NFL team win total best bets: How many games will the New England Patriots win in 2020?

Assessing the New England Patriots’ projected win total for the 2020 NFL season, with best bets for their Over/Under.

How many games will the New England Patriots win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.

New England Patriots’ 2019 season

It was another very successful season for the Patriots, making the postseason yet again, although they lost in the wild card round. In the regular season, they went 12-4, winning an 11the consecutive AFC East title.

Against the spread, they finished 9-7 with a 7-9 Over/Under record in the regular season.

New England Patriots’ 2020 offseason changes

This offseason brought a ton of changes for the Pats. They released longtime K Stephen Gostkowski. QB Tom Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after 20 years with New England. They also lost LB Jamie Collins, LB Kyle Van Noy, DT Danny Shelton, C Ted Karras and WR Phillip Dorsett.

They signed QB Brian Hoyer, DL Beau Allen and WR Damiere Byrd.

They didn’t have a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Their top pick was S Kyle Dugger out of Division II Lenoir-Rhyne University in the second round. They also added pass rusher Josh Uche (Michigan) in the second round.

New England Patriots’ 2020 win total: Best bet

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Friday, May 8 at 2:45 a.m. ET.

Projected wins: 9.5 / OVER: +150 / UNDER: -182

The Patriots appear to be rebuilding. They lost their quarterback and surprisingly, haven’t really replaced him. As of now, it looks like Jarrett Stidham, their 2019 fourth-round pick, could be their starter. Their top defense has lost very important players. They play a first-place schedule with a weakened roster. Luckily, they play in the AFC East, which appears to be soft, but they also have to play the NFC West and the AFC West, including the Super Bowl champion Chiefs.

This appears to be the season that the Patriots hit rock bottom. They have a depleted roster and a terrible salarly cap situation. This will be the first time since 2002 they do not win at least 10 games. Take the UNDER 9.5 (-182) this year on the Pats.

NFL team win total best bets: How many games will the Minnesota Vikings win in 2020?

Assessing the Minnesota Vikings’ projected win total for the 2020 NFL season, with best bets for their Over/Under.

How many games will the Minnesota Vikings win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.

Minnesota Vikings’ 2019 season

The Vikings earned a second trip to the postseason in the last three years with a 10-6 regular-season record and a second-place finish in the NFC North. They then stunned the New Orleans Saints – and most of the football world – with a 26-20 overtime win at Mercedes-Benz Superdome in the wild-card round, before losing 27-10 on the road against the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.

The Vikes were 9-7 against the spread in the regular season, winning by an average margin of 6.5 points per game and covering by 2.8 PPG. They also went 9-7 against the Over/Under while topping the point projections by just 0.7 PPG.

Minnesota Vikings’ 2020 offseason changes

The Vikings have been one of the busier teams this offseason. WR Stefon Diggs was traded to the Buffalo Bills along with a seventh-round pick for the No. 22 selection in the 2020 NFL Draft and three other picks. QB Kirk Cousins was re-signed to a two-year extension worth $66 million.

The defense took several hits with the releases of DT Linval Joseph and CB Xavier Rhodes, and the departures of CB Trae Waynes and DE Everson Griffen. WR Justin Jefferson was chosen in the first round of the draft to replace Diggs. CBs Jeff Gladney (first round) and Cameron Dantzler (third round) will help reinforce the secondary.

Baltimore Ravens’ 2020 win total: Best bets

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Sunday, May 3 at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Projected wins: 8.5 / OVER: -159 / UNDER: +130

The Vikings have topped their 2020 projected win total in three of the past five seasons and they haven’t won fewer than eight games since a 7-9 campaign in 2014. The Over is thus a heavy favorite with low odds of -159 returning a profit of just $6.29 on a $10 bet.

The UNDER 8.5 (+130) is our advised wager. The Vikings are tied with the 10th-most difficult schedule in 2020, and that doesn’t account for the projected improvements of the Buccaneers and rival Bears and Lions. Minnesota went just 2-4 in divisional play last season. It’s difficult to envision them going better than 3-3 in the NFC North, leaving little room for error, particularly on the road, where they’ll face three playoff teams from 2019, in addition to the Packers.

NFL team win total best bets: How many games will the Los Angeles Chargers win in 2020?

Assessing the Los Angeles Chargers projected win total for the 2020 NFL season, with best bets for their Over/Under.

How many games will the Los Angeles Chargers win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.

Los Angeles Chargers’ 2019 season

The Chargers struggled in 2019. They went 5-11, finishing last in the AFC West. They were 4-10-2 against the spread with a 7-9 Over/Under record.

Los Angeles Chargers’ 2020 offseason changes

Los Angeles moved on from three key offensive players. QB Philip Rivers left in free agency to sign with the Indianapolis Colts after 16 years with the Chargers. RB Melvin Gordon signed with the Denver Broncos and LT Russell Okung was dealt to the Carolina Panthers.

The Chargers signed RT Bryan Bulaga and acquired G Trai Turner from the Panthers. The also added DT Linval Joseph and CB Chris Harris Jr. Meanwhile, they drafted QB Justin Herbert (Oregon) and LB Kenneth Murray (Oklahoma) in the first round – Herbert was the sixth overall pick.

Los Angeles Chargers‘ 2020 win total: Best bet

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Thursday, May 7 at 2:45 a.m. ET.

Projected wins: 7.5 / OVER: -164 / UNDER: +135

The Chargers improved defensively but losing Rivers, even though he appeared to play at a diminished level, will hurt. QB Tyrod Taylor will likely begin the season as the starter but Herbert was not drafted sixth overall to ride the bench. He will take over at some point and rookie quarterbacks rarely have winning seasons. They have what appear to be winnable games against the Bengals, Dolphins, Jaguars but they will have to play the Chiefs twice and NFC Super Bowl contenders Bucs and Saints. Have they improved enough to win at least three more games in 2020?

Taylor is an adequate quarterback but it will be the “Justin Herbert Show” soon. Don’t expect a winning season from the Chargers. Take the UNDER 7.5 (+135).

NFL team win total best bets: How many games will the Kansas City Chiefs win in 2020?

Assessing the Kansas City Chiefs’ projected win total for the 2020 NFL season, with best bets for their Over/Under.

How many games will the Kansas City Chiefs win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.

Kansas City Chiefs’ 2019 season

Despite hitting a bump in the road with QB Patrick Mahomes‘ injury, the Chiefs cruised through the regular season to a 12-4 record. They erased huge deficits in two of their playoff games and came back in Super Bowl LIV, too, in winning the Lombardi Trophy.

In their 19 total games between the regular season and postseason, the Chiefs were 13-5-1 against the spread, the best mark in the NFL. They also finished with an 10-9 Over/Under record (8-8 regular season, 2-1 postseason).

Kansas City Chiefs’ 2020 offseason changes

As good as the Chiefs were a season ago, they might be even better in 2020. They’re set to return 20 starters from the team that won it all last year, and also signed players such as CB Bashaud Breeland and TE Ricky Seals-Jones.

The biggest addition of all, however, was the selection of LSU RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire at No. 32 overall in the draft. He’ll be an impact rookie and likely the team’s top running back in Week 1.

Kansas City Chiefs’ 2020 win total: Best bet

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Tuesday, May 5 at 11 p.m. ET.

Projected wins: 11.5 / OVER: -130 / UNDER: +110

The Chiefs are already the betting favorites to repeat as Super Bowl champions, and there’s no reason for them not to be. They didn’t suffer any major losses, added Edwards-Helaire and have a healthy FS Juan Thornhill returning.

No one else in the AFC made major strides on the path to unseating the Chiefs as the best team, either. The Chiefs are in a great position to repeat as not only AFC West champions, but also to reach the Super Bowl again.

Looking at their recent history, there’s a great chance they’ll finish with at least 12 wins, too. They’ve gone 12-4 in three of the last four years and have teams such as the Dolphins, Jets, Falcons and Panthers on their schedule.

Their other opponents aren’t easy outs, but the Chiefs should go at least 12-4. Bet the OVER 11.5 (-130), and bet on Mahomes to continue working his magic.

Over/Under: Projecting Tennessee Titan’s QB Ryan Tannehill’s stats

Projecting Ryan Tannehill’s 2020 passing statistics and how they match up with the over/under betting odds.

Looking forward to the 2020 NFL season, it’s time to start breaking down how individual players will do statistically. Below, we focus on Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill’s projected passing numbers and how they match up against futures odds at BetMGM sportsbook.

Ryan Tannehill’s stats history

Signed last offseason to back up QB Marcus Mariota, Tannehill took over midway through the 2019 campaign to lead the Titans to a 7-3 record in 10 starts and make it all the way to the AFC Championship Game. The former eighth overall pick of the Miami Dolphins enjoyed a career year with a 70.3% completion rate, throwing for 2,742 yards and 22 touchdowns against just six interceptions in his first season in Music City.

He continued his strong play through three playoff games, as he passed for 369 yards and five touchdowns with only one interception. Tannehill, who turns 32 in July, was rewarded this offseason with a four-year, $118 million contract extension. He’s expected to lead the Titans for years to come following his breakout 2019 campaign.

Ryan Tannehill’s projected stats and odds

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Tuesday, April 28 at 1 p.m. ET.

Passing Yards: 3,449.5 / OVER: -110 / UNDER: -110

There was no Passing Touchdowns line posted at the time of publishing.

Tannehill’s 228.5 passing yards per game in 2019 included two relief appearances of Mariota. However, he didn’t attempt a single pass in a 43-13 Week 1 blowout of the Cleveland Browns, and he completed 13 of 16 passes for 144 yards in a 16-0 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 6 before getting his first start the following week.

Those 228.5 passing yards per game, despite being lower because of the two abbreviated outings, would extrapolate to 3,656 yards over a full season.

The Titans improved their defense through free agency and the 2020 NFL Draft, and didn’t add a single pass-catching option for Tannehill. They’ll remain committed to RB Derrick Henry and the rushing attack, meaning but the projection of 3,449.5 passing yards is still low.

Take the OVER 3,449.5 (-110) for a $9.09 return on a $10 wager should Tannehill pass for at least 3,450 yards in 2020. He topped this total three years in a row during his time with the Dolphins.
