Steph Curry teaming up with Peyton Manning for ‘The Match: Champions for Change’ charity golf round

It’s official, Steph Curry will team up with Peyton Manning against Phil Mickelson and Charles Barkley for “The Match III” charity golf event.

It’s official – before the Golden State Warriors begin the new season, Steph Curry will put his basketball shoes aside for his golf clubs. The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player will join Phil Mickelson, Charles Barkley and Peyton Manning for “The Match” charity golf competition.

Golden State’s sharpshooter will team up with Manning for the match play event against the pairing of Barkley and Mickelson. Curry and Barkley are slated to replace Tom Brady and Tiger Woods in the third edition of the event. Curry and the rest of the high-profile will tee up for the event on Friday, Nov. 27, at Stone Canyon Golf Club in Oro Valley, Arizona.

After raising $20 million for COVID-19 relief efforts in May, November’s round of The Match will benefit Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). According to a press release from Turner, the proceeds from the charity will help support “diversity, equality and inclusion through donations to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).”

Capital One’s The Match: Champions for Change will uniquely contribute toward and highlight diversity, equality and inclusion through donations to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), while raising awareness and spotlighting opportunities for diversity and equality in sports.

In 2019, the Golden State point guard helped provide funding for Howard University’s first Division I golf program.

Despite Manning’s win in the Match II, Mickelson is “feeling pretty confident” with Barkley on his side.

While he’s not Woods, the five-time NBA All-Star could be a contender for first place in The Match III. In early July, Curry stamped a top-five finish in the American Century Championship celebrity tournament in Lake Tahoe.

Although it’s not a game inside San Francisco’s Chase Center, watching Curry compete against Barkley and Mickelson will give fans of the Golden State Warriors something to cheer about before the new NBA season is underway.
