Which offensive linemen met with the Commanders at the 2023 NFL combine?

The Commanders were focused on the offensive line at the combine.

Another year of the NFL Scouting Combine has come and gone. And for the Washington Commanders, that meant meeting with as many prospects as possible.

Head coach Ron Rivera, general manager Martin Mayhew and others were in Indianapolis for the combine. While the Commanders met with several prospects at different positions, including one of the top quarterbacks in Florida’s Anthony Richardson, they clearly focused on one position in particular.

The Commanders met with several of the top offensive line prospects during the combine. While Washington likely met with several others, we track down its known meetings with some of the draft’s top offensive line prospects.

Commanders did meet with Florida QB Anthony Richardson at the NFL combine

Richardson revealed Monday Washington was one of several teams he met with at the combine.

The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine is in the books. Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson was one of the clear winners from combine weekend.

Richardson measured in at 6-foot-4 and 244 pounds while running the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds, the 10-yard split in 1.53 seconds and setting combine quarterback records in the vertical jump [40.5″] and broad jump [10’9″].

Before the combine, it was clear that Richardson was a bit of a hot topic among NFL evaluators. In 22 career college games, Richardson had a completion percentage of only 54.7%. That’s an alarming number for such a large sample size.

However, some believe Richardson’s issues are fixable and mostly relate to his mechanics. While that may be true, how many times has that been said about other quarterback prospects over the years?

Regardless, you can’t help but be excited about Richardson’s raw tools at the quarterback position. Even before the combine, it was doubtful that Richardson slipped outside the top 10. Someone was going to take a chance and he most likely wouldn’t have made it past the Carolina Panthers at No. 9.

Now, Richardson has a good chance to land somewhere in the top five with teams looking to move up and select him. That’s probably why so many NFL teams met with Richardson at the combine.

One of those teams was the Washington Commanders, as Richardson revealed Monday on the “Rich Eisen Show.”

Head coach Ron Rivera likely saw shades of his old quarterback, Cam Newton, in Richardson. This is likely a case of Washington doing its due diligence because Richardson will never make it to No. 16, where the Commanders select.

Christian Gonzalez named one of biggest winners of NFL Combine

Christian Gonzalez was as big of a winner as anyone at the 2023 NFL Combine this past week.

There were a lot of players at the 2023 NFL Combine who were able to take advantage of the opportunity and use it to boost their draft capital, but few were able to do as well as Oregon Ducks cornerback Christian Gonzalez.

Gonzalez, who was already projected to be a first-round pick heading into the combine, might have propelled himself up the board a bit based on his measurables and on-field performance.

With his 4.38 40-yard dash, 41.5-inch vertical, and 11-foot-1-inch broad jump, Gonzalez earned one of the highest draft grades among all defensive backs during the week, and he was named one of the biggest winners of the week. Here is what USA TODAY had to say about Gonzalez:

With Illinois’ Devon Witherspoon not testing or working out due a hamstring issue, Gonzalez made a strong bid to be the first cornerback selected. The 6-1, 197-pounder looked like the total package at the position, easily changing direction and snagging passes. As expected, he was a top-tier tester with a 4.38-second 40-yard dash, 41 ½-inch vertical leap and 11-1 broad jump.

We will likely get another chance to see Gonzalez perform on the field next week at Oregon’s Pro Day, but it’s going to be hard to improve his stock much more than he already has over the past week.

Eagles draft prospects: 10 players that impressed at the NFL scouting combine

We’re looking at 10 potential Philadelphia Eagles NFL draft targets that impressed the most at the 2023 scouting combine

The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine is a wrap, and while players improved their stock greatly, we’re looking at ten potential Eagles fits that impressed the most.

With Philadelphia potentially targeting a running back in April’s draft, names like Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Zach Charbonnet were on display.

On the defensive side of the football, Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, T.J. Edwards, Kyzir White, James Bradberry, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and Marcus Epps are all slated for free agency. It won’t be possible for the Eagles to bring them all back, especially once Jalen Hurts signs his new deal.

Philadelphia could look to draft a cornerback and safety with multiple free agents in the secondary.

Florida’s Anthony Richardson a winner at 2023 NFL Combine

Unsurprisingly, Anthony Richardson was a big winner this weekend.

The 2023 NFL scouting combine is now officially in the books after four days of workouts that gave departing collegiate players an opportunity to show off their talents and physique in front of all 32 National Football League scouts. This year’s combine saw seven former Florida Gators participate as the Orange and Blue sends yet another crop of athletes to the next level of play.

On Monday following the events, USA TODAY Sports’ Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz put together his list of winners and losers from over the weekend, with Gators star quarterback [autotag]Anthony Richardson[/autotag] taking the top spot of the winner’s bracket. Take a look at what Middlehurst-Schwartz had to offer on the ridiculously talented signal-caller.

Despite entering the combine with perhaps the biggest buzz of any prospect, Richardson somehow managed to amplify the hype that follows him. The 6-4, 244-pounder set combine records for a quarterback with his 40 ½-inch vertical leap and 10-9 broad jump. But the most stunning number was his 4.43-second 40-yard dash, the fourth-best number for a passer since 2003, with the others not coming close to Richardson in size. His throwing session reinforced his otherworldly arm strength as well as his still-spotty accuracy. While a combine workout can at best capture an infinitesimal sliver of the meaningful factors of being a productive quarterback, this much is clear: The NFL doesn’t have any other player comparable to Richardson, even at a time when his tools are in high demand.

Projected as a top-10 pick overall in the draft, Richardson will join cornerback [autotag]Kaiir Elam[/autotag] (2022, No. 23), tight end [autotag]Kyle Pitts[/autotag] (2021, No. 4), wide receiver [autotag]Kadarius Toney[/autotag] (2021, No. 20) and cornerback [autotag]CJ Henderson[/autotag] (2020, No. 9) among Gators recently taken in the first round.

The NFL draft is scheduled to be held in the plaza outside of Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri, on April 27–29. The first round takes place on Thursday starting at 8 p.m. EDT, with the second and third rounds on Friday starting at 7 p.m. EDT and the last four on Saturday starting at noon EDT. ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network will air all seven rounds of the 2023 NFL draft.

The 2023 NFL Combine is now behind us, and the six Oregon Ducks who were in attendance should feel pretty good about how things went.

At the top of the charts was cornerback Christian Gonzalez, a player who went into the combine as a projected first-round pick, but may have raised his draft stock to the point where it’s possible he’s taken inside the top 10. Players like DJ Johnson and Noah Sewell also performed well, while offensive linemen Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu and T.J. Bass held their own.

Alex Forsyth suffered a hamstring tweak at the combine, limiting him in most drills. However, he still came away with a solid combine grade, and will have a chance to put up some numbers at Oregon’s Pro Day on March 14.

Here are some of the best pictures of the Ducks at the combine.

The 2023 NFL scouting combine is complete and Alabama had more than its fair share of performers in Indianapolis.

Although star quarterback Bryce Young did not participate in the on-the-field drills, Young went through all of the media periods and took part in his official measurements.

Will Anderson Jr., Brian Branch, Jordan Battle, Henry To’oTo’o, and many others all put their skill sets on full display in front of NFL coaches and scouts from all around the league.

2023 NFL Combine results for former Gators offensive lineman O’Cyrus Torrence

Here’s how things panned out for O’Cyrus Torrence on Sunday.

The 2023 scouting combine is officially underway as 319 of the top collegiate football players gather at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, where they get their last big chance to make an even bigger impression on scouts from all 32 NFL franchises in attendance.

One of the participants this year who hails from the Orange and Blue is offensive lineman [autotag]O’Cyrus Torrence[/autotag], who followed head coach Billy Napier from the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns to Gainesville for his senior season. The 6-foot-5-inch, 330-pound lineman’s overall performance in the combine was solid even though he lagged in some of the physical drills, and as a result, he is projected to be a good starter within two years.

Here is a look at the final numbers from the NFL combine for former Gators offensive lineman O’Cyrus Torrence, including his overall grade and projection.

Commanders meet with a top RB prospect at NFL combine

Tyjae Spears would bring something different to Washington’s backfield.

Could the Washington Commanders consider drafting a running back in the 2023 NFL draft?

One of the draft’s top running back prospects, Tulane’s Tyjae Spears, met formally with the Commanders over the NFL combine weekend at the 2023 NFL combine.

Who is Spears?

The 5-foot-10, 201-pound running back had a breakout season for the Green Wave in 2022. Spears rushed for 1,581 yards, averaging 6.9 yards per attempt in 14 games. He also had 256 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Spears had a standout week at the Senior Bowl. Commanders Wire named Spears as a potential target for Washington at that time.

While the Commanders selected Brian Robinson Jr. in the third round last year, Antonio Gibson is entering the final year of his contract in 2023. Also, there is concern about the future of J.D. McKissic due to a neck injury.

Spears is a different type of back from Robinson and Gibson. He is also a home-run threat who could offer a dynamic presence in the passing game.

Whether it’s Spears or someone else, don’t be surprised if Washington adds another back in the middle rounds next month.

The 2023 NFL combine kicked off on Thursday, March 2, in Indianapolis, Indiana, where 319 of the top college prospects get one of their last chances to show off their talents in front of scouts from all 32 professional teams in the league ahead of the NFL draft at the end of April.

Among those taking part in the combine was offensive lineman [autotag]O’Cyrus Torrence[/autotag], who worked out on Sunday — the fourth and final day of the event.
