Social media reacts to Texas losing five-star QB Quinn Ewers to Ohio State

Five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers announced his commitment to Ohio State on Thursday and it did not sit well with Texas fans.

The recruiting trail has been a roller coaster for the Texas football program this year.

But then again, so has their play on the field. Texas seemingly had it all together prior to suffering back-to-back losses to unranked opponents.

The Longhorns have since put together an impressive win streak to stay alive in the Big 12 title race. However, it was a little too late for several of Texas’ highest-rated recruits from the 2022 recruiting class.

At one point, five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers and four-star wide receiver Phaizon Wilson were both committed to the University of Texas. Ewers is the No. 1 quarterback in the nation, while Wilson is one of the top receivers out of the class.

They’re both in-state products that you cannot afford to let slip away.

Due to lack of player development and inconsistent production on the field, both Ewers and Wilson chose to decommit from Texas. Although these weren’t the only two to back away from their original commitment to the Longhorns, it certainly put a target on head coach Tom Herman’s back.

On Thursday, Ewers announced his commitment to Ohio State. The news understandably didn’t sit well with Texas fans, check out their reactions on the next page.
