Social media reacts to Texas QB Quinn Ewers’ performance against TCU

Quinn Ewers had his worst performance of the season.

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers had his worst performance of the season against No. 4 TCU on Saturday evening.

With ESPN’s College Gameday in town for a primetime conference matchup that the Longhorns desperately needed to win to keep their Big 12 title hopes alive, Ewers failed to deliver.

The freshman quarterback didn’t get much help from his receivers as numerous drops stalled drives, but his inability to read the field and find the open man and accuracy issues on deep balls certainly cost Texas.

Putting only three offensive points on the board against one of the top teams in the country will never get the job done. It was an unacceptable performance from the entire offense as a whole, including head coach Steve Sarkisian’s playcalling.

Ewers finished the game completing 17-of-39 passes for 171 yards and one interception. His performance sparked a debate on social media whether or not Sarkisian should have turned to backup quarterback Hudson Card to provide a spark in a must-win game.

Here’s a look at social media reactions to Ewers’ disappointing showing this week.
