2023 NFL power rankings: Bengals, 49ers upper crust in way too early post Super Bowl list

The Cincinnati Bengals and the San Francisco 49ers are among the top teams in the Touchdown Wire post Super Bowl NFL power rankings.

The Super Bowl is over. For some, the end represents a new beginning.

With the Kansas City Chiefs beating the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII, teams can officially turn the page and look to next year as they vie to hoist the Lombardi Trophy a year from now.

Some teams still have a ways to go. Their front offices and coaches will never say it, but they are rebuilding and it may take a season or two.

Other teams are in the hunt. Can they make the right moves in the offseason to be in the conversation with the Chiefs and Eagles?

Few teams are already there.

Here is a look at the post Super Bowl power rankings.

Raiders road opponents to play in London and Germany in 2023

Could Raiders play in London or Germany this season? They sure could.

It’s been a few years now since the Raiders last played an international game. The last time was 2019 when they were still in Oakland.

Back then the Raiders would regularly play one of their home games either in London or Mexico; something that has not happened since moving into Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

It may be a couple years at least before the Raiders are again asked to host a playoff game overseas. But they are very much in play as a visiting team.

Today the NFL announced five teams that will be the host squad overseas.

Buffalo Bills — London (Tottenham Hotspur)
Tennessee Titans — London (Tottenham Hotspur)
Jacksonville Jaguars — London (Wembley)
Kansas City Chiefs — Germany (TBD)
New England Patriots — Germany (TBD)

The opponents for these teams has not yet been announced.

The Raiders will face both the Bills and Chiefs on the road this season, which means it’s possible the Raiders could be headed to either London or Germany this season.

If it was the Bills, it would be a return trip to Tottenham Hotspur as the Raiders played in the first ever NFL game at the stadium in 2019.

As unwise as it would seem to take a Raiders game away from Arrowhead, if the league decided to do it, it could be the second ever NFL game played in Germany after the Seahawks faced the Patriots in Munich last season.

NFL announces 2023 regular-season opponents for all teams

The NFL has announced 2023 regular-season opponents for all teams. Here’s a breakdown for each of the league’s 32 teams.

On Monday, the NFL announced opponents for all 32 teams in the 2023 schedule. Per the league, the formula for the schedule is as follows:

  • Home and away against its three division opponents (six games).
  • The four teams from another division within its conference on a rotating, three-year cycle (four games).
  • The four teams from a division in the other conference on a rotating, four-year cycle (four games).
  • Two intraconference games based on the prior year’s standings (two games). These games match a first-place team against the first-place teams in the two same-conference divisions the team is not scheduled to play that season. The second-place, third-place and fourth-place teams in a conference are matched in the same way each year.

One interconference game based on the prior year’s standings on a rotating four-year cycle (one game). These games match a first-place team from one division against a first-place team in an opposite-conference division that the team is not scheduled to play that season. The second-place, third-place and fourth-place teams in each division are matched in the same way each year. The home conference for this game will rotate each season, with the AFC teams hosting the game in 2023.

The scheduling formula implemented in 2002 with realignment guarantees that all teams play each other on a regular, rotating basis.

The 2023 schedule, with playing dates and times, will be announced in the spring.

Raiders 2023 opponents home and away revealed

We now know Raiders 2023 opponents home and away

Even with the 2022 season not over for many teams, we know who the Raiders will face next season both at home and away.

Here is what their opponents will look like next season:

Home

Denver Broncos
Kansas City Chiefs
Los Angeles Chargers
New England Patriots
New York Jets
Green Bay Packers
Minnesota Vikings
Pittsburgh Steelers
New York Giants

Away

Denver Broncos
Kansas City Chiefs
Los Angeles Chargers
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
Miami Dolphins
Indianapolis Colts
Buffalo Bills

Yes, they have nine home games vs eight away games. That’s because the two conferences rotate which has more home or away games and the AFC started with more away games in the 2022 season.

The questions that remain, of course, are exactly *when* they will play these games. And, there is also always the question as to if any of their games will be international. They haven’t played an international game since their 2019 trip to London.
