Seahawks players abundant on ESPN’s NFC West All-Decade Team

The Seattle Seahawks have numerous players on ESPN’s All-Decade Teams list for the 2010s, including Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner.

ESPN recently released their NFL All-Decade Teams of the 2010s for every division and the Seattle Seahawks feature abundantly in the NFC West edition.

Russell Wilson claimed the quarterback spot on the list, while Marshawn Lynch, Doug Baldwin, Max Unger, and Russell Okung rounded out the rest of Seattle’s offensive players of the decade.

The defensive side of the ball featured Bobby Wagner, Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and Kam Chancellor, all key contributors to the Seahawks’ Super Bowl victory in the 2013-14 season, while Tyler Lockett appeared on the special teams as a return specialist along with kicker Stephen Hauschka.

In addition, former Cardinal and current Seahawk Mike Iupati notched a spot on the list, making the total number of Seahawks on ESPN’s All-Decade list a resounding dozen.

The Seahawks had plenty of memorable moments in their most successful decade in franchise history and many great players that made them happen.

4 Chiefs snubbed from NFL’s 2010s All-Decade team

Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and other Kansas City Chiefs deserved a spot on the 2010s All-Decades team.

The NFL and Pro Football Hall of Fame have named players and coaches to the 2010s All-Decade team. The Kansas City Chiefs had six members of the franchise selected, but there were several other members noticeably absent. Here’s a look at four of the most deserving members of the Chiefs franchise that were snubbed from the team:

HC Andy Reid

Is there anyone more obviously absent from this team than Reid? From 2010-2019, with the Eagles and the Chiefs, Reid has a 99-61 regular-season record with a 5-6 postseason record. He finally got a Super Bowl victory this season with Kansas City. His leadership changed the fortune of the Chiefs franchise for the 2010s decade and it has set them up to be successful for the next decade too. Perhaps, if Reid coaches for another 10 seasons, he’ll do enough to make the list in 2030.

6 Chiefs players named to NFL’s 2010s All-Decade team

The Kansas City Chiefs have the second-most players on the NFL’s 2010s All-Decade team.

The NFL and the Pro Football Hall of Fame have announced that a total of 52 players and two head coaches have been selected for the 2010s All-Decade team.

The Kansas City Chiefs have the second-most players named to the NFL’s 2010s All-Decade team with six total players. That group includes three players currently on the team and three former players. Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu headline the group as the current players and LeSean McCoy, Eric Berry and Darrelle Revis are the former players named to the team.

A name noticeably absent from the list is Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes. It’s hard to compete with the achievements of Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers— the two quarterbacks selected for this particular decade. Mahomes only has two years in this decade, despite those being two of the best years by a QB in NFL history. I suspect that Mahomes will have a shot at being a unanimous selection for the 2020s decade.

None of the players for the Chiefs were among the eight players voted in as unanimous selections. Every player besides Hill made the list at their primary position, while Hill was voted in a punt return specialist.

The great thing for Kansas City is that the three players that are still on the roster should still have many good years ahead of them. None of them are over 30 years old and all of them remain under contract through the 2021 NFL season.

From the professional ranks to the collegiate battles throughout all the divisions, some teams just had a better decade than others.

From the professional ranks to the collegiate battles throughout all the divisions and sports—looking at you, lacrosse and swimming—some teams just had a better decade than others. They may not have won it all, all the time. However, these schools and professional franchises either stood in the way of glory more often than not or totally reigned from atop Championship Mountain as a perennial 2010s juggernaut.

A quick note: We’re looking for the best here, and that means wins and titles! So if your baseball team crushed the regular season each year but bombed in the Divisional Series, it’s probably not making the cut—and no, I don’t hate your football team.

Here we go!

New England Patriots

Whether you like to admit it or not, the New England Patriots were the NFL’s 2010s. The full hot order. Count ’em out? That’s what coach Bill Belichick and Tom Brady loved for the general masses outside of the Boston area to do. And then, they’d pull it together and outthink, out-scheme—out videotape?—your team on their way to Super Bowl Sunday. Half of the decade featured the Patriots in the Grand Finale, with the team winning three times.
