Auburn working to get Maryland LB transfer Ahmad McCullough to visit

Ahmad McCullough is the productive veteran that Auburn is looking for to put in the middle of the defense.

Auburn is looking to land a linebacker from the transfer portal and former Maryland Terrapin [autotag]Ahmad McCullough[/autotag] has become one of the school’s top targets.

McCullough spoke with Nathan King of Auburn Undercover and said that Auburn linebackers coach [autotag]Josh Aldridge[/autotag] had reached out to him recently and that Auburn wanted him to take a visit to the Plains.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker was a productive player for Maryland last season, making 45 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, and recovering two fumbles.

A Baltimore, Maryland native, he appeared in 33 games across five seasons for the Terrapins and his veteran presence would help mitigate the loss of team captain Owen Pappoe, who is headed to the NFL.

Auburn has already landed three players from the transfer portal, FIU tigh end Rivaldo Fairweather, Tulsa offensive tackle Dillon Wade, and Vanderbilt pass-rusher Elijah McAllister.

Georgia State linebacker comes to USC in the transfer portal; Trojans try to build defensive depth

#USC gets its first defensive transfer portal addition since the end of the 2022 regular season. It begins.

USC is hitting the transfer portal early by adding more depth to a lackluster defense, escpially at the linebacker position.

Jamil Muhammad is just the start of a long and difficult process to beef up a defense which needs more bodies and more reinforcements.

Muhammad, a Madison, Ala., native, was originally a highly-recruited three-star quarterback before transitioning to linebacker. This past season at Georgia State, he wrapped up 44 tackles and had five tackles for loss and one interception.

Muhammad, whom USC offered earlier this week, chose USC over offers from Arkansas, Indiana, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, Texas A&M and California.

The 6-foot-2, 245-pound Muhammad played in 12 games for Georgia State with 34 game appearances, 70 total tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.

Potential landing spots for former USC QB Kedon Slovis

.@DonJamesSports looks at potential destinations for Kedon Slovis, who has a lot of intriguing options laid out before him in the portal.

It appears Pittsburgh will have another new starting quarterback next season, and it’s a familiar face.

The former Trojan Kedon Slovis — “Captain Slovis” — is officially out as Pittsburgh quarterback.

A report surfaced earlier this week that Slovis intended to enter the NCAA transfer portal and skip Pitt’s upcoming Sun Bowl, less than a year after his January 2022 announcement that he would transfer to play for the Panthers.

Either Nick Patti, who is a redshirt senior, or redshirt freshman Nate Yarnell will be the Panthers’ quarterback for the Sun Bowl.

Former Notre Dame and Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec has transferred to Pitt to take over for Slovis, who will play for his third team in three years.

Which team will it be? Let’s take a look:

Oklahoma offers Arizona transfer Dorian Singer

Oklahoma continues to look for dynamic playmakers at wide receiver as they offered former Arizona WR Dorian Singer. From @thatmanbryant

Oklahoma continues to attack the portal hard having already sent out offers to other players like LA Tech transfer Tre Harris or Indiana transfer Dasan McCullough.

They haven’t let up and also reached out to former Arizona transfer wide receiver Dorian Singer. Singer led the Pac-12 in receiving yards this season and has two more years of eligibility remaining. He had a solid season as a freshman in 2021, catching 18 total passes for 301 yards. He leveled up this season with 66 receptions for 1,105 yards and six touchdowns.

He posted four games with 100 or more yards receiving, including a nine-catch, 175-yard, and one-touchdown performance against Washington State. He went for three touchdowns, 141 yards receiving on seven catches later in the year against the Pac-12 runner-up, the USC Trojans.

Singer is a perfect example of recruiting rankings not always being a perfect example as well.

Nothing about Singer’s high school recruiting profile suggested this level of production was possible.

Coming out of Pinnacle High School, Singer was ranked 1,030th ranked nationally, No. 147 at wide receiver, and the No. 18 ranked player in the state of Arizona.

If the name Pinnacle rings a bell, it’s because it was the school in which former Sooner quarterback Spencer Rattler hailed from.

Singer has offers from Arizona’s Pac-12 rivals Arizona State, Oregon, Colorado and Utah. Oklahoma will have serious competition from Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Penn State as well.

Sooners extend offer to Lousiana Tech transfer WR Tre Harris

With the departure of multiple receivers to the portal, Oklahoma sends out an offer to LA Tech receiver Tre Harris.

While the portal casualties for Oklahoma have risen into the double digits, it opens the door for Oklahoma to upgrade the talent that will don the Crimson and Cream.

After submitting offers to Ra Ra Thomas and Dante Cephas, the Sooners are targeting another wide receiver. This time, it’s Louisiana Tech’s Tre Harris.

At 6-foot-2, Harris had 65 receptions for 935 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2022. He was a first-team All-Conference USA selection in 2022 after earning honorable mention honors in 2021.

He ranks fourth nationally in scrimmage plays over 40 yards (6), and fifth in plays over 30 yards (9). Simply put, Harris is one of the best receivers in the portal, regardless of his former school. He’s a big play waiting to happen and would be a nice addition should the Sooners land him.

The Sooners have lost three wide receivers to the portal: Theo Wease, Brian Darby, and Trevon West. Wease is the only notable contributor from the bunch and based on Harris’ stats, he could very easily fill that void.

Harris has also received offers from Mississippi State and West Virginia.

Here are a few of his catches below.

There’s no timetable for a decision yet but expect things to move along fairly quickly as transfers typically would prefer to get to their newest destination as fast as possible in time for winter workouts and the new semester that starts in January.

USC transfer tracker — Trojans get elite receiver Dorian Singer, continue to grab Pac-12 transfers

The Trojans have secured a top-end receiver for 2023. Ralen Goforth will play for Washington. That and more in this updated #USC transfer tracker for Dec. 19.

Welcome to one of the most important weeks in college football: It’s the start of the transfer portal for the 2022-2023 offseason cycle. Buckle up. It’s going to be a wild ride.

College football now has its own equivalent of pro sports free agency. Players look at their own situations and come to the conclusion that for various reasons — playing time for some, coaching fit for others, winning games for others — it’s best to pack up and go somewhere else.

The transfer portal officially opened on Monday. Over 1,000 players have already entered or at least expressed an intent to enter the portal. We have our national transfer tracker to keep tabs on a lot of notable names.

Here, we present our USC transfer tracker. Right now, it has players headed out, but soon enough, we’ll be able to add new players coming in to play for Lincoln Riley in 2023.

We’ll update and refresh the list below as needed:

Transfer portal notebook: stories to follow as the portal opens for business

The Texas A&M exodus under Jimbo Fisher. Oregon exits noted by @Ducks_Wire. Kedon Slovis in the portal. Here are some of the bigger early stories to follow.

There is a lot to keep track of now that the college football regular season (except for the Army-Navy Game) is over. The doors to the transfer portal have swung wide open. Business is booming and rosters are about to be dramatically reshaped. USC benefited from the portal as much as any program in the country in 2022, and Lincoln Riley has made no secret of the fact that he intends to continue to restock his roster with portal reinforcements.

As seasons come to an end, and as coaches switch schools, players are on the move and will continue to enter the portal. With all of these moving parts on display, there’s a ton to keep tabs on. Here are just some of the stories worth noting as the transfer portal officially opens in college football:

National Transfer Tracker: notable names as the football portal gains over 1,000 players

The transfer portal is filling up. Keep track of notable prospects every week. A new name in the portal: Arizona State QB Emory Jones.

Hello! It’s transfer portal season for the 2022-2023 college football offseason.

The new transfer portal window officially opens Monday, and that hasn’t stopped players from announcing their plans to leave their schools ahead of the first day they can enter the portal. We saw a lot of transfer announcements over the weekend, which means it’s time to give you our national transfer tracker. This isn’t a list of players who have decided to transfer to USC, though you can be assured that Lincoln Riley has his eye on a lot of prospects. It’s simply a partial list of players who have already stated their intent to leave their current school and play elsewhere.

Last year, more than 3,000 FBS players entered the portal, which was open year-round. Quarterbacks Caleb Williams (USC), Quinn Ewers (Texas), Bo Nix(Oregon), and Spencer Rattler (South Carolina) were among the prominent transfers who made an immediate impact at their new schools.

Here’s an early look at the transfers on the open market:

Auburn WR Ze’Vian Capers to enter transfer portal

Ze’Vian Capers is the first player to announce his plans since Auburn fired Bryan Harsin.

Auburn wide receiver [autotag]Ze’Vian Capers[/autotag] has become the first player to announce his departure from the program after the Tigers fired [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] on Monday.

The junior wideout announced that he will be entering the transfer portal on Dec. 5. He played 17 snaps in three games this season and caught one pass for 16 yards.

He showcased his potential as a true freshman, catching seven passes for 77 yards and a touchdown but was never able to become an impact player. He finished his Auburn career with 14 catches for 147 yards and one touchdown in 23 games played.

“First off I would love to thank God and Auburn for giving me the opportunity to play the game that I cherish the most,” Capers tweeted. “I’m so grateful for everything that Auburn has blessed me with, I couldn’t ask for a better experience the past two years. I would like to thank Coach Ike and Whitlow for believing in me when no one else did. It truly means a lot to my family and I. I would like to thank my teammates for everything. You guys have taught me so much. I enjoyed sharing the field with every single last one of y’all and there will be tons of memories that I will never forget. I’m truly proud to call y’all my brothers and our relationship will always be deeper than football. I will always have a special connection for Auburn. Being an Auburn man is more than just wearing a jersey. It’s the dedication, the hard work, and sacrifice to be able to reach my ultimate goal. With that being said I will be entering my name in the transfer portal on December. 5th.”

He is the fourth receiver to enter the portal this season, joining J.J. Evans, Landen King, and Tar’Varish Dawson.

BREAKING: A.D. Diamond enters the transfer portal

Ten of Auburn’s 18 2021 recruits are no longer on the team’s roster.

Auburn’s mass exodus continues.

After wide receiver Tar’Varish Dawson entered the portal earlier today, Auburn freshmen cornerback [autotag]A.D. Diamond[/autotag] declared his own intentions to transfer late Wednesday evening. With Diamond’s transfer, 10 of Auburn’s 18 recruits from the 2021 recruiting class are now off the roster.

Like the other three players, Diamond hasn’t gotten play time — which is normal for most freshmen. Diamond hasn’t gotten any play time this year under head coach [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag], so it appears that he will try to see the field more frequently at another school after he enters the portal.

Harsin’s recruiting problems only continue with these recent transfers. Of Auburn’s 23 blue chips from the 2020 and 2021 classes, just eight currently remain on the team’s roster. It might be a good idea to keep an eye on the team as the week continues, as there is a possibility more players from the team follow suit before the Tigers take on Arkansas this Saturday.
