Are we watching the greatest Boston Celtics team in history?

Has this version of the Boston Celtics done enough to be considered the best Celtics team in history?

The Boston Celtics are the most storied franchise in NBA history. They lead the NBA with their 18 championship banners hanging from the rafters of the TD Garden. Right now, the current version of the Celtics is poised to become the latest dynasty in the NBA, assuming they can stay healthy and locked in.

Boston has enjoyed some of the most dominant teams in NBA history and some of the most iconic players. Bill Russell, Tommy Heinsohn, Larry Bird, John Havlicek, Bob Cousey, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, the list of all-time great Celtics is as long as it is impressive.

Nevertheless, a recent YouTube video by NESN postulated that we may be watching the greatest Celtics team in history due to its dominance, depth and the elite skillsets on offer up and down the roster. However, the current roster is likely a couple more championships away from being considered as the best Celtics team of all time.

You can watch the full reasoning for why this Celtics team could be the all-time best roster by clicking on the embedded video above.

Boston’s Sam Hauser on his, uh, unforgettable moment in the Celtics’ duck boat parade

You never want to be trending on social media because you just lost your lunch at a very public event, except in one very specific context.

You never want to be the guy who is trending on social media because you just lost your lunch at a very public event in front of everyone. But there does seem to be an exception to this rule — namely, you need to win a title and puke at your own parade for such a moment to shift from a faux pas to a thing to remember fondly.

And such was the case for champion Boston Celtics small forward Sam Hauser, who recently opened up about that viral clip of his infamous loss of lunch in the City of Boston’s duck boat parade for the Celtics winning Banner 18. “I didn’t drink all playoffs, and I really didn’t drink much throughout the season,” said Hauser in a recent interview with Chris Long of the “Green Light” podcast C/O SI’s Bobby Krivitsky. “Everybody starts chucking drinks at you, and you just want to put them back for the people.”

“Then I hit a cigar, and that got me all spinny,” he added. “And then shortly after that, it was puke time.”

“I didn’t have my phone on me all day, so I think my mom pulled it up, and I don’t know how many times she watched it, probably a good 20 to 25 times,” said Hauser.

“I remember doing it, and in the moment, people were cheering. It was a quick rally after it, so I was impressed with myself.”

Tyrese Halliburton: I knew I wouldn’t play vs. Boston Celtics after injury

Hali opened up about how he knew his hamstring injury would doom his team against the Celtics

One of the cool things about playing for the US National Team in the Olympics is that players who are normally trying to rip each other’s hearts out find themselves sudden, temporary teammates in the service of their country. And sometimes, some unique perspectives on past events end up coming to light in that process.

And that is exactly what happened when the Boston Celtics media got a hold of Indiana Pacers star point guard Tyrese Haliburton, who opened up about how he knew his hamstring injury would doom his team against the Celtics at a recent media availability session last week.

Our friends over at the “CLNS Media Boston Sports Network” YouTube channel managed to get it on video for your viewing pleasure — check it out below!

Miami’s Kevin Love has high praise for the Boston Celtics

“They have set the standard in the NBA,” said the Heat vet.

When it comes to playing the Boston Celtics in high leverage games, veteran Miami Heat big man Kevin Love knows more than most people do. But the longtime postseason Celtics foe has seen that opponent grow in strength over the years until it became the behemoth it is today.

Love opened up about his recent impressions of Boston in a chat with the Miami Herald’s Anthony Chiang. “They have set the standard in the NBA,” said the Heat vet of this most recent iteration of the Celtics. “They are that good. I think they are the proverbial North Star, if you will.”

“In order to get better, we all need to get better,” he added. “So I don’t know what that means from a decision-making standpoint in the front office, obviously.”

“But I think health played a major component,” added Love, hinting at Miami’s injury-plagued 2023-24 season.

“We don’t like to make those excuses. I know (Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra) would not be happy with me even speaking about it. But I do think it is a part of it.”

Who are biggest threat to the Boston Celtics in the East?

Which Eastern Conference teams could stand in the Boston Celtics way?

The Boston Celtics will be defending their NBA championship in the upcoming season. Multiple teams in the Eastern Conference have made offseason moves to improve their rosters and potentially close the gap on Joe Mazzulla’s team. Boston will face a difficult path back to the NBA Finals next season.

Suddenly, there are four or five teams that could emerge as a threat to the Celtics during the 2025 playoffs. However, each team has some legitimate question marks hanging over their heads. For example, the Philadelphia 76ers’ addition of Paul George makes them an elite roster, yet their ability to stay healthy will be the ultimate test of their championship credentials.

In a recent episode of “The Celtics Chronicle” podcast, the hosts break down the top five teams in the East before exploring the strengths and weaknesses of each team.

Boston Celtics get excellent grade for Jrue Holiday trade

Before the hindsight blasted them away, there was doubt soon after the trade in some corners.

The Boston Celtics got an excellent grade for the trade for then-Portland Trail Blazers veteran combo guard Jrue Holiday in a recent analysis put together by Bleacher Report NBA analyst Zach Buckley. The Celtics capitalized on the prior deal that had sent Holiday to the Blazers in the Milwaukee Bucks’ trade for vet guard Damian Lillard, bringing the UCLA alum to Boston to complete the roster that won the 2024 NBA Championship.

Given that context, it is easy to use hindsight to say that it was a no-brainer of a trade. But at the time, there were serious questions about how Holiday’s game would age, and more proximately, how he plays in the postseason.

“Holiday’s presence was hugely helpful in virtually all facets,” writes Buckley. “His defense was among the Association’s very best; he earned All-Defensive second-team honors and took sixth in the Defensive Player of the Year voting.”

“His offensive volume predictably decreased, but his efficiency climbed in his more compact role,” added the B/R analyst. “The Celtics won a record-setting 18th NBA championship, and they’re poised to potentially add to that count.”

“They’ve extended all the key members of this core, including Holiday, who signed a four-year, $135 million pact in April,” says Buckley. “Boston might be great for a while, and adding a puzzle-solver like Holiday is a quietly critical reason why.”

Final grade for Boston? An excellent A-.

Where are all the Boston Celtics haters now?

The main question on everyone’s mind now is not whether Boston can win it all, but if they can forge a dynasty.

Where are all the Boston Celtics haters now that the team has finally broken through and hung a banner in the City of Boston? With Banner 18 having been earned by the core of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown with an elite supporting cast around them, the main question on everyone’s mind now is not whether Boston can win it all.

Now, it is whether the Celtics can put together a dynasty as they did in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. A man who was present for the latter of the three Boston dynastic eras, former Celtics finals MVP Cedric Maxwell sat down with Josue Pavon, the cohost of his eponymous CLNS Media podcast, to talk it all over.

Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say.

Kevin Garnett weighs in on the start of a potential Boston Celtics dynasty

“When I saw Jayson Tatum in the moment he did his ‘We Did It,’ he looked like he got it,” said Garnett.

There have been odd criticisms of what star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum did when the camera turned to him moments after the Celtics finally broke through to win Banner 18. But the man perhaps best known for any such post-title comments sees the situation very differently.

We are of course talking about Hall of Fame Boston big man Kevin Garnett, whose famous “ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!” scream has been burned in the league’s collective consciousness. Speaking on a recent episode of his Showtime Basketball “KG Certified” podcast, The Big Ticket gave his take on Tatum’s crowning achievement, and how he saw it.

“When I saw Jayson Tatum in the moment he did his ‘We Did It,’ he looked like he got it,” said Garnett. “It’s the culmination of all of the stuff to get there.”

“Real (expletive), when … Tatum did the ‘We did it’ moment that to me felt like it all clicked for him,” added KG. “It was a rush of visualizing all of the trials and tribulations over the years to get to this point.”

“The C’s ain’t no microwave made team, this was a team that has been built and molded for years now. This is the process it takes to build championship DNA lord, and they’re just getting started.”
