St. Louis Cardinals at San Francisco Giants odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s St. Louis Cardinals at San Francisco Giants odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The St. Louis Cardinals (9-14) and San Francisco Giants (9-13) play the 2nd contest of a 4-game series Tuesday. First pitch from Oracle Park is set for 9:45 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cardinals vs. Giants odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: San Francisco leads 1-0

San Francisco won 4-0 as -109 home favorites Monday. The 7th inning was big for the Giants as they scored all 4 runs in that inning — 1 run on a sacrifice fly by LF Mitch Haniger and 3 runs on a 3B J.D. Davis HR.

Pitching struggles have continued to plague St. Louis to start the season, as they are tied for 2nd-to-last in the league in quality starts with 4. They also rank 21st in the league in ERA (4.48). St. Louis has now lost 3 of their last 5.

Cardinals at Giants picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 4, Giants 2

Moneyline

LEAN CARDINALS (-110).

The Cardinals were shut out Monday and I don’t see that happening in this game. It is hard to keep a team like St. Louis, which makes contact so often,  to low-scoring games. The defense and pitching has been questionable for St. Louis so far, but this matchup is so evenly matched they should be able to take this game.

Run line/Against the spread

AVOID.

The Giants at +1.5 (-175) might cover the run line here even as the home underdog, but the risk is not worth the reward for that bet especially since there is no clear favorite.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 9 (-115).

For San Francisco the Under is 6-0 in their last 6 when facing the NL Central and they hit on the Under in Monday’s matchup as well. For St. Louis the Under is 5-1 in their last 6 after scoring 2 or less runs in their previous outing and the Under is 6-1 in their last 7 vs. a starter with a WHIP of less than 1.15.
