LOOK: Falcons’ first full 16-man practice squad for 2024 NFL season

The Atlanta Falcons went 0-3 in the preseason but accomplished quite a bit over the last few weeks. After acquiring outside linebacker Matthew Judon and safety Justin Simmons, the team extended cornerback A.J. Terrell just in time for roster cuts on Tuesday.

The work didn’t end there for head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot. Atlanta traded quarterback Taylor Heinicke to the Los Angeles Chargers while simultaneously filling all 16 practice squad spots.

Check out the Falcons’ first complete 16-man practice squad below for 2024 (International Player Kenny Oginni does not count against total):

The Atlanta Falcons are tweaking their 16-man practice squad for the third consecutive day, signing cornerback Tyler Hall on Friday morning and releasing DE Austin Edwards to make room. Both players signed with the Falcons as undrafted free agents following the draft.

Hall, a standout from Wyoming, has drawn praise from the Falcons coaching staff, and it’s not surprising to see him return to the team.

As for Edwards, who comes from little Ferris State college in Michigan, he lasted longer than many other highly-regarded prospects, and some draft picks. Don’t be surprised to see him return to Atlanta at some point.

The Falcons announced their four protected practice squad players this week, keeping QB Kurt Benkert, LB Edmond Robinson, P Cameron Nizialek and WR Chris Rowland.

Make sure to check out our practice squad tracker to stay up to date on each move the team makes.

The Atlanta Falcons continue to tweak their 16-man practice squad as the team prepares for a Week 3 matchup with the Chicago Bears.

On Tuesday, the Falcons announced they were terminating the contracts of QB Kyle Lauletta, CB Tyler Hall and DT David Moa.

Lauletta was a fourth-round pick in the 2018 draft, while both Hall and Moa were undrafted free agents. Hall signed with Atlanta shortly after the draft and Moa signed last week.

This leaves three practice squad spots available for the team to add another offensive lineman and potentially a cornerback. Keep track of each move with our Falcons practice squad tracker.

Broncos protect 4 players on practice squad, including a quarterback

The Broncos have protected four players on their practice squad.

The Denver Broncos have protected four players on their practice squad, the team announced Wednesday.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NFL expanded the practice squad to 16 players this season, allowing teams to carry up to six veteran players. Teams are also allowed to protect up to four players per week.

Denver protected quarterback Brett Rypien, outside linebacker Derrek Tuszka, safety P.J. Locke and offensive lineman Jake Rodgers. Those players will not be eligible to leave the practice squad to sign with another team’s active roster.

The 12 other players on the practice squad can leave the Broncos at any time if offered a position on another team’s 53-man roster.

The unprotected players are offensive lineman Quinn Bailey, cornerback De’Vante Bausby, running back LeVante Bellamy, wide receiver Trinity Benson, receiver Fred Brown, running back/fullback Jeremy Cox, defensive back Alijah Holder, center Patrick Morris, left tackle Darrin Paulo, linebacker Josh Watson and defensive lineman DeShawn Williams.
