Stephen A. Smith obliterated the slumping Yankees on First Take: ‘You look like trash right now!’

Stephen A. is talking baseball. It’s THAT bad for the Yankees.

ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith isn’t exactly a baseball expert — something he’s admitted in the past — but when it comes to New York teams, there’s no denying Smith’s passion.

And while the Yankees hold the AL East’s best record by nine games, they’ve been the worst team in baseball since the beginning of August. Tuesday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Rays was the Yankees’ 11th loss in 14 games, dropping their record to 8-17 since the All-Star break. With still plenty of time left in the season, you’re already starting to see some panic in the Bronx.

Plus, you know things are bad when Smith has to give the Yankees a Knicks-level rant. We reached that stage on Wednesday.

During Wednesday’s edition of First Take, Smith ripped the Yankees as their shocking slump continued into a fifth straight series loss. Here’s a sample of what he said:

“The Yankees, you look like trash right now. You look like flat-out trash. You’re worse than how it smells from the sewers in the Bronx. And I was born in the Bronx. I know what the hell I’m talking about. I’ve taken the D Train many times in my life. I got family on Webster Avenue, for crying out loud. Y’all straight garbage! There’s more expected from the New York Yankees!”

As far as Stephen A. rants go, that was pretty good. One of his best — though someone should tell him that Hank Steinbrenner died in 2020. MLB fans also had thoughts on the latest rant from Smith.
