dave Van Horn took over.
