Alabama vs. Clemson: Predictions and analysis

Alabama will take on Clemson at Coleman Coliseum on Tuesday night. Roll Tide Wire provides its analysis and prediction for the game!

The Alabama men’s basketball program will return to Coleman Coliseum on Tuesday after having spent last week in Destin, Florida competing in the Emerald Coast Classic.

The Crimson Tide will take on an undefeated, Clemson squad. The Tigers are led by seniors Joe Girard and PJ Hall. The two of them combine to average 33.8 points per game and shoot 37.7% from three-point range.

Alabama is led by a pair of seniors as well. Senior guards Mark Sears and Aaron Estrada have paved the way offensively for the Crimson Tide thus far. The duo has combined to average 37.3 points per game.

Alabama has seen better competition than the Tigers up to this point. The Tigers most impressive win came against UAB. The Blazers hold a 4-2 record. Alabama’s best win of the season came against a Oregon squad that is currently 4-2.

The Tigers have continued to improve on both ends of the floor game-by-game. Brad Brownell’s squad will make things look difficult for the Crimson Tide for the entirety of the game. However, I believe that Alabama’s scorers will take over in the second half. My final score prediction is Alabama 90, Clemson 82.

Alabama vs. Mercer: Predictions and analysis

Roll Tide Wire makes its third prediction of the 2023-2024 season as Alabama takes on the Mercer Bears.

Alabama (3-0) will take on Mercer (1-2) on Friday, Nov. 17th. The Crimson Tide come into the game averaging over 100 points per game. On the other hand, the Bears average a little over 65 points per game.

Mercer lost Game 1 against Clark Atlanta 74-66. That is a tough loss for the Bears as Clark Atlanta should have been a sure-fire win given the fact that they are a Division-2 team.

In Game 2, the Bears got back in the win column after knocking off Chicago State 66-61. Then, Mercer fell 74-66 to a common opponent, the Morehead State Eagles. Alabama defeated Morehead State 105-73 in the first game of the 2023-2024 season.

Ultimately, Alabama should be able to make things look easy in Game 4 of the season against Mercer. To do so, the Crimson Tide will need to neutralize the Bears’ leading scorers — Jalyn McCreary and Robby Carmody.

Alabama has improved each game on the defensive end of the floor. It will be a tall task for the Bears to come into Coleman Coliseum and pick up a win.

I like Alabama big in the fourth game of the season. My final score prediction is Alabama 100, Mercer 64.

Alabama vs. Indiana State: Predictions and analysis

Roll Tide Wire makes its second prediction of the 2023-2024 season as Alabama takes on the Indiana State Sycamores.

The Alabama men’s basketball team is coming off of its first win of the season. In Game 1, the Crimson Tide defeated Morehead State by a final score of 103-73.

Game 2 might be a more difficult matchup for Nate Oats’ squad. Indiana State was the 2022-2023 MVC regular season champions. The Sycamores return three of their top five scorers from a season ago.

Sycamores head coach Josh Schertz joined the program in 2021. Last season, he led Indiana State to a 23-13 record. The Sycamores also set a program record for most three-pointers in a season (340) and led the MVC in points per game and field goal percentage.

Alabama struggled defensively to slow down Morehead State in Game 1. Indiana State shoots more efficiently and should be a more competitive opponent for the Crimson Tide.

My final score prediction for tonight’s game is Alabama 82, Indiana State 68.

Breaking down Alabama’s 2023-2024 men’s basketball roster

Roll Tide Wire takes a look at the 2023-2024 Alabama men’s basketball roster heading into the upcoming season.

Alabama finished the 2022-2023 season with a Sweet Sixteen loss. Now, the Crimson Tide roster will look to improve off of that under the direction of fifth-year head coach Nate Oats. Not only did Alabama have a large amount of turnover on the roster, but they also made some serious changes to the coaching staff.

During the offseason, Alabama lost several assistant coaches. As a result, several assistant coaches were hired onto the staff. A few of them include Austin Claunch, Ryan Pannone, and Preston Murphy. Each has a different role and has made extended efforts on the recruiting trail and on the court to make this Alabama team the best that it can be.

It will be interesting to see how the new faces on Alabama’s roster perform this season.

Alabama vs. Morehead State: Predictions and analysis

Roll Tide Wire makes its first prediction of the 2023-2024 season as Alabama takes on the Morehead State Eagles.

After an unexpected ending to the 2022-2023 season, Alabama will look to begin a new chapter for the 2023-2024 season. The Crimson Tide have a newly-minted coaching staff and have added a wave of transfers during the offseason. It should make for a strong season in Tuscaloosa.

On Monday evening, the Crimson Tide will kick off the new season against the Morehead State Eagles. The Eagles compete in the OVC (Ohio Valley Conference). Last season, the Eagles finished with a 22-12 record.

Preston Spradlin’s squad finished the season with a 1-3 record against power-five opponents. Unfortunately, the Eagles will be without their leading scorer from a season ago senior guard Mark Freeman. He averaged 11.5 points per game and shot 34.9% from the floor against the four power-five opponents he faced.

Nate Oats and his coaching staff pride themselves in placing a team on the floor that defends at a high level and scores at a high rate. I think that Alabama gives Morehead State a lot of trouble on the defensive end given their size and pressures the Eagles on the offensive end with their scoring threats.

In Game 1 of the 2023-2024 season, I think that Alabama will win by a final score of 90-67.

With several freshmen set to depart for the NBA, the Tide will be tasked with replacing them. Alabama head coach Nate Oats is bringing in the No. 13 overall recruiting class in the country, which should help ease the pain considerably.

Roll Tide Wire makes a very early projection as to how Alabama football’s depth chart will chape out for the 2023-2024 season.

Alabama finished the 2022-2023 season with an 11-2 record, which was not the ideal end to the season, but it’s difficult to complain when this team’s disappointment is another team’s cause for celebration.

Several of the players that are expected to return to play pivotal roles next season are Jase McClellan, Chris Braswell, Kristian Story, and Tim Smith. Meanwhile, other players like Malachi Moore and Jermaine Burton have already announced that they are returning for their senior seasons.

The Tide’s roster will have a plethora of talent across the board at each position. There will likely be position battles that are not decided until Week 1 of the 2023-2024 season.

With the season now over, here is a way-too-early projection as to how Alabama’s depth chart could play out by the start of next season.

After two seasons came to an unexpected end, the Tide will look to return to their old ways. Alabama head coach Nick Saban will have a strong group of players returning next season and is bringing in the nation’s top recruiting class from this cycle as well.

There is no shortage of talent in Tuscaloosa heading into next season. The Tide will look to put the best players on the field as well as assemble the best coaching staff to succeed.

Today, Roll Tide Wire makes some way-too-early predictions for the Alabama football program for the 2023 season.

Breaking down Alabama football’s scholarship situation for next season

With players in the transfer portal and others declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft, here’s how the team sits as the offseason nears.

With players continuing to enter the transfer portal, it is almost impossible to truly predict what next year’s roster will look like.

As of right now, Alabama has 83 players on scholarship for next season. That number will likely increase as early National Signing Day is just over one week away.

In Division I, football programs are allowed to have a maximum of 85 scholarship players. Several recruits are projected to sign with the Tide, which would increase the scholarship count. Also, the Tide will likely look to add players through the transfer portal in areas of need.

At this time, Alabama has lost 13 scholarship players to the transfer portal and two walk-ons have also entered. That number could be beneficial to the Alabama coaching staff as it gives them more flexibility to bring in some recruits and transfers.

There could be coaching changes, additional transfers, and draft decisions in the coming weeks. Roll Tide Wire will continue to monitor the latest surround the Alabama football program.
