Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody left off 2022 NBA Rising Stars roster

Warriors rookies Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody weren’t included in the 2022 edition of the Rising Stars Game at All-Star weekend in Cleveland.

On Friday, the NBA announced the roster for the 2022 NBA rising stars game for Cleveland’s All-Star weekend. Yet, the Golden State Warriors pair of rookies weren’t included in the lineup.

NBA assistant coaches around the league voted together to build the roster that features 12 rookies, 12 sophomores and four players from the G League Ignite team. However, the No. 7 and No. 14 overall picks from the 2021 NBA draft didn’t make the cut.

Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody will have to wait till their sophomore seasons to get a chance at the Rising Stars game.

The roster for the Rising Stars group included top picks from the 2021 NBA draft like Detroit’s Cade Cunningham, Cleveland’s Evan Mobley, Toronto’s Scottie Barnes, Orlando’s Franz Wagner and Houston’s Jalen Green.

Along with a flurry of highlight-reel dunks, Kuminga is averaging seven points on 49.3% shooting from the field with 2.6 boards and 0.5 assists in 12.8 minutes per game.

With a recent uptick in minutes, Kuminga is averaging 11.7 points on 50.4% shooting from the field in 19.5 minutes over his last 14 games.

In 30 games, Moody is averaging 3.2 points on 37.5% shooting from the floor with 1.4 rebounds in 9.2 minutes per game. Moody has started the last three games for the Warriors, averaging 12.3 points on 46.2% shooting from the field in 28.4 minutes per contest.

Although Kuminga and Moody won’t be included in the Rising Stars game, the Warriors will have multiple members representing the team at All-Star weekend.

Before the game, Juan Toscano-Anderson will compete in the dunk contest. Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins were named to the All-Star game.

Eric Paschall played with ‘Mamba mentality’ in NBA Rising Stars Challenge

Eric Paschall scored a team-high 23 points in the Rising Stars Challenge using “Mamba mentality.”

Since the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others in a fatal helicopter crash, the NBA has honored the fallen legend across the league.

Players around the association, including members of the Golden State Warriors, have posted social media tributes to Bryant. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green have posted messages on social media in honor of Bryant. In the Warriors’ first game in San Francisco since Bryant’s passing, the Chase Center paid respect throughout the night.

At All-Star Weekend in Chicago, the tributes to Bryant didn’t stop. Warriors rookie Eric Paschall used his moment at All-Star weekend to honor Bryant.

The only member of the Warriors participating in All-Star festivities, Paschall led Team USA with 23 points in the Rising Stars Challenge. After the game, Paschall spoke to reporters in Chicago, saying his target for the contest was to “play with Mamba mentality.”

Go out there and play with Mamba mentality. The second group decided to play a little harder. They started to play hard, so we had to respond.

Paschall was apart of a 27-5 second-half run by Team USA to take the lead in the challenge. Team USA sealed a 151-131 victory with Charlotte’s Miles Bridges winning the Most Valuable Player award.

Paschall finished the night shooting 10-of-13 from the field, adding one 3-pointer. The Warriors rookie registered three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
